Agree with you and most who commented on here - I love fashion and luxury goods but am really turned off and concerned to see so many social influencers buying new items constantly just for their content update. There are only so many days and occasions in a season to wear all the pieces of clothing or handbags. I'm not an influencer and have become more conscious of what I add to my wardrobe and even then I struggle to rotate through my handbags, shoes and clothes! Love your level headed, responsible and healthy attitude towards fashion and I'm sure you'll apply the same principle to all other consumables in life and save our planet in the process. 🙌😍

I really appreciate this video. I’m on my early 20s and sometimes it is still a bit hard to be down to earth about my shopping because I love designer brands and this is the first time that I am actually making money. But we never know what will happen tomorrow so it’s really important to be more conscious about spendings and I see a lot of young people getting into debts just to have the latest it bag or car that they can’t even afford and will probably get tired of it in a few years. This type of content really inspires me and I’m sure I’ll see a return in the future by having the same mindset as you do :)

I never buy "throw away" fashion. I always look for quality instead of quantity. A hundred years ago (feels like that) I bought an incredible cashmere sweater (pre owned mind you) that I still have and wear. It is impeccable despite of having been put in the DRYER!!!! (by my well meaning) son. I almost had a heart attack! But I was able to re shape it and it is still a treasure for me. Quality doesn't always mean we have to spend a ton of money. I have to agree that I feel alleviated or free whenever I get rid of something that I don’t need while not buying something else to replace it. Also it’s empowering to know that I can continue my lifestyle for awhile if I’m being laid off. Living in a small house definitely helps me to be mindful of what I buy & bring home. Congratulations!!! I started decluttering 3 weeks ago and found that I had more of emotional purchases than I thought. So I am trying to be more intentional with my buying from now on. I really enjoy your videos because you are so down to earth and sensible. You love luxury like the rest of us but approach it with admirable taste and common sense. I do subscribe to two TH-camrs who seem to buy a new luxury item every week or so but despite that their videos have a lot of good advice as well. All of the others I subscribe to tend to research, stalk and buy a new bag once a year or so and I find them really relatable. So don’t worry about not doing heaps of unboxings, it’s the quality of content that is important not the quantity. I really enjoy your content. Thank You for being so honest and aware of over spending and accumulating more things than we actually need. I too made a concerted effort this past year to be mindful of what I was spending my money on and to make sure, was it something I NEEDED or am I just wanting to buy another designer handbag or piece. I ended the year feeling totally different towards my shopping and buying needs. I truly do feel better about NOT buying so much. In fact, it has made me look at all my things and to purge what I am not actually using. For example, I do not need 30 designer handbags when I only use a few of them. I must be probably one if the very very few people who actually 'enjoyed' 2020 clothing-wise. I was blessed to be able to work from home since March, amazing experience in itself. But what it allowed me to do is to finally wear my heels! Because let's face it, heels are not made to be worn outside on uneven surfaces 🤣 I can honestly say I've never gotten so much use out of my heels as in 2020! And all of my lovely dresses! And I became far more creative with my outfits. When you're at home, you're in a safe space, hopefully, so experimenting with clothes, dressing up, wearing heels, having time to do that without hurrying or worrying about wearing an expensive dress outside and damaging it or spilling my lunch on it - all that was liberating for me. I have to admit I actually spent a lot in 2020, but definitely got a lot of use out of my wardrobe. But then, of course, I know how lucky I am to have a job, and to be able to work from home🌈
I had a no luxury buy year as well. After downsizing and selling a lot of my pieces I unsubscribed to YT channels that I felt had just too many unboxing videos with mindless purchases. Seeing videos of massive bag and shoe collections don’t excite me. However seeing a well curated, luxury quality collection does. Love how your channel has evolved. Happy New Year! 🥳

I decided to stop buying fast fashion but be intentional and invest in the pieces which will last. I did just buy my first Chanel bag on this shopping trip, and nothing else but I’m good because I have clothes I can wear
2020 was a good year to buy preloved because everyone was selling their stuff at low prices to get fast buyers! I acquired a dream bag this year and can finally relax on bag buying. I know now that buying substitutes to replace a dream item is kinda useless as I'll always want the dream item haha. Thanks for your videos in 2020 Eileen!!

I enjoy watching unboxing videos as well but I am planning a low buy year for 2021. I am making 2021 a no-buy year. My strategy is that every time I am tempted by something, rather than buy it, I find something similar that I already own in my wardrobe. I then take the amount of money I WOULD HAVE spent for the new item, and put it into my savings. So I rediscover the item already in my wardrobe, and have ‘money out’ which actually ends up being money saved.

When it comes down to it, creditors don’t care how many new or “pre-loved” luxury items you have in your closet, when you have $0 in the bank. I feel the same way. This year I did get three big ticket jewelry items and a few smaller items like a Coach bag on sale, but that was about it. I'm not into luxury hauls and spending mindlessly. Most you tube luxury videos are by rich women who either seem to have their family money or their husband’s money, and buy excessively and thoughtlessly, in my opinion. I only purchased because I had been looking for awhile for a medium-sized luxury tote (that's not a Neverfull) and this came out and I purchased right away. Thanks for sharing Eileen. I had my videos too but mostly are handbags and SLGs reviews that i already had for years and that are not luxury to many but to me all these are very precious. Although this year, i did add a few pieces of LVs in my life and in fact my luxury journey began this year. Having say that, i am surely mindful of my collections for sure although i am still tempted at times. As for clothings, i had only bought one or two pieces here and there, i mean those from Uniqlo and H & M type and those that i can wear when working from home. Definitely no no for fast fashion. I really enjoy your videos because you are so down to earth and sensible. You love luxury like the rest of us but approach it with admirable taste and common sense.
I do subscribe to two TH-camrs who seem to buy a new luxury item every week or so but despite that their videos have a lot of good advice as well. All of the others I subscribe to tend to research, stalk and buy a new bag once a year or so and I find them really relatable. So don’t worry about not doing heaps of unboxings, it’s the quality of content that is important not the quantity.

I really enjoy your content. Thank You for being so honest and aware of over spending and accumulating more things than we actually need. I too made a concerted effort this past year to be mindful of what I was spending my money on and to make sure, was it something I NEEDED or am I just wanting to buy another designer handbag or piece. I ended the year feeling totally different towards my shopping and buying needs. I truly do feel better about NOT buying so much. In fact, it has made me look at all my things and to purge what I am not actually using. For example, I do not need 30 designer handbags when I only use a few of them. I must be probably one if the very very few people who actually 'enjoyed' 2020 clothing-wise. I was blessed to be able to work from home since March, amazing experience in itself. But what it allowed me to do is to finally wear my heels! Because let's face it, heels are not made to be worn outside on uneven surfaces 🤣 I can honestly say I've never gotten so much use out of my heels as in 2020! And all of my lovely dresses! And I became far more creative with my outfits. When you're at home, you're in a safe space, hopefully, so experimenting with clothes, dressing up, wearing heels, having time to do that without hurrying or worrying about wearing an expensive dress outside and damaging it or spilling my lunch on it - all that was liberating for me. I have to admit I actually spent a lot in 2020, but definitely got a lot of use out of my wardrobe. But then, of course, I know how lucky I am to have a job, and to be able to work from home🌈
I had a no luxury buy year as well. After downsizing and selling a lot of my pieces I unsubscribed to YT channels that I felt had just too many unboxing videos with mindless purchases. Seeing videos of massive bag and shoe collections don’t excite me. However seeing a well curated, luxury quality collection does. Love how your channel has evolved. Happy New Year! 🥳

I decided to stop buying fast fashion but be intentional and invest in the pieces which will last. I did just buy my first Chanel bag on this shopping trip, and nothing else but I’m good because I have clothes I can wear

2020 was a good year to buy preloved because everyone was selling their stuff at low prices to get fast buyers! I acquired a dream bag this year and can finally relax on bag buying. I know now that buying substitutes to replace a dream item is kinda useless as I'll always want the dream item haha. Thanks for your videos in 2020 Eileen!!

I am making 2021 a no-buy year. My strategy is that every time I am tempted by something, rather than buy it, I find something similar that I already own in my wardrobe. I then take the amount of money I WOULD HAVE spent for the new item, and put it into my savings. So I rediscover the item already in my wardrobe, and have ‘money out’ which actually ends up being money saved.

I feel the same way. This year I did get three big ticket jewelry items and a few smaller items like a Coach bag on sale, but that was about it. I'm not into luxury hauls and spending mindlessly. It's shocking to me sometimes when some TH-camrs are spending $15k on a single luxury haul every month. Thanks for keeping it real and encouraging people to be wise with spending.

Most you tube luxury videos are by rich women who either seem to have their family money or their husband’s money, and buy excessively and thoughtlessly, in my opinion. Sometimes I think it’s the thrill of the chase with many influencers; they barely have time to use and love what they currently own before buying a new item. I agree with you 100% Eileen. I only made one big luxury purchase this year, the new Gucci Medium Ophidia tote. I only purchased because I had been looking for awhile for a medium-sized luxury tote (that's not a Neverfull) and this came out and I purchased right away. I really enjoy your common sense approach to luxury. I'm pretty much the same way. c arex also other things luxury aside from jewelry and handbags, like a private club membership, a personal trainer, art and antiques. That’s a funny comment (that you’re anti-luxury) considering you have an Hermès heavy collection. You keep the things that you love and use. You give great well rounded and thoughtful advice on luxury shopping. I’m trying to become more mindful but you are right, that since I have my dream items that I love most shopping is definitely less tempting.I’ve started letting things sit in my cart on a website for a while before pulling the trigger, and often decide I don’t really want it, I just think it’s pretty. Thanks for sharing Eileen. I had my videos too but mostly are handbags and SLGs reviews that i already had for years and that are not luxury to many but to me all these are very precious. Although this year, i did add a few pieces of LVs in my life and in fact my luxury journey began this year. Having say that, i am surely mindful of my collections for sure although i am still tempted at times. As for clothings, i had only bought one or two pieces here and there, i mean those from Uniqlo and H & M type and those that i can wear when working from home. Definitely no no for fast fashion.
