- Did you know that Flushed Away was released on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo DS? Did you also know that getting good footage from a handheld console without a capture card is difficult?
This is the first recorded speedrun of Flushed Away for the Nintendo DS (it was actually like my 5th run, but the other ones either had technical difficulties or I forgot to press record). Pretty sloppy in some sections, but at least I know what I'm doing in the game now.
The main story is pretty short, but there’s still a fair amount to optimize. I’ve only had this game for a few hours at this point, so there are probably more quirks and better routes to find. Tali-Cancels: Roddy moves faster when he is using his Dash Attack, but it doesn’t go that far and there’s a significant amount of cooldown at the end, so walking normally ends up being faster long-term. However, if Roddy dash attacks off a ledge, the dash attack will be cancelled, thus skipping the lengthy cooldown. If he does this over a gap, he’ll only have his midair jump to make it across, so be wary of when you Tali-Cancel.
Fast Pipe Climb Exit: The whole reason for coming into this room is to pick up the Mission Map at the summit. Once you snag it, you’ll need to climb back down and go back to where you entered the room initially. You can skip going back down by dying after you pick up the map, which respawns you at the room’s entrance while you still retain the map. Just leave the room at this point.
The Boss Battles: Le Frog and The Toad can go into a “bad cycle” where they use a move which makes them invulnerable to attacks (jumping on the wall to throw bombs and rolling around the room, respectively). Just hound them before they get the chance to do something stupid and waste time.
Other things: Obviously, there's the whole route to explain, plus even figuring out what the most optimal route is. Literally no one has speedran this game yet, so I'll try to experiment on my own and hope other people start as well.
