I really enjoyed this; it was like being on holiday with someone who pointed things out (and filmed them beautifully) rather than watching a wildlife documentary where the presenters are so excited that their experience is more to the fore than the wildlife you want to watch. I'm off to Mull in a couple of weeks, so it has made me look forward to it even more, if that is possible!
great film, great place, great creatures, and the drama of an unpromising start and willing you to see something special after such a long journey; its got the lot! Thank you Graham.
Graham, just this morning I was thinking of you and your trip. Then I got the alert. Watched in rapt amazement. The isle was absolutely breathtaking. The wild life was amazing, especially the Puffins. Will probably never get to go there, but thru your lens I felt as I was there with you.Thank you again for such a wonderful trip and taking us along. See you again soon. God Bless you,Davin
An absolutely wonderful video. There was so much good and and extremely interesting information in it that it almost impossible to list it all. A truly exceptional video, very well done indeed
What a week Graham! Very envious, awesome footage of the otters and the SEO. Brilliant. Oh - the Blue Hawk, wow. That was my best cuppa this week - and a real Birthday treat :) Si.
Lovely place. Went to my local blue reef aquarium. The man said you’ll never get as close as this to sea otters. Oh well I thought, few years previously I’d been at lochdon, the tide was out, but left a deep pool with fish in it. Along can 6 otters, who were after the fish, in they went, followed by my Westie! Wish I had taken my camera, when 1 came up with a fish in its mouth at the side of the dog. He and otters took off on either side of the pool. Another evening in the pub at craignure Pub. Some Americans said they hadn’t seen any deer. A few minutes later 4 walked past on the road. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed to watch, it reminded me of our trip to Scotland two years ago (Skye and outer Hebrids), weather & landscape :). You've had nice observations. Loved the puffins, otters and the owl.
Hi Graham, this video is simply AMAZING !!! The footage and commentary are just brilliant. We are visiting Mull to see some wildlife in a few days, and would like some very detailed directions for as to where to park and then where to exactly stand to view the: Eider and Hooded Crow spots on the way to the port you took the Staffa boat, the White-Tailed Sea Eagle nest, the successful Golden Eagle and male Hen Harrier site you went to, and then finally, the Short Eared Owl spot ??? Thanks very much !!!
Hi James, thanks for your comment. We landed in Graignure and basically there is one single track road that is the main road with regular passing places and roads that lead off from it here and there. Turning right out of the ferry terminal takes you to Tobermory and beyond, turning left takes you to Pennyghael where we stayed and about 12 miles further on brings you to the Iona ferry port where you can catch the ferry to Iona and you also catch the Staffa boat there but it's best to book. Hooded crows can be seen all over the Island, you can't miss them also the Eiders just keep looking at the edge of the lochs. I recommend booking the guy we had his name was Brian and knows where to find the Eagles and Harriers. The Pennyghael Hotel booked all our trips so I haven't got Brian's details but he has a Facebook page. About 2 miles before you get to Pennyghael there is a right turn and the Sea Eagle view point is sign posted, the RSPB has a nest view point where you have to book but Brian took us to another site on the same road. A couple of miles before Pennyghael on the left there is the old Kinloch Hotel which is no longer open, next to that is a shop, Brian owns the shop so i'm sure you could book him there but there are lots of other guides as well, hope this helps and have a great trip:-)
Now Graham wished I had come with you great shots of the Otters and the Sea Eagle, well worth the long trip north will have to arrange a meet up with Si again
Amazing video. We’ve visited Mull on a number of occasions & another one booked. There’s always more to learn though - could you let us know the details of the Wildlife guy Brian please ??
Thank you, can’t wait to get back there. We stayed at the Pennyghael Hotel and the owner booked Brian for us, I think he also owned one of the local shops where we picked up a packed lunch which was provided in the package. My advice is to contact the hotel and they should give you the info, they were really helpful, they also booked the Staffa boat trip too, hope this helps:-)
What beautiful footage you've got, loved the puffins and the otters. I've been trying to capture seals near where I live for weeks but haven't been successful just yet - also I didn't know SEOs return north in the summer, that explains why I've not come across any recently, lol. Fantastic video mate, looking forward to the next one!
Thanks, I think Common Seals come a shore to have their pups around about now and Grey Seals have their pups round November on the east coast of England then it varies as you go around the coast line, glad you enjoyed it:-)
Hi Ray, I use the LUMIX fz 82 which had a 60x optical zoom and I still have that camera but now I use the Nikon p1000 which has a massive 125x zoom. For stills I have a Nikon DSLR with a 300mm lens with a 1.4x converter which still isn’t really long enough for wildlife but I mainly concentrate on films.
@@rhiwderinraytube Depends how far away you see them, when we went on the guided tour we went to a place where Golden Eagle come fairly close but we weren't lucky and the one we saw as you see on the film was way up on a ridge and the White Tailed was maybe a quarter of mile away and I shot through a scope but on the boat trips they can come fairly close because they feed them fish so I suppose the longer focal length you can get the better, your 800mm equivalent with a 1.4x converter should be pretty good and if you have a camera with a biggish sensor you can always crop in. hope this helps.
Can you remember anything about where the owls, golden eagle, hen harrier or white tailed sea eagle nest spot you filmed were ? Cannot make the tour with Bryan unfortunately. Cheers mate
Golden eagles can be seen anywhere along the road to Pennyghael if your lucks in you'll see one. We saw the Hen harriers about 2 miles before you get to Pennyghael. The SEOs were right next to the road xbout 4 miles before Pennyghael and the sea eagles were up a right hand turn about a mile before Pennyghael signposted eagle viewpoint and scenic route to Salem
A really professional feel to this video, it looks great. Did you use the Bebop drone for those aerial clips ? I bought one recently, but not had the chance to take it far yet. Great vid.
Thanks, yes it was the Bebop but it didn't perform very well, I think I need to recalibrate it. Until recently I did professional camerawork and editing and I'm pretty pleased with the look of the films now i.e. colour grading etc. Thanks again:-)
I absolutely enjoyed watching everything single femto-second of this video! I would love to go here one day! Thank you for sharing this with everyone!
Thanks fir watching:-)

Thanks Mark, I was really pleased with this one:-)
Graham Barker I can see why.
Great watch, reminded me of our visit there in June. However never saw an Otter or Golden Eagle, lovely footage.
Thank you very much, can't wait to go back:-)

Been to both places, equally fantastic.

Hi Graeme. What was the longest lens you had? I have an 800mm (equiv) but wonder if i would need a 1.4 teleconverter for the eagles?
