Hello All, I've panned WhiskeyRun a number of times. Unsuccessfully Until I found that the good gold is deep. I would go down 3 ft before even starting to use my sluice, if you can get 4 ft down some really good gold is there. But a hard dig. Better with two diggers. Also the creek originally ran straight down the car road and straight out to the sea. So the closer you dig to the road the better. Also, the creek a couple miles north where the nice park is, has gold also. In the spring you can find it on the false bed rock, which is very hard clay. However, it gets cleaned out by summer.. If you have a ram rod or heavy pick you can dig through the false bedrock , and find layer after layer of clay then gravel containing gold dust.
Thanks! Funny thing, there was a gold rush here until a winter storm hit and washed all the black sands away. Bummer for the old timers that spent time building up the area. We appreciate your continued support!
Thanks for sharing. I use both of those mats on th beach of Lake Superior. I'm going to Oregon this summer and hope to do some panning on a beach or two. Wish I could bring th sluice box though.
Looked like a nice day out on oregon coast, i didn't know there was beach gold that far north either. Your videos are great, thanks for bringing us along
Keep it separate from your non mercury covered gold, since it will spread and cover the other clean gold. Once you get enough of the mercury covered stuff, you can burn it off with a retort. Basically it heats the mercury enough to vaporize, then gets reconcentrated in water. No mercury gets into the air, and it keeps you safe from inhaling it. There are other methods to separate it from gold without a retort. But this seems the safest. I’d still wear a respirator and do it outside. lol. Thanks for watching!
If you would test your tailings you would see that you are losing most all of your gold with either mat, go back with a gold cube and get most of it all. Great video. Been doing this in Oregon for almost 20yrs and love it, and love watching content on here. Please do a video near Lawson's Bar on the Umpqua River or some place in Bohemia Please.
We've done a few at Lawson bar, but we have another one we're editing soon. We also have several on Brice and Champion creek(s), which are closer to us. thanks for watchin!
We were going to go today. Water levels way too high. We’ve tried working the banks there.. got to dig a lot to find anything. So.. we didn’t make it unfortunately. Would have been there otherwise!
I’ve always wanted to prospect in Oregon on the coast. Washington beaches have always treated me good. Great video and loving the Gold! Thanks my friend 😎
Whiskey Run has quite a bit of history to it. There was even a town there. Not to mention the guy who had a whole bunch of flower gold he buried under a tree. A fire came along and burned the area. Well, it's still out there.
Mercury isn’t THAT bad. Sheesh when we were kids we played with puddles of it in our bare hands. Ingesting or breathing fumes is bad. Having it in a pan until bottled isn’t a big deal. Oh and I graduated college with honors at the age of 53 so playing with it early in life obviously didn’t harm my mental faculties.
It doesn’t evaporate but it is dangerous. If you heat it up, it’ll evaporate and that’s no good. Need special equipment to do it safely. We just set it aside in a separate vile and will deal with it later.
@@hukphin740 not advice. Just anecdotal and a bit of reality. ANYTHING will kill you in excess. The boys of mercury encountered in placer mining isn’t a concern unless you start messing with it to remove it from the gold. Personally, I keep contaminated gold in a separate container with no intention of retorting it myself. It can be safely retorted but doing so legally is a different matter.

More on the way!

Good job guys! Thanks for cleaning that lead and mercury. I just subscribed. keep it up!
Happy to do so. Thanks for watching! More videos coming soon!
Nice work boys, the prospecting there reminds me a bit of Charleston here in Nz. Keep up the great work!

Yep, it’s there!
U can find it everywhere even in Astoria :) not much but it’s there!
That Oregon black sand is something else. Super fine. The black sand I get in Ohio is boulders comparatively
Yeah, it’s incredibly fine at the beach. Super difficult, but still a good time.
This is awesome!
We thought so too! It was a lot of fun. Thanks for watching.
Nice!
Pretty Great Gold 👍
Thanks!
Nice job.
Thanks!
Can you tell me more about the mercury? What do you do with it?

Washington is probably better, but it’s always a blast no matter what! Thanks for your support!
How can you tell what mercury is? What does it look like?
It’s silver color and soft. Clings to gold, which is why the old timers loved it.

That’s a great story! Haven’t heard that yet. You’re right about the history!
wide sluice box with black nat best for fine gold...like they use in alaska
You’re right!

Thanks! Were still prospecting, just been busy
Süper video 👍🇹🇷
Thank you!!
You keep the mecury don't you!!!! That's the gold!!!! Ied be looking for that mecury!!!!
Of course! Thanks for watching
You should always keep mercury submerged in water
Because it evaporates in Room temperature.
Also do not touch mercury with your skin.

@@OpenCarryUSMC....this is bad advice regarding your mercury comment.
