Having Penguin essentially stand in for the giant blind penguins from At the Mountains of Madness is actually pretty clever.
Bro I’m so glad someone said it I was waiting for this comment. Everything here reminds me so much of the mountains of madness I’m actually excited for this movie
This is probably the best Lovecraft re-imagining I have ever seen...and its animated.
Read the comic, it’s Mike Mignola and it’s literally just Batman doing Lovecraft and it looks like Hellboy. It’s great.
@@rikkisparx2980 Batman by Hellboy sounds like a fantastic mixture. I recently finished the full Hellboy saga last year and Mignola has a magnificent style that's coming through here.
You must watch _The Void_ and _In the Mouth of Madness,_ brother.
Finally another Batman movie with appealing animation and a intriguing story
Only thing missing is Batman because I didn’t hear Batman at all with this VA
Never in a million years would you have been able to convince me the best animated version of "Mountains of Madness" would involve /BATMAN/.
Having Penguin as the antagonist for a lovecraft themed plot is a brilliant fit I think, he can be very unsettling when done right.
Kevin Conroy is the gold standard that all others will need to live up to.
Rip to the legends Kevin Conroy and Adam West.
I did a little research on Lovecraft's stories and one of them "cool air" has a very distinct connection to Mr. Freeze (Victor Fries) as both are doctors who have to remain in cold temperatures in order to survive. Only Freeze is more mobile with his suit. I guess TDTCTG is just making it a more direct connection.
Lovecraft has been an inspiration for Batman for a very long time. Arkham Asylum gets its name from a fictional town featured in a lot of Lovecraft stories.
when I did my take on The masters of the universe my take on Horde prine Serpos and the unnamed one would always be my take on the Old ones from Lovecraft work and The snake men being my take on the Albino penguins with Serpos being the old to give birth to theme
I'm a huge fan of Lovecraft's work. Years ago I bought a collection of his stories, ONLY horror author to actually scare me. While I have enjoyed stories of King, etc, I never found them scary.
@@STB-jh7od that’s because locecract was an agoraphobic he was genuinely expressing his fear where king was traumatized at a young age he knows what people fear and how to express it
This is what the Batman live action movies really lack. They’re so set that Batman has to be gritty and real and are terrified to include anything, horror, supernatural or SciFi to them when those are often the most fun stories in the animated movies and comics. It doesn’t stop Batman from being the usual cool, methodical and smart protaganist, no matter the threat.
Yea the Dark Knight Trilogy really cemented a standard WB still follows but they follow the money.
Yup. Its a mentally unstable man dressing up as a bat and going around and punching People in the face. How gritty and real should you actually make it.
TIL that Batman was the antagonist of his own stories. It makes so much sense. I feel like my brain kinda exploded.
The Penguin: You don’t, think you will win do you?
Batman: Things change
Always reassuring to see how an unfathomable eldritch being predating space and time can be effectively contained with 10-12 cubic meters of ice.
You DARE question them with your limited mortal 3 dimensional thinking? :)
Eldritch horror stuff is the most boring kind there is. "This is freaky because you dont understand it because it makes no sense. There are rules but not really because you cannot even begin to comprehend how inconsistent they are. Also you're insane now lol"
If the ice is a cozy blanket and the unfathomable eldritch being enjoys sleeping, yeah it worls
Few minutes of this was better than all of the live action movies. Why overpay Hollywood superstars when the budget can go into every comic miniseries that ever was? This is American anime at its finest. Well done DC! Finally you get it!
Yea we need this animated movie to get sales that will raise some eyebrows at WB. This is the comic book genre desperately needs.
Tell them! Japanese anime are doing this better than the West, even though Batman and crew are American characters. Similar archetypes; different (usually more complex) stories over there. I don't see why WB couldn't pull it off.
I suggest that you leave your computer and apply for a job in Discovery Warner
They've almost always known it. Their animated universe in the 90s has always outshined almost everything else they ever did... They'd do better to just work off their live action tv series and build to cinematic events... but it's not as flashy as they want, unfortunately.
@@markcameron5513 who needs flashy when you can have something that caters to all types of audiences. Teen Titans did great for the kids, but I’d never let my kids watch or read the really disturbing graphic novels Dark Horse is known for.
Just watched this the other night it had a great story. I always enjoy the elseworlds stories where batman is in the past
Man we miss you Kevin now more than
ever.
So basically "At the mountains of madness" but with batman
Wow this looks like a fantastic Batman movie. DC always nails animated movies
LOVECRAFT BATMAN?! like actual Lovecraft references to actual stories not just "augh tentacles!!" Ahhhh yes please!!
Has this beyond the mountains of madness feel
Batman VS an eldritch horror is something I can get behind
This was a great movie- it stands alone as a story, with great animation, plot and acting.
The start here- with the frozen guy kneeling before some tentacled horror in the ice is a nod to the Hellboy comics (which start off with this).
It would actually be a nod to the actual batman comic this movie is adapted from. The comic "The doom that came to Gotham" was also one of Mike Mignola's works (guy who did the hellboy comics).
This whole movie is a "At the mountains of madness" homage from HP Lovecraft
If Warner Bros is reading my comment, can you please do more animated movies not based on Batman or Superman? Please do some animated movies based on the Flash, Blue Beetle, Wonder Woman, Stargirl, Supergirl, Red Tornado, Green Arrow, Doctor Fate, Hawkgirl, Captain Atom, Mister Terrific, Samurai, Mister Miracle, etc. You got to expand the animated movies with characters that haven't been seen on TV or in the movies. Batman & Superman have had movies every decade. Both animated and live action movies. I would love to see more animated movies especially on the Flash.
I think its a business decision, those 2 are most popular and their stories are more compeling than others. If you want others, I think you bring other heroes as side characters to those 2 and see how it goes
People love batman and superman. I know people that don't have much interest in anything other than batman.
Having said that, there are a ton of other characters in this movie. Oliver queen. Batgirl. Superman. Etrigan. Etc.
so glad that dc animated is still using voice actors
A animation that combines my 2 fav things. Batman and Lovecraft, should be interesting to see.
i was shook to my core when this continued after the dramatic cave entrance reveal
This Looks So Cool my friends. Thanks.
Yoooo I thought this was gonna be at the mountains of madness from the first second, v cool
Writer: Hey, can we do a Lovecraftian animated movie?
WB: No.
Writer: but if I include Batman,
WB: APPROVED!
DC animated movies are the best!! Way more entertaining than the mainstream versions 🙌😊
Love this preview, got chills at several scenes.
Es una buena película un poco enredada pero muy interesante se explica entre varios universos q nos llevan a otro mundo q no conocíamos es muy recomendable
Excellent movie. I already got my copy.
People come and go but animation will remain forever.
Gaddamn
Well this is an absolute watch
This is a great film!
topclass batman movie, DC has been briliant with the latest batman animated action:
Soul of the dragon - amazing
The long Halloween - excellent
The doom that... - probably the best batman movie
battle of the super sons could have been great but it lacked a thing or two
hope they continue releasing such quality
oooooo i love this comic! one of my favorite elseworlds. I do wish they kept the art style from the original tho.
decent voice for batman
R.i.P. Kevin Conroy
Batman vs Kathulu... This man has seen it all
This looks just as awesome as the comic :P
Excellent Movie
Ah yes Batman and Lovecraft, my two favorite things
Now i need to see this
Wasn’t really feeling the kaiju battle at the end, would’ve been nice if it became more psychological/paranormal when dealing with the “boss battle”, the ending was worth it tho hehe
3:36 when we used to play HP lovecraft RPG’s at uni and someone saw the monster for the first time, the game master would call out “sanity rolls!” And we would all have to roll the dice to see if our character remained sane!
Looks great
Nice ending
They really need to develop designs for Batman and Superman that keep them from looking like twins in every cartoon.
this was surprisingly not bad
Wait, so this reimagines the Penguin as a Lovecraftian horror...? Now he's actually scary.
And here I was, thinking Batman and Doomguy would finally have a 1v1
This reminds me of a mission from commandos 2
It looks like it got its inspiration from HP Lovecraft, mainly “At the mountain of madness”.
RIP Kevin Conroy, but this voice is not bad.
Looks like a keeper.
Cobblepot looks like the albino twin of Peter Griffin that was forced to live in the shed.
So cool
It's hard to believe that anime movies released almost 40 years ago sill have higher animation quality than today's American superhero animated films.
Alright I am beyond hyped for this and I really want to see how hard they go with gateway Harvey.
I read this graphic novel few years ago, revisited it when I saw trailer of adaptation and then, watched this movie. Rare but, animated movie is much better than that comic
Wow an animation that is better than the original adaptation pretty interesting 🤔. Was not involved in the production or after and didn't bother reading it at all and still am not but definitely giving the movie a chance. Wasn't even going to watch the movie tired of the sideline stories. To me personally it doesn't get any better than Red Sun Superman, Injustice and Kingdom come.
Mountain of madness
Very cool
Batman Vs Cthulhu.
Neat.
1:57 he's The Penguin now
How did he know where his pickaxe landed? He didn't even feel around for it. Does he have "eyes on the inside?"
Am confused is thiw different from the new universe thats being setup or what?( one where ackles is the bat )
So Batman at the mountains of Madness
Great movie
So when will this be on HBO Max? Or is it already on there?
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: The Demons
War-Zone At Season 3 on Friday May 12, 2023.
We Want Scrappy-Doo Back! 😀👍
When will it be on Hbo Max?
Cool
Gonna be dope
Batman is the new unit in Darkest Dungeon 2? SWEET
this was better then any batman movie
Doom came to Gotham the day Kevin Conroy died....😢 No one *I REPEAT NO ONE* will be able to voice Batman & Bruce Wayne as well ever again.
yes. very sad... ....like losing prime. thankfully peter still ok.
RIP conroy.
Batman is immortal. Conroy was one of the best avatars but won’t be the only one.
Yeaaaaah!
Hay here’s a thing cobalpot hasn’t been. A professor
Dark Knights meets Darkest Dungeon!
My man Jason marsden got to be nightwing this time👌
I think Jason moria I think that’s his last name he came close to Kevin Conroy
Not a bad voice but honestly wish they had Jensen take over permanently.
Batman at the Mountains of Madness?
Sure.
Why do I bother paying for HBO Max? The last few DC animated movies aren't available there!
I fw Bruce’s voice
No comments? Heck
All i wanna know is this gonna be apart of the new DCAMUniverse
no, it's an Elseworld aka stand alone movie. The new animated movie verse is called Tomorrowverse btw
Someone at WB has been playing Darkest Dungeon
we need a real mr freeze to combat global warming
Looks promising.
Please give us new movies of dc universe I love this movies need more tho lol
While no one can replace Conroy I think Bruce Greenwood has the next best Batman voice
i question that most of you that that f up braindeadmorons
batman have been voiced by different people in the same way in live action for Adam West to Christian Bale!
@@eddiejoewalt7746 Everyone knows that you braindeadmoron. He was stating that Conroy was the best and that's a fact.
I really liked Jason O'Mara, from the previous DC Animated Movie continuity.
Do you really think that ? Maybe?
Jason Ackles could be another candidate
