Back in the Day these were some of the largest Silver mines in Inyo County , California and they were mined up into the late 50's . They are are connected and the haulage drifts can go for miles . If you like videos like this then Smash that like button....SMASH it Hard !!!!
Amazing how much ingenuity they had back in the day. The old timers were a different breed of people.
How hard?
Good to see Your inner kid out to play @Ask Jeff Williams!
Smashed harder than my empty beer can. the button, not me🤪
Not much now days but back in the 50 and 60's they would crush a lot of those minerals for landscape and roofing material. Probably from that very mine. So come on, let's go!
I’ve watch you vids for years and I’m still excited every time a new vid comes out, love the history and knowledge Jeff keep it up, love from the UK.
thanks Peter
I like these “minimally guided tours” where someone knows all the details but allows you the surprises of finding stuff on your own 👍
Get out and dig! Show us what you have!
Jeff, your knowledge of mining is amazing. Thanks for taking us along!
And quiting my job to be your camera man and co-miner...... now
Dude can’t be touched. He’s my favorite youtuber
“Gly”: Whoo Hoo! Now that’s my kind of mine! I could play in that one for days!
It was a fun one for certain! Looking forward to getting back there to hit some of the places we missed. Soooo much to see and so close together.
Yea I could see more
Days? .. ha! You mean weeks!
@@JohnSmithoriginal1 So true!

Found myself getting emotional when you pointed out the pick marks on the walls. The amount of labor evident in just ONE mine is mind-boggling. It's easy to to forget these mines were cut out of the earth with human hands...
Those pick marks always make the explore personal. A single miner swinging it pick made that one mark. That will always be his mark.
I know....right
Yeah well you ain’t seen the notches on my headboard
I agree with you with one caveat, remember it took thousands of people many, many hours over many, many years to dig them out. Kind of like a giant ant colony. Peace.
Thanks for the adventure, epic!!! Great times for sure, you can almost feel the energy from the old timers! All the best Jeff, thanks!
That was a cool look into those mines. Thank you guys for taking us with you since my old body looks like a mine collapse
I've gotta hand it to your wife, Jeff. She does one heck of a job keeping up with you inside of these mines. She also tends to find herself in some of the most precarious places, many that most guys would never find themselves getting to, so that she can get some great video of you climbing and exploring these mines. So for whatever it's worth, thank you Lila, and great work! Make sure you're staying safe, and keep an eye on Jeff and that old bag of bones, Slim! 😁
Lila really appreciated that and yes she is and I am very grateful to have her by my side
I love all of this underground exploring stuff Jeff and how you share your knowledge with such enthusiasm is fantastic.
thanks Mr DazP1
It's just Amazing the amount of back breaking work that went into mines like the War Eagle! Thanks for the tour Folks!!
Now that was a fun exploring video y’all!!!! Can you imagine how many hours & people it took to dig all those mines. WOW !!
What makes your videos so interesting to me is your understanding of the history behind where you’re going on your adventures. Makes it very enjoyable to watch and I can learn too. 🙂👍🏻 Great work!
thanks
Dear friend Jeff, I am so glad to see you out and about making videos after losing your dad. I lost my hero, my dad, when he was only 54, to pancreatic cancer. It about destroyed me. But he is with me now every day keeping an eye on me. I know you love your dad as much, so, know your dad is watching over you, brother. God bless you. Ken Clark
thank you Ken , that is what Pops wanted , yes he is everyday ...thank you
That was freaking awesome Jeff! The things you have seen in these old mines must just be amazing. Love the channel and cant wait to see what’s next!
What a great video, Jeff is such wonderful and knowledgeable narrator so much information, just love watching him
Jeff, I am so very sorry to hear about your Father's Passing. The sorrow gets better as time goes by. God Bless good Buddy. "So come one, let's go."
thank you Daniel
One of the three dozen or so types of wood referred to as an "ironwood" is Lignum Vitae. It's a wood so hard and dense that it is used to make hammers - not only the handle, but the head. It's also extremely heavy. Hauling in square sets of that will put hair on your chest.
and lead in your pencil ..hahahaa
@@Askjeffwilliams NOT TO MENTION YOU'RE GOING TO GET WET FROM EXERTION HAULING ALL THAT WOOD. And because of it's oil holding capacity, it was used as bearings, in WW-2 submarines....(around the main shaft, if I remember correctly. I remember my father-in-law talking about it, when I had a shard of it in my wood shop, 40 years or so, years ago. At 76, I can't imagine where I dredged up that memory from.😐
"Living coal"
Is trouble really your middle name ?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You absolutely know your stuff in them mines and you look like you enjoy being in there!! Thanks Jeff ✌️
“ oooohw that looks nasty” Keeps going forward 🤣👍🏻
Absolutely awesome and mind blowing to see all the man hours and work that went into those mines. Another excellent vid Jeff, luv ya stuff mate 👍🤩💯😘
those worn ladder rungs remind me of the paving stones outside an old pub here (by old i mean ~700yr old) where the _SOLID GRANITE_ slabs had been eroded in a funnel shape that tapered in and deepened towards the doorway.
One day I'll come visit you all the way from new Zealand
Very awesome video saying prayers for you all Be safe have fun 👍🙏👍 And Find 👍 some Gold 🙏👍
I love how excited you are exploring these mines!
Loved it! Do you plan on going to Cerro Gordo, meeting Brent and touring the mines there?
If he does, he has to invite me! :-)
just waiting for the invite
@@Askjeffwilliams Hey Jeff, I think that you can head up there almost anytime, as Brent is almost always there and people are regularly heading up. It might be a good idea to reach out and see if he is going to be there when you go though, as he does occasionally make trips to town to grab supplies or run errands. Either way I think it would be pretty cool for you guys to have a collaboration video. I bet there's a lot you could show Brent about the geology in those mines. It would be a pretty incredible video!
@@three6ohchris thanks
Jeff I absolutely enjoy the heck out of your video’s. I am wondering a lot about your past or perhaps present. I know you follow the gold and have a mine but I’m wondering if your a geologist or a previous miner or a teacher. The amount of information you share in such machine-gun bursts is astounding. I watch a lot of mine explores and your prob in my top 3 but couldn’t tell you who is 1 or 2. Lol. Sorry. But I recently discovered I am into the vastness of Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Well I’ve always known that but recently made strides to get out and explore. I’ve spent a lot of time looking for ghost towns and old mining settlements but have for about a year now discovered mine exploring. It started for me at the Tonopah mine museum while checking out Tonopah and goldfield for my 50th birthday. Your video on that park was also decent.
Anyway I’m just wondering about your past. I was sorry to watch your video about your father. But I really enjoyed the link to the video you and him did.
I am interested to know if this has been a life long passion passed down from him or if this was based on a hobby. Like I said in about a billion words thanks for the entertainment as well as the education. I’m just learning. but wow! there is such a texture and absolute depth of history to see and feel while exploring the deserts. The pyramids were grand but the work it’s taken to carve out the holes in the desert is no less amazing.
Hi Jerald, actually all 3.... thank you ....yes it was ...he got me started at age 10....
Love your shows Jeff
thanks Bob
Loved this adventure ! Thanks Jeff !!and company!

thanks Carl, we really appreciate that
@@Askjeffwilliams you are very welcome.
Wow that is something!!! Thanks for the tour!!!
I Love it, I've seen some mines in northern Sweden, but most are "curated", since it's accually quite illegal to leave something like a mine as if. Mostly ;)
Lol Jeff jumping down the Winze like a kid in a playground. I have been in a few old mines nothing that size but super cool
great trip out fam. loads of fun fam. GOLD SQUAD OUT!!!
Yes it was
That's a fun mine. The lower levels are really neat. Hit me up if you want to visit the larger one at the south end of the range. 👍

you said it my Brother from another Mother
Well done 👍 I enjoyed watching
Wow thanks for the tour of that massive mine. Scared me a few times in there... I'm not what I used to be like younger.... Great stuff..
What was the percentage of gold with that copper, I wonder
at best 1/2 ounce per ton
I see you're wearing a back pack, Kris! They work, don't they! I want a silver mine. Then, I can put on a mask, get a white horse, and say Hiyo, silver!
Bottom ,of the grizzly, bottom of the grizzly!!!
Last year was hard on all of us.
Wow. That’s amazing. So much work.
Yes it was!
always enjoyable and learn things. thanks man, stay gold pony boy
Had a blast watching, howdy Jeff
thanks Bill , got a lot more on the way
Silver has such a refining prosses I often wonder why gold cost more. But that's just my opinion keep up the hard work Jeff we love you
I guess gold has so much an alure. That dives people plum crazy .. we don't go and build a machine for getting silver. And gold is more sought after. Silver is very abundant. And it doesn't have as many uses
Love this video..love you Jeff..come on ,let's gold.
Jeff will you smelt any of the ores found here like the silver etc? That would be cool to see.
Slim working the gold mine. When the boss is away I’m going to get my share out before Jeff returns!
That looks like so much fun.
Good stuff jeff love the underground stuff
Very interesting and educational. Thanks for the tour. Those mines look like great snake and bat territory
Thanks for watching!
Great Job Jeffery! I miss being underground! A few more weeks and I'll be down to the ranch! Stay Safe Out There!

Man looks like you guys found a little buried city. Really cool video thanks👌
The section of seam (around 9:47) with rounded rock (and you said 'no gold in it).. would that be what they called Caleche' (others spell it differently) ? Almost like cement if memory serves me. Loved the adventure Jeff.
That’s sooo amazing!

9-25-2021:. HAPPY SABBATH DAY, JEFF. Christ is King. 💕💕💕
thanks Jeff for another great adventure --- often while watching your exploration in these abandon mines -I think of all those massive timber's and thousands of feet of lumber -how many home could be built ? -- I guess the trick would be not to have the mine collapse while taking out this great treasure of lumber - has it been done ? - please advise
Yeeeeee Haaaaaa.
Thanks for sharing this Jeff..
Cheers Famo59 👍🍻🤓⛏
TONY !!!!!!!! you betcha my friend ...stay safe and we will see you hopefully soon
Heck yeah!!! Good times👍⛏️
Great adventure, yup let’s just blast through the mountain it’s faster…. Every 50 feet blasting look an ore pocket oooooh another and another and another and another….. someone got very rich in that mine and I’m sure there’s millions more that hasn’t been found.I can only imagine some of the crystal formations they found and tossed away as rubbish smh. Chrysocolla you say…. Any of it gem quality? Mmm that’s the good stuff. Thanks for sharing see you on the next👍🏻👊🏻one hopefully you have more footage from this expedition
yep we got more of these on the way
Ataahua. Morena Jeff...means Beautiful morning here in NZ 🤗

Jeff, how knackered was Joanne when y'all got back to the top, going downs the easy bit, me I woulda struggled and wouldn't be able to walk for a week lol..

My back was perfect. My legs however... I'm badly out of shape so this was a good way to start getting back into exploring shape. Thanks for asking! 😎

Jeff you will be hearing from us very soon. Looking forward to learning from you while helping you secure your mines and helping you with any welding mechanical problems you have. Selling our house and putting it all into gold mining. Jk man not putting all in a mine but definitely will be helping you out to earn the schooling from you. We will probably teach each other a lot brother. We will have our camper and freedom to go wherever you need us. Thanks for the video all of you my friends.
