@@stevent2671 I'm merely speculating on why IW made it this way. Of course acquiring a target with optics is easier in real life. But we're talking about a game mechanic regarding bringing your rifle up from low ready. Just because optics in real life have negligible weight and won't slow down bringing the rifle up doesn't mean the developers didn't exaggerate the added weight to indeed slow it down in-game for balancing.
@@stevent2671 Also, ADS time is more how fast you can bring your gun up in game, not how fast you can visually acquire target, so you're comparing two different things. In real life , you're gonna be able to bring a carbine like an AR or M4 with iron sights up faster than an M249 with an optic. Why? Because of the weight difference. I tried to quantify vertical and horizontal recoil reduction for the M4A1 at 3:00 TL:DR: Best attachments are Compensator, Muzzle Break and Commando Foregrip. Read more for details. I counted the pixels between the lowest and highest point of each spray pattern for the vertical recoil. I counted the pixels between the left most and right most point of each spray pattern for the horizontal recoil. I also estimated the deviation of bullets in the first 15 shots. It would have been more reliable if multiple spray patterns from multiple magazines were overlayed on top of each other. I can't trust the horizontal recoil very much, so take that with a grain of salt. The vertical recoil reduction should be fairly consistent though, from my own testing too. Here are the results: Muzzle Brake: -18% vertical, -8.94% horizontal recoil with LITTLE horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Compensator: -27.21% vertical, -13.58% horizontal recoil with LARGE horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Commando Foregrip: -12.52% vertical, -0.66% horizontal recoil with EXTREMELY LITTLE horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Merc Foregrip: -25.2% vertical, -20.19% horizontal recoil with MEDIUM horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Ranger Foregrip: -20.2% vertical, -7.94% horizontal recoil with MEDIUM horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Operator Foregrip: -23.87% vertical, -11.92% horizontal recoil with MEDIUM horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Rubber Rear Grip: -10.68% vertical, -0.66% horizontal recoil with LARGE horizontal deviation in the first 15 bullets Recommended choice for vertical recoil reduction: Compensator Recommended choice for horizontal recoil reduction: Commando Foregrip. They are reduced by very negligible amounts either way though. Enjoy.
Hello everyone, I took some time to follow up on some weapon recoil tests made by: (TheXclusiveAce) When choosing attachments to make your recoil significantly better, I found a few interesting things: 1) The weapon stats reflected in the menu from various attachments are some what untrue, and some even are completely untrue. 2) Many weapons will occasionally demonstrate recoil that varies from normal standards - (an outlier) 3) I tested every attachment on their own, and then tested each combination changing only 1 attachment, then putting the best against one another. 4) I tested each weapon variant twice, and also tested one weapon from each class with the worst recoil. 5) Stocks had by far the least useful affect on recoil and can be replaced with a scope or perk. Here are the hands down best recoil attachments for all weapons with a automatic fire rate in combination: + Muzzle: (Compensator) + Barrel: (The longest barrel measured in inches" ) *Make sure the effects state it affects recoil control + Underbarrel: (Merc Foregrip) + Reargrip: (Rubberized Grip Tape) + Stock: (Any stock that adds aiming stability) Hope this helps you guys! It certainly surprised me as some of the information I found contradicts what I thought previously.
@@LukesYT23 Yes it is. The stats on the weapon display do not accurately present the affect the attachment has on your weapon. Even though the ranger attachment is unlocked later on many guns it seems to have a lesser result on recoil. Hip fire accuracy is increased with the ranger foregrip however. So if for instance you wish to use the ranger on a run and gun sub class, it would be a better choice. In terms of pure recoil it is worse.
Paiden Easley what about commando? Been seeing a lot of pros use this on their slow AR classes for the stability but is it significantly worse than merc?
@@LukesYT23 Ah yes! HOWEVER many attachments decrease aiming stability, so if you are using a long range sight, like a 3.25 zoom acog, then are likely going to want some stability and thats where the commando comes in. If I had to give pure recoil percentages to commando vs Merc, the commando is perhaps a 10% reduction / the Merc is more like 20%. Hope that helps!

Just to make note and I've tested this recently. But when going for the "best spread" pay attention to the Recoil Control on the gun stat bar and not the individual attachment words, some aiming stability attachments actually give better recoil control I.E. Tactical Foregrip. Whereas Recoil Control attachments gear more often towards the Accuracy stat. Also oddly enough Recoil Control for the stat bar effects the 680's spread, and accuracy helps the FR 5.56 the most. This game is all over the place. Hard to keep track
Commando foregrip is by far the best, it helps with keeping your recoil vertical, it helps with ideal sway and it also doesn’t reduce your aim down sight time like the other grips
But it drastically reduces your movement speed. Try running a gun without it and you'll see for yourself. I loved the commando grip, but now I rarely use it.
3:15 - if all patterns are similar, with the Rubber Rear Grip you miss that the first 5 bullets are within the same distance of the first-to-second jump of the "base". THAT IS HUGE!!! It is exactly the first few shots that matter the most!
It stacks but it recoil pattern becomes really weird (especially the RAM-7 or the M4). You’re better off putting a Control Attachment and a Stabilization Attachment to get the full effect out of it
Yeet Meister the best of both worlds you can get is compensator alongside with the commando foregrip. You get reduced horizontal and vertical recoil so you are more accurate. Also I recommend putting on the longest barrel on a gun that helps with your vertical as well such as the “Stock M16 Grendier” barrel on the M4A1.

The thing I noticed with the first set of tests 2:47 is that the bounce from the first shot to the second is all reduced significantly by those attachments - which is more beneficial than the rest of the recoil pattern makes it seem, as you'll hit your early shots. Possibly something you missed Ace
I wonder if you flipped it and instead of comp (control)+commando(stab) you had muzzle brake (stab) + merc (control). Merc also gives you hipfire, so on the MP7 which I hipfire with a lot, maybe that's a better way to go.
yeah naming those effects "horizontal recoil" "vertical recoil" "idle sway" "idle wobble" would be too easy and too telling.. wtf is wrong with the heads of the gameplay in this game

One thing that is interesting is the grouping of the shots. Usually, you are not going to spend a whole mag into one guy, if you do you are dead already. Probably the first 10 shots are what it counts, from the images you can notice that some attachments provide better groupings, thus helping land the first 10 shots more easily and killing the enemy faster.
@TheXclusiveAce Great video man, just wanted to give you some props. The time and effort you put into your MW content is apparent and for a nerdy stat guy like myself this kind of content is very valuable and interesting. Keep it up!
Seems like it might reduce vertical recoil on a bullet-by-bullet basis for x% instead of directly changing the max magnitude like the compensator, but I don't know. If that is the case then the reargrip would actually be a lot better on certain guns with recoil patterns where there is a lot of empty space between shots.
I was waiting for this science myth to be cracked off, thank you Ace. Next myth which I am looking for is "Stock Variants" because I can't see the different between "No stock" and Base Gun at all. I will hold my breath for you to crack this.
Ace, i would love if you could revisit the aiming stability aspect of the video. Testing has shown that this “sway” continues even after your first shot. effectively making the recoil patters more inconsistent. That’s actually where the inconsistency of the recoil pattern comes from.
XRK M4 has Commando Foregrip and FFS 12.4" Predator instead of compensator, but it obviously has great recoil control. FFS 12.4" doesn't have the PROS Recoil Control.

yeah he kinda forgot about it lol... from what i seen i think he said it basically isnt worth it because ots similar reduction to the foregrips, but you have to be crouching or laying down for it to work
After watching this vid, I looked at your subs and holy shit man how are you not even at 1M? I wasn't even aware of this till now, these are the type of videos where you shine and you've been a great help for me since BO3, you deserve more man you're a great help with these types of videos, at least for me and Ik that's the case for a lot of others
Edit: on top of that, I always see the amount of work that is put into these videos or any other (gun guides, maps exposed, etc.) And that is something I always appreciate
9:19 hey ace that's some brilliant spawn there. 🤣
I’m rarely comment on youtube but man XclusiveAce you are the GOAT!
So glad i found you 2 years ago.
Hey Ace my how do you feel about people saying all the maps should be removed
Oh yes that is a super reasonable and easy change
Ameer Rehman I personally think that people should learn the maps before calling for them to be removed
I actually agree all the maps are way too big(-gulag showers)but it just make the pace of the game way too slow i understand the game is ment to be realistic but its just not fun to play for me
If they where to fix it they could just release 1 good map and remove one of the old ones and fix them 1 by 1
Everything else however is good the guns is good(snipers need a buff) and story is fire so i would rate mw right now a 5/10
Swagboi deathfist I was joking
The thing I noticed with the first set of tests 2:47 is that the bounce from the first shot to the second is all reduced significantly by those attachments - which is more beneficial than the rest of the recoil pattern makes it seem, as you'll hit your early shots. Possibly something you missed Ace
Mr. Ace when are you going to release the gun guides for COD MW
After I get the important attachments covered so I won't have to repeat myself too much in each gun guide and I can keep them a reasonable length
@@TheXclusiveAce I want videos longer than 10 minutes
They'll be longer than 10 but I'm trying to keep them under 20 minutes
@@TheXclusiveAce Thanks for replying to my comment. It is like the best thing that has happened to me today
Love that Spawn at 9:20, the sound effect was classic! Great video Ace, can't wait for your next one.
3:50 you headshot a little girl, you monster..
@@cash7669 huh? What did they name it now?
Because placebo effect is a thing
I love this content! You take a deep dive with a real methodical approach to evaluating attachments. Subscribed
"Commando Forefrip" POGGERS
Gun guide is gonna be lit this year.
I all ready uninstalled. just supporting the video.
JimisJames why did you uninstall?
@@Creeper333pl because the game is garbage
@@King-AD it's the people playing, not the game. Just imagine what's gonna happen when the Christmas Noobs come to town.
Did you get it for Xbox and did you get a hard copy or digital?
No need to announce your departure.
I never regret watching an Ace video, thanks for putting in the time to make this, helped tremendously!!
Don’t want to experience recoil and worry about wasting an attachment on controlling it?
Don’t worry!
JUST SIT IN A SPAWN WITH THE 725 SHOTGUN
Good stuff bro. Out of dozens of dozens of other channels, looking at similar info. You're only one I subscribed to. Good work, all around, really.
9:21
This is when I uninstall
Used to watch a ton during BO4. Glad to be back. Thx for all u do my guy
I have never had this little fun playing cod. Campers everywhere
same. hate this game already and regret buying it
kekw, play it right.
@@Max-dv1kq or with other words: Play it without using your left analog stick and be a pussy. stfu this game is trash
Hay Rettin i’m not touching this game again until they change something that nerfs camping into the ground
Try HQ. The problem is most modes don't have a proper objective
You sir are a scientist and a scholar. Thanks, for all of your work on finding the best way to melt a camper head glitching in a corner.
What about a video on "how to stay alive and keep your streak going"
My highest killstreak is 10, it is so dumb that you can call one single UAV per life and if everyone on the enemy team is using ghost you are fu..k
Antonio Ayala they Made the game a constant loop of one thing canceling the next and so forth. These videos are dumb. Play how you’re comfortable and figure out ways to fuck up the meta
So is the compensator better than the monolithic suppresor
Fantastic video! I love seeing the effects of modifications instead of just being told what to use.
Damn dude, you went through and dotted every single bullet hole for every attachment on every gun by hand? Kudos for all the hard work! 😦
I don't know what I would do without yours videos Ace.....keep it up
This was more a confirmation video, for me. Thank you for sealing the deal. No more supressors, or silencers. 🤘🏻😁
Incredible guide! You are really turning cod into science and I applaud you for that!
Excellent work ace!! Other TH-camrs can't compete with your gun videos!!
Really looking forward to the gun guides. They're always some of my favorite cod vids on TH-cam
Is there such a video for the FAL?
@TheXclusiveAce Great video man, just wanted to give you some props. The time and effort you put into your MW content is apparent and for a nerdy stat guy like myself this kind of content is very valuable and interesting. Keep it up!
Can you revisit this? I think aiming stability actually makes a difference in recoil when shooting. For example put a m16 stock on an m4...
The best guide about recoil in all of TH-cam
This is the kind of information serious players need . Keep making them. Thank you bro. 👍🏼😎
I like how you describe what matters and we build it ourselves
3:14 The Rubber rear grip makes a difference. Look at your own patterns! 5 shots land between what only 2 would do on the base weapon.
Actually now that I say that the other attachments do the same thing but they also seem to just reduce the total a lot more
i think you should add a vertical line up from the first bullet on the recoil patterns so we can see how much they deviate laterally
I was waiting for you to post a video about this, you're the best! I can't wait for those gun guides!
I was waiting for this science myth to be cracked off, thank you Ace. Next myth which I am looking for is "Stock Variants" because I can't see the different between "No stock" and Base Gun at all. I will hold my breath for you to crack this.
Tbh with you this guy should have more then 1 million subscribes
Is it just me or does the muzzle brake give you tighter groupings than the compensator although with more vertical recoil?
Yayyyyyy I can't wait for the ADS speed video! Thanks for this one Ace I've been looking forward to the series coming out
So is I put merc rubber and compensator will I get very little recoil
Ace, i would love if you could revisit the aiming stability aspect of the video. Testing has shown that this “sway” continues even after your first shot. effectively making the recoil patters more inconsistent. That’s actually where the inconsistency of the recoil pattern comes from.
@TheXclusiveAce this is sick, I like these analysis episodes you do.
XRK M4 has Commando Foregrip and FFS 12.4" Predator instead of compensator, but it obviously has great recoil control. FFS 12.4" doesn't have the PROS Recoil Control.
This is incredibly thorough and well done. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
