The cartoon series was made when DC couldn't use the name Superboy. Because of a lawsuit over ownership of the name. The narration would say, young Superman, and The legionnaires would call him Superman in the cartoon.
Well it IS still Superman. And Superboy is a different character completely anyways.

Well in the comics they're bankrolled by the richest man in the galaxy and the founder of the United Planets and Science Police, R.J. Brande. The team was founded when Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, and Saturn Girl inadvertently stopped an assassination attempt on his life while coincidentally on their way to Earth for their own unique reasons. Brande was reminded of the stories of 20th century superheroes, particularly Superman, in their actions and offered to bankroll them if they would take up superheroics and work for the safety of the United Planets. The three agreed, founded their superhero club and the rest was history. Later stories also established unique careers and circumstances of each member that helped them provide funds for their club as well; these ranged from sports and arts sponsorships, to scholastic and research achievements, to high-standings in society such as wealthy and/or royal/noble families.

@@AryanKing94 Should have precise: 35:07 Here lighting lad says that heroes don't take money for helping. But they don't get their stuff for free either so if they don't get paid for savings peoples, that mean they are funded by wealthy sponsors and i think it's quite hypocrite and unrealistic to reproach to peoples that demand a fee for their service (even if they turned out later to be extortionists) when you don't have to worry yourself about your incomes.
They got money from a rich millionaire (for the 30th century). The 3 founding members Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad saved rJ Brande's life so he donated money so they could finance their clubhouse.

This is an EXCELLENT example of why A.I.s should NOT be the NORM. It keeps referring to SUPERBOY as SUPERMAN. Any AVERAGE kid knows that Clark Kent did not put on the cape until he became a MAN. However, in the ongoing REVISED DC COMICS HISTORY, when we are introduced to Clark Kent as a boy in an ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, he is introduced as SUPERBOY! Just think of what other things an A.I. will get WRONG!!!???

@@nestermrcool In that world, yes. In the old Legion of super Heroes comic and in the series in the video it was Superboy. There was a clone of Superboy in that series too, but they gave him another name. And they brought in the older superman in a later season.

This show is about SUPERMAN. As a matter of fact there are 2 of them in this show. The other one was Superman X. Everything you guys are talking about doesn't apply to this show.
