As a death guard player, the combat patrol is pretty bad. 39 figures sounds like a lot until 30 of them are only 150 points and most armies only employ 20 of them with typhus. You can also find poxwalkers for like $20 on second hand sites instead of having to get them in the combat patrol or paying full price. The hardest part of not getting the combat patrol is that typhus is really hard to find outside of it and usually runs you about $40 and it’s hard to justify shelling out that kind of cash for one mini.

How to collect every army :
    1) grab a weapon, preferably an intimidating one.
    2) grab a van
    3) time to go to your local GW store for some shopping.

From a Sisters player that doesn't bring Penitent stuff, you're gonna want transports and vehicles early on. Sisters is a short ranged army, and things like Retributers need to get to their targets. They've been like this forever, and while it might be better or worse in each edition, it seems to be a constant.
Also, when building Sister's troops, you're really building a pool of models to form Battle Sister, Dominion and Retributer squads from. Battle Sisters and Dominions are from the same kit, and the Retributers box contains the Multi-Meltas that are missing from Battle Sisters box. They're a lot like old marines in this respect, where you would take several Tactical squad boxes, a couple Devastator squad boxes and mix and match are required.
With the Penitent stuff, it's thematic to have Arco's running across the board on foot (but they work in transports as well), Repentia really need transports (T3 naked sisters on foot, not a good combo, you'll probably want the Rhino as a firebreak if nothing else.) Penitent Engines and Mortifiers are fine for running across the field, it's what they're built for.

As a Death guard player, I’ve gotten most of my sets off of eBay and gotten together about 1000-1500 in just around 200 not including paints and stuff. Definitely not the easiest to pull off but you can get some gems off of eBay for sure

Can you explain why it's not cool to use recast?

Recast are actually just illegal, and they people who tend to sell them are on sites that are not particularly safety inspiring. Given their general location being Russia and it's neighboring countries, you can also expect extraneous wait times, when most models have 3d printed equivalents you can print or buy in much faster time.

@spoonsrattling thanks, I appreciate the insight! Keep up the great work! Your videos have been invaluable to me while I learn my army (csm)

Recommended to not get a 3D printer, and recommended not to buy recasts. Bad advice

I will say sla printing isn’t for everyone. However there’s usually at least 1 person who is adept with them in most hobby groups/stores I’ve seen, so if you can make friends then you can at least have them print stuff for you.

I’d only recommend buying recasts of the expensive as shit forgeworld models that arent AT ALL worth their price for the resin. Buy from more legit sources for most things since it keeps the hobby going.

I've only used recasts for out of print models. They're worse quality than official models and don't help game stores.

I don't understand why people have this expectation that everyone should buy a printer. Why? When space is at a premium why should I have this thing that takes up an entire shelf of space, that uses a material that creates toxic fumes and is unsafe to handle. If you've got a garage sure put it there but alot of hobbyists do not have that sort of space. And yes recast are just genuinely illegal, and buying from people who already circumvent that? Don't be surprised when your card details get skimmed.

I ain’t going through the whole “buy, setup, learn 3d print” to save 100 bucks in miniatures. Recasts suck monkey fuck.
      Bad comment.
