Medienkompetenz - so wichtig!

Wir kommunizieren heute anders als noch vor 25 Jahren: Handy, Soziale Medien, ein Leben in und mit der digitalen Welt. All das wird immer wichtiger in realen Lebenswelten. Der kompetente Umgang mit der Flut an Medien will gelernt sein, denn er ist wichtig für uns und nicht zuletzt für die Demokratie einer Gesellschaft. Die Art, wie wir 1999 kommuniziert haben, ist völlig unterschiedlich zur Kommunikation von 2024. Diese rapide Veränderung überfordert alle Bildungssysteme in der Welt. Das sagt Michelle Lipkin. Sie ist Geschäftsführerin der von ihr geschaffenen National Association for Media Literacy Education (@NAMLE) mit dem Sitz in den USA. Wir als Gesellschaft lernen erst langsam, mit dieser Situation umzugehen und hinken oft auch ziemlich hinterher, wenn es darum geht, Medienkompetenz zu beweisen. Diese ist allerdings unabdingbar, um Informationen richtig einzuordnen, einzuschätzen, zu bewerten und mit ihnen umzugehen. We communicate differently today than we did 25 years ago: cell phones, social media, a life in and with the digital world. All of this is becoming increasingly important in our real lives. Mastering the flood of media requires learning because it is crucial for us and, not least, for the democracy of a society. The way we communicated in 1999 is completely different from how we communicate in 2024. This rapid change overwhelms all educational systems in the world. This is what Michelle Lipkin says. She is the Executive Director of the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), which she founded and is based in the USA. As a society, we are only slowly learning to cope with this situation and often lag significantly behind when it comes to demonstrating media literacy. However, this is essential to properly classify, assess, evaluate, and handle information. The lecture was recorded as part of an event by ACADEMIA SUPERIOR, in cooperation with the US Embassy in Vienna, the OÖ Press Club, and the Education Center St. Magdalena. The lecture is in English.
