Don’t call real estate agents experts. They have a financially vested interest in prices going up. This should be disclosed.

Single people under 40 don’t have a chance, even rent is tough enough

    - Need to live with parents or parents need to live with you
    - rent to own instead of just outright buying
    - live with friends and pool money with friends
    etc etc
Yeah....all good signs of a great economy.
    Maybe
    - pay better wages
    - fix inflation
    - supply more housing
    etc etc etc.

This was not useful at all and outdated. You would need more than one other person to come together to buy a house in Toronto and most neighbouring cities. Even a one bedroom condo is upwards of $700k.
Also, even if you can somehow manage to make that happen, most people will have a big mortgage and renting out these days is a huge risk. If that tenant decides to stop paying and refuses to move, you are still responsible for paying your mortgage on time and then have to fight with no end in sight to evict that tenant.
Even if you get lucky and find a good tenant, you can only ask people to pay what is reasonable and might likely end up stretched financially to pay all your bills.
Also, it’s not just “the kids” who can no longer afford to buy a home and can barely afford rent. If you find yourself suddenly divorced and having to move, you will have a difficult time finding a home that is affordable on one income.

Things are scary as hell. Parents in their 50s are losing their jobs due to downsizing , or divorcing, their kids are therefore on unstable ground. Bank of Mom and Dad is shaky or closed.

Do Canadians even care about thier kids? Over leveraged is over leveraged. If your own kids can’t even buy a house on thier own you’ve got a problem. If you have to co-sign to afford something you probably shouldn’t

Oh just wait until they begin rolling out generational mortgages to “help” young people get into homes…where their grandchildren will still be paying off the debt.
