Wouldve been nice if you made a video showing how you cut the barrel and finished off the end, I was really curious about that. I like your idea with that pvc spacer, definietly adds some girth and beefyness to the end of the shotgun. What did you paint it with? Just regular spray paint or bbq paint or automotive paint?

I bought the barrel already cut on Ebay. I did run some fine grit sandpaper over the muzzle to smooth out the sharp edges. I painted the PVC pipe with some krylon or rustoleum, can't remember which. Nothing special, just remember it was spray paint that was compatible with plastic.

Awesome looking project gun ,Makes me want to extend the tube on my Browning Auto 5,, Let me know if you ever want to sell it. Great Video.

I'd use a Remington Model 11 or an 11-48. A Browning is probably worth much more.

Just my few idea,s................Why not get a custom mag tube made on a lathe as:u know the treath size that fits in the receiver and u have the corrrect treath size for the screw cap and u know the inside and outside mag dimensions for skilled man it can be that hard to make a magtube with the length u want.
Or much easyer buy a extende tube with spring kit of ebay for 140$ like i did so i have a auto 10 meaning 9 in the tube 1 in chamber,no welding no this or that, meaning i can convert my gun always back to as stock from factory.

Thanks for commenting, I actually considered both options you mention, but decided against them. I suspect getting a custom tube made would be fairly expensive, primary reason I didn't pursue that course of action. Maybe I am wrong. I also enjoy doing things myself as much as possible, though I did have to get my nephew to TIG weld this. I am also not a fan of magazine extensions, I have seen multiple failures when shells, springs, or follower stick or hangs up on transition between tube and extension. Also, due to long recoil system a mag extension to barrel clamp is not possible. The welded tube should be much stronger than a threaded on extension without a barrel clamp. I also purchased an additional mag tube so I can return to stock configuration.

Anywhere one could find an extended mag tube that wouldn't require splicing and welding?

If you could find an original Rhodesian mag tube, but they are as rare as the proverbial hens teeth.

Love the a5 but hate inertia SGs. They kick lick a mule.

I have had a handful of long recoil shotguns over the years. I still have 2. They recoil less than a break action or a pump.
If you have the friction rings set up right. I currently have 11-48s and they are self adjusting.

No sir, if you watch these videos from the beginning you will see I preserved original barrel, wood, and magazine tube. In other words, I didn't do anything to this shotgun that can't be undone, with exception of Black Ice coatings, which given the previous condition I would argue is an improvement. I bought the already shortened barrel on Ebay. No original parts were harmed.

Yeah, because everything in life has to be left EXACTLY how it was, or its ruined.
