A very enjoyable video, which makes me miss Scotland and encourages me to get out more in vile weather. Also, to visit Mull as well as Skye when I am next in the UK. And your otter images are great! @darkskiesimages
We where on the Isle of Mull in September unfortunately I never got to see an otter but I was lucky enough to capture the northern lights, we are planning to return next year, we've got a 28day plane for next year, geart blogging and great shots .
I was on the isle of Mull 3weeks ago and I definitely come back during winter when there is no tourist (except me :) ) to shoot wildlife. Cannot wait! I enjoyed your video remembering me weather and seascapes I saw :)
Really nice vid and shots of the otters. I used to have that same lense which I used to take up there some years back now. But would love to try and get back up for the otters
Hi Sophie - Great video and hopefully the start of more to come. We met by chance up there in Mull in May this year both while you were en route and later that day at, the location you were filming this video from. You were with Rich and a couple of clients I think and we chatted towards the end of your day. I had some great encounters at that Loch later in my stay and just love every inch of Mull. Since meeting you briefly I have made the move from 5D Mk IV with the 500 f4 to the R5 and the RF 100-500. Certainly no loss of quality and much much lighter when trying to manoeuvre around the foreshore and photograph otters without disturbing them. All the best for the future.
A beautifully put together film Sophie. Looking forward to seeing future adventures. Mull is a wonderful place that sticks with you for months after leaving.
Great video I would say get the 500 f4 I know it’s heavy but I’m a lady in her mid 70s and until a couple of years ago was my go to lens for wildlife , I still use the lens but only if I an sitting in a hide or in the car , I have a Sony 200-600 lens for my walk about set up ,
Great video Sophie. Really enjoyed it. You have some wonderful footage and amazing stills. I was on the trip with Richard the week before so this really meant something to me. Keep up the good work.
Hey!! Loved the first video, new friend! I recently, so two weeks ago upgraded from 300mm to a 600mm lens and the difference is incredible! Loved the beautiful footage of the otters, really sweet animals ✌🏼
Awesome stuff Sophie, congrats on popping the TH-cam cherry the video was great we look forward to the next one, good to see the Infamous car trouble made it to the video... 😂
Brilliant debut! (here due to Richard's instagram post) That is a brilliant experience with the first otter and great footage! 07:35, bit concerned about the person just walking along the shore whilst you were saying where the otter was (unless it was under water at that point, but i'd personally move quicker and lower haha) Seems a really good trip, you got amazing photos, amazing video but best of all, you got a fantastic experience! Excited to go there at end of August! I've subscribed as well!
A wonderful first video! I'm hoping that I can get at least one great encounter with the otters like you did when I visit Mull in a couple of weeks time! In regards to lenses, I use a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary with my Canon body; it's not too heavy and you still get great zoom and quality :) Looking forward to seeing more videos from you! All the best :)
A very good first video, I am wondering how you managed to park up to get the shots? We are on Mull and as you can’t park in the passing spots we are finding it extremely difficult to take images of anything.
Hi, Interesting video, I know they are not easy to do so well done. I have been going to that location for the last 10 years every year renting a cottage for the week, it's a fabulous location!! However it has become so well known that it is becoming a little spoilt and busy, sad to say so this year for the first time I am trying somewhere new on Mull but hopefully just as productive. The 500 is a great lens but a handful, glad to see you getting down in amongst the seaweed that's the best way to do it with a decent beanbag, ditch the tripod it will only contribute to you missing shots, but obviously needed for video. Be careful with your cash and take your time in deciding, I know of a lot of pro's that are now switching to Olympus 4/3 system and the 150-400 lens, so much smaller and lighter with outstanding quality. Best of luck!! Check out Mike Lanes videos, th-cam.com/video/dNj1mws2SGM/w-d-xo.html

Great video. Mull is a place on my bucket list. The 500mm is such a great lens, yes heavy but I always use mine on a tripod or beanbag at low level. 👍
