I'm glad I'm so early for this review even if it's 2am here in Italy. I feel "Velvet" is San Junipero as a record: it is whatever JMSN feels the 80s to be. The combo "So Badly" + "Mind Playin' Tricks" is stellar. I loved it, but I'm biased as I was also a great "Whatever Makes U Happy" fan.
Doubt anyone will heed this, but I would suggest against the "Review's great, but..." comments. Anthony's expressed that he doesn't like them & they're stale on twitter. He's not really been doing the best I think, judging by his posts, so let's try to make his life a little bit easier by not being dicks and feeding into a machine he doesn't like. :)

As great as the production is on this album I personally just can’t get with JMSN’s vocals and melodies. Levy and So Badly are probably the only songs I go back to.
