@@moist603 That's fucking wrong, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Sbmm has been in every single cod sense atleast cod4... Sbmm is just stronger and more strict in certain cods... stop lying to yourself
You did get better though. Your skill isn't related to the skill of others. Beating up on rookies doesn't make you good, it makes you a bully. Granted, it feels like the swing is a little hard in this game, but not too bad. It would be like thinking you aren't good at guitar because someone else on the bill had a better guitar player than you.

For sure, it also strengthen's ur mental state. Imaging getting nuked 5 games in a row per night. When you go to work the next day, you can take what ever sh*t that's thrown at you because you've endured a 5 consecutive nuked games last night :D
Nah it's fucked up in this mode, I've played games where a tactical nuke was dropped on me and I've never got killed by the opponent or I got killed by his streaks but never his gun, never saw the guy but I got a nuke dropped on me
No it's because of the lobby filters youre using. Because not everyone is using the same filters youre using they have to switch lobbies every game or everyone that selected 2-3 game modes could be playing the same game mode every game
Another reason is maps. If you just finished a 10v10 map and are about to start a 6v6 one with the same lobby, 4 people on each team would have to be kicked.
One thing I miss about the old cods is that back then, most games I played were casual and when someone was trying hard I could push them back, try too, and really build a competitive nemesis for a few games. That isn't here and won't be with SBMM.
Yes lol I miss the days when you could stay in the game with the same players and try to out smart each other the next game. Having had a 2.0 and better KD in most CoD now it’s hard to even enjoy this new one due to SBMM and having to find a new lobby every game
This just makes my play sessions shorter, I remember back in the mw2 days I could spend HOURS playing non stop. Now I just play a couple games and thats it
Literally, everything you've said is how i feel. I have a 1.95 kd and all of a sudden i realized that all the players i was playing against were soo good and my kd started to drop. I felt like i wasn't good anymore and i couldn't improve
Out of interest, what's your KD at the moment? A week after this comment? I started MW at 1.30 and I've dropped to 1.05. Back in the days of MW2 I had 2.49. Exactly the same play style...maybe I'm just old...
ShadowzZ91 I have 2.07 Kd now I had to change my style of play, I still run around the map but more of walking than running cuz you don’t want people to hear you
A little late here but in the first few hundred hours I had a 2.75 kd but as I leveled up and developed sbmm has bent me over and ran my kd down to 1.6
SBMM makes it feel like I have to try my ass off during every single game which was enough of a reason several times to make me not want to play when I was feeling even slightly tired.
Yeah at least in BO4, I played it way longer since launch. I’m still lvl 42 in this game. I just wanna chill and own sometimes. But I have to try way too hard to have fun. And that’s good, sometimes.
It's fascinating how this "one step forward but two steps back" mentality has been a thing in CoD for so long. One year CoD introduces a better quality of life change (for example: point-streaks, ability to buy attachments you like via points, ability to opt out of being put into a losing match in progress) and the team that is working on the CoD that's releasing next year doesn't include these things. Not being able to see this invisible rating number sucks and constantly playing Ground War with it's terribly balanced tanks that can see in 3rd person mode gets annoying quite quickly. What I am trying to say is that when you have to try your hardest every game, not only does it intimidate experimentation with loadouts because everyone is sweating in a corner with a M4 or 725 but it also makes leveling up things like pistols and camos the worst it's EVER been.
XXNemesisXXXX Leveling up guns is very demoralizing lmao. I enjoy search and cyber a lot, minus the shit spectator glitch, but trying to level the deagle in these modes is infuriating. You don’t do good, toxic players talk shit. So, you swap to a gun that is passed level 30 to help your team.

Not sure if you actually watched or just didn't understand. The strict SBMM that Ace and Driftor discovered was strongly correlated to the last 5 games statistics. It means you're going to roller coaster a bunch, not that you'll always have sweat lobbies. If anything their research should encourage people that IW is on to something. If you have a shitty few games, here's an easier lobby. Oh it looks like you're crushing it, here's some more competitive lobbies to hone your skills.
@@levig6238 not sure why your blabbering this to me based on my comment lol, but I'm in the same boat as ace and the majority really of not liking sbmm. It gives you zero sense of getting better or accomplishment when the better you get the more meta and sweaty the lobbies you get will be. Especially in a casual shooter if they want to do strong sbmm just as was said make a ranked playlist. Variety as they say is the spice of life with sbmm you get very little variety.
I agree with the video and Brett this sbmm is a joke it’s not for casual play make a ranked league for that how they hell am I going to get 50 pistol headshots with players of the same skill level rocking a ak47 two hits Iam out but I’ve too land 5 first never going to happen but if I come across a noob it can get done so every match Iam getting 2/3 headshots and slowly getting the challenge done but no grinding this year it seems just like no prestige the whole idea is flawed xp means nothing to a max level player daily challenges mean nothing trials double count weekend all pointless and now the only thing you did have which was challenges are near on impossible too complete unless you have 4 shite games before hand to get a noob lobby
Constructive criticism isn't bitching. There are always some people who expect the best of the best, but most of the community's just annoyed by this unneeded and overly strict feature
Yea, it prevents us from developing that special rivalry with someone where we learn their style over a few games and have the opportunity to think strategically about how to beat them.
J, Parkin not on cod it isn’t, we haven’t got the best netcode for it. Many people are in 100+ ping lobbies. Get a grip and wake up as to why people are against it.
J, Parkin not everyone wants to play competitively in pubs every time they turn the game on. It’s misery using off meta weapons when you have a 2.5+ KD or so. But wait I’m assuming you probably get nukes with your eyes closed while playing with your toes right?

@@kacbor6848 Yeah, suffer 3-5 bad, campy low K.D matches just to get one good round only to go through the same process again. Seems like a fair tradeoff. God, isn't SBMM awesome?
100% honest here: I dont think MW is as bad as some ppl say, I think it's the SBMM that makes it bad cuz you will NEVER feel like you're doing well, and you as a skiled players is not used to that.
Most of the maps aren't very well made Or let's say they are well made for campers because there are a ton of corners and windows. If someone comes around there the chance that he is able to check all corners and windows is literally not there. So the maps allow easy kills for campers....there were maps like this before MW but not that many
MW would have the ingredients for a really good game but SBMM brings it all down. Smooth gameplay, really fun weapons, awesome killstreaks, attention to detail... But then SBMM makes 90% of the weapons non-viable because they aren't top tier. Everyone and their mother just runs around with M4s and SMGs. You never experience the best killstreaks because of how impossible it is to get them. You're lucky to see the occasional VTOL. Maps would be tolerable if you weren't only playing against sweats camping at every possible opportunity. Even good classic maps like Crash and Vacant turned sour because they became campfests and the map flow was gone. And you can't just relax and enjoy the visuals and attention to detail because you're playing super carefully just to get a simple UAV. Thanks skill based matchmaking!
thats 2 iq tho. do that on a smurf. then go on ur main and add all the ppl u just played in ur 0.2kd lobby and keep joining their games. how do u think youtubers get 3 nukes a day while having 3+ kd? they join the bots they just played against on their 0.2kd account
Im sorry but when you enjoy a game only 20% of the time you might wanna consider playing another game. Unless youre playing cod as your job theres no point in torturing yourself by playing a game you dont enjoy.
You might as well just play bot matches if you can only have fun owning literal 13 year olds. Fucking embarrassing, just admit you don't want to play a balanced game and instead need to have fun at the expense of others.

I’m the kind of player who runs and capture an average of 10 flags in domination while maintaining a reasonable 5 kills more than the amount of death I get. But now I’m forced to camp like everyone else and get 17 kills to 5 death and getting a lot less captures on average. Statistically it’s better but I’m not having fun anymore. Same here, i‘m wondering what kind of skill based matchmakinh this is where nobody is playing the objektive but camp for kills, it fucking sucks. There was no CoD back in the days where i had so many games finished due the outruning time
Lads im rank 4 and been matched with ranks over 100+. I have no idea where im going on these new maps and i cant even get of the bottom of the leaderboard. Max kills was 4 in one game. What ever happened to matchin you to the same rank or even offering a newbie lobby so you can get used to the maps. Im getting fucked every match by pro players.
Why do you get more points for kills rather than capturing objectives? That's what causes the camping I think. If they adjusted that for game modes that typically require you to move around the map I think that would create more of an incentive to move rather than camp.
I hate how the game forces you to use the meta weapons just to do good when all I want to do is just sit back, relax and just have fun. Use the guns I want and play the game the way I want to play it without the risk of my stats plummeting down into oblivion and just barely pushing positive. I hope the SBMM gets taken out or tweaked in the overhaul
it’s just frustrating that i want to enjoy the game and kids that even have a golden 725 keep abusing it forcing me to switch to 725 too. even tho after i fire back with 725 and destroy their ass it’s just not fun. i have a golden mp5 too and the reason i got most.of the camos was getting forced to abuse the mp5 because everyone was using it
Derek Hefner that doesn't make sense though, obviously there isn't going to be variety when there is SBMM, but you aren't getting placed against CoD pro players either. If someone is better than you, and you constantly get shit on in your games, then you're going to move back down in your hidden ranking. The game allowing you to constantly pubstomp would be fun for you, but then there's no challenge, which is ultimately the real issue at hand. People want the reward without the challenge
David Suarez you do know we’re talking about COD right? This isn’t a game designed around being at all competitive at the most casual level. If people want a challenge, they should have an option to play ranked, or play a game that’s better known for its competition. Not cod
Derek Hefner right, except people didn't complain about matchmaking UNTIL they were placed against so-called "sweats" (another buzzword for better players) so again, it's a matter of people not wanting the challenge but wanting the reward
Every Wonder why they tie your activision account to the game when no other cod has done this ? It's because they are looking at your prior stats from prior games to add this into there bullshit sbmm.
@@Ololz22 Adding a ranked playlist means getting rid of ELO in casual. Hows your internet connection? Watch the killcams and you'll probably see that while it looked like you got shots on target in the kill cam you were shot in the back. @@rolandcraggs348 I think the point here has to do with there being a hidden ranking system. Hence why there is no correlation between overall k/d in any given lobby despite getting wildly different types of matches every so often from casual to sweaty and getting wrecked in an instant. Also killcams in cod are notoriously inaccurate.
@@smizdeazy the ranking system isn't 'hidden', it's just too complex to reverse engineer, the reason you get wildly different matches is there are a low number of matches for the algorithm to work with. The SBMM will get better the longer it's used. There's no correlation to overall K/D because it's irrelevant. The algorithm goes off your K/D on Xx map in Yy gamemode, taking into account your K/D against the average of the lobby in the last 5, maybe more games of the same mode on the same map. This must be an issue for other players. Not everyone has a 1gigabite internet provider like youtubers.
I'm currently 1.05 as far as my kd. I can’t tell you how many times I have lost a close one and not had the chance at redemption. Those are two of my favorite things about COD. they should realize other games are promoting playing with friends. This game only promotes playing with friends of your equal skill level ...
i can almost predict when it's gonna happen. Everything you said was pretty accurate. Really feels like it averages your K/D for the session, and you explained it wonderfully.
I’m sure the comment was innocent, however it was very inappropriate. Suggesting people with disabilities is poor form, although I don’t think it was a deliberate thing
The craziest thing is that they have implemented a ranked and a casual mode in Cod mobile, and right now, it's way more fun to play than the actual Modern Warfare. I play with my friends and enjoy basically every game mode there is, it's very casual unless you go in the top end of the ranked mode. It's beyond me how they didn't implement the same thing in the actual game, there is literally no reason for that.
I have a busy life (cliche) and I just casually play and at first mw was very fun but when I played enough now I only play with sweats and it killed the game for me unless I’m actually trying to sweat
Why they dont make it like the good old cod4 times ? also private servers and a list where everyone can chose which lobby they go in and not get forced to change every time and play maps that are hate GG
Thanks for this, I did notice the difference, I’m low skill at the moment and notice when on my own I do better and when playing with my buddy whose high skilled I just get annihilated. So I 110% agree with you!
GhstEagle 556 when I'm playing I do ok. Nothing too special. When I play with my friend whose better than me I swear I'm going against players who snort energy drinks and it's terrible
I'm curious about how this is implemented. I was leveling up my magnum today (both to get snake shot to see how it is and completing challenges/missions/ribbons) and while playing with my son (who is a much better player than me) in shoot house I would be lucky to get beyond single digits in kills in a match (and half of those from mines/claymores). Immediately following while playing on my own with the same setup in the same game modes my kills and score more than doubled. Not the top of the list, but also leveling a pistol and not running a normal setup. Granted, when I use my normal setups I can do fair in his lobbies (middle of the pack instead of consistently last) whereas in my own lobbies I'm consistently top 1-2 with a normal setup. It's interesting to say the least.
Well put Ace! Agree with every point you made here. Hopefully they address this soon. It’s getting pretty aggravating going against MP5 and M4 combos time and time again. If i don’t sweat, I feel as if I’m at an immediate disadvantage. That gets tiresome after a while. Glad to see you speaking up about this!
Didn’t think I could be persuaded against SBMM, but you presented some very persuasive arguments, and I have to agree, even looking back on my days of getting pubstomped. I really did have to start reconsidering my approach to gameplay and adjust accordingly to improve. Thanks as always for you hard work.
Hearing this and comparing it to my live experience explains a lot. I’m literally just gave this game away. Not playing games that only exist to frustrate.
Well said! The drive to improve is lost with this system. I watched this video to learn why I felt that I was getting better, but it was not evident in my score after matches through time. I now understand thanks to you. The developers should really listen to experienced and educated players like you. Or better yet, hire you as a consultant haha. Again, thanks.
I get your point that without strict SBMM averages will mean that, in any given lobby there will be a few above average players, a few below average, and the majority being average, but here's the thing you conveniently ignore... You're going to be one of the above average player in any given lobby. Even in the Skill Based lobbies, you apparently still have a KD of around 4, meaning you are 4x better than average -- by definition, almost every death stat for one person in any given match also has an associated kill stat for someone else, with the rare exceptions of suicides. You're always going to be someone who, on average, kills more often than you are killed, and that is always going to come at the expense of someone else's enjoyment. I'm going to be one of the below average players, my KD hovers somewhere between 0.8 and 0.9. Without SBMM averages mean that, in any given lobby, there is USUALLY going to be someone with an average KD of around 2.5-3 or higher, and when you're a player with an average KD around 0.85, I'm never going to be able to compete with that. Your fun is ALWAYS going to come at my expense. And that 0.85 comes in SBMM lobbies. In previous COD's and games with less strict SBMM, that usually hovers at around 0.5-0.75 and you know what, I usually quit the game before pretty quickly, because it isn't fun! At around level 120 with over 50 hours of play time, around 13 kills per game on average, who knows the maps, and game modes, that protected lobby isn't for me, it absolutely wouldn't be fair on the genuinely new players, but, I also don't want to play the meta either. It's incredibly boring to me to be sitting on rooftops sniping or guarding corners of rooms. I want to run and gun with the guns I like (P90 FTW), not the 3 that the meta demands. On those occasions where I end up in a lobby with even 1 or 2 players with a high KD, and who are really playing the meta, I really begin to dislike the game. This is the first COD game I've played for more than a few hours, because usually the lobbies I end up in are unplayable and frustrating. Ending up being killed within 30 seconds of spawning every single time, and maybe only getting 2 or 3 kills in a game isn't fun. Never winning, and always being bottom of the board isn't fun. Being cussed out by your team for not pulling your weight isn't fun. SBMM lets me play the game in a way that is mostly fun for me, gives me the feeling of contributing to my team's success (I have a win rate that hovers between around 1.6 and 1.8, a lot of my deaths come from playing the objective in lobbies with players who are just there to rack up kills and pad their KD). If you found it so refreshing to play the game without worrying about having to play the meta, then can I suggest that the solution isn't to make the game SIGNIFICANTLY less fun for below average players by removing SBMM, but to worry less about your KD, worry less about the meta, and play the game in the way you want. Yes, your stats will look less impressive. Yes, you perhaps won't have so many of those highlight reel games, but if you play that way, you'll inteviably end up in lobbies with other players who do the same in a pretty short order of time.

Most of the maps aren't very well made
Or let's say they are well made for campers because there are a ton of corners and windows. If someone comes around there the chance that he is able to check all corners and windows is literally not there. So the maps allow easy kills for campers....there were maps like this before MW but not that many
Good point, that's exactly what I think of myself when playing public matches

Derek Hefner that doesn't make sense though, obviously there isn't going to be variety when there is SBMM, but you aren't getting placed against CoD pro players either. Everyone is average in terms of stats, but literally everyone is good in this game, every lobby i get into the enemies react in -12 years
Hows your internet connection? Watch the killcams and you'll probably see that while it looked like you got shots on target in the kill cam you were shot in the back. It's not just ping, there's throttled upload speeds and packet loss to consider. If your upload speed is bad your actions aren't getting to the server before they've dropped you.
I have 4Mb/s and only 400Kb/s up, so although it looks like I drill the enemy and get hitmarkers, in the kill cam I barely get a shot off and they miss 😭
You can blame the CoD killcams and SBMM if you want, but nothing is ever that simple.
@@rolandcraggs348 how's the net code?? It's not the players it's the servers

In Infinite Warfare i was averaging around 1.5-2 kd. Sometimes 3-5.
Now i have like 0.9. Honestly the sbmm is just ridiculous.
Same. My K/D’s on CoD4, MW2, and black ops were all 2.5-3 now I’m always between 0.95 - 1.10
honestly my kd in the past month from bo1, bo2, and bo3 all are between 1.5 to 2.2 and i do play these games regularly still. on mw, its 1.04 :(. ground war is 1.68 so obviously normally matchmaking is broken
@@Energysunn2215 Yup I get the same, between 1.8 to 3 depending on the COD and the year I played, now I'm around 1 to 1.1. It's frustrating because I know I'm good at the game but I just start raging when I have to sweat like crazy to stay competitive in higher brackets.
Jeffrey B yeah I definitely noticed a drop to my KD which low key makes me sad cause I always thought I was a good player, but if my KD dropped than that means I have to get better, b/c players like ImMarksman are good and can handle harder lobbies, and it shows I can’t... I do wish for a ranked style game type for public matches so I can see improvement, because right now sometimes I’m like “yes I’m actually improving” than others I’m not doing great, just average.

@@kensapartmenttours1594 it sucks but in my lobbies i feel like i cant win a gun fight without those weapons, cause you can bet your ass the guy shooting at me is using an m4, and if im not shooting back with one, im fucked.

DMIAmiPunisher I’ve been saying this for a while
And thats why i have to wait 40 seconds just to get into a lobby

Ofcourse your kd isnt that high because when you start getting better you get matched vs better players so its hard to get a good kd
Struggling to hold a 1.8kd. Only rank 60 but this game is a joke. I don't want to be punished for being good. I literally run around like a headless chicken and what i have found is my connection is ok for the first match, due to the game not caring too much about skill level, the higher the lobby the higher ping.
This must be an issue for other players. Not everyone has a 1gigabite internet provider like youtubers.
I had a 1.34 kd in this game now it's only 1.19 bcs I always get sweaty camp noob lobbies...
I'm currently 1.05 as far as my kd. I'll have games where I go 20-9 or 19-1 and then immediately after have games where I'm going 8-13 or something similar due to being spawn trapped/killed over and over. It is so freaking annoying. I've spawned just a few feet from an enemy before. Absolutely ridiculous!
One time I spawned so close to the enemy that had just killed me that he 725 spawn killed me 3 times in a row. No time to react at all.
