      I want this camera for sure!! This will be my next move. I'll get this one or at least the C300. It will be a nice step up in imagine quality and usability for corporate projects compared to my Sony A6300.

      Seems like an awesome camera. I'm looking to learn how to shoot with the Canon Cinema cameras to expand my client work. I'll probably end up picking up the BMPCC6K but it will be good for me to learn as many camera systems as possible.

    Your Franken-rig comment made me laugh...I've seen a few TH-cam videos that turned the C200 into something no longer handhold-able by any stretch. If I were to get the C200ii, I would probably almost never use the raw feature so I would count on the 8 bit codec to look great straight out of the camera. Thumbs up!!

    Don't own one, but have rented one. It's a very capable camera and my client liked the product they got. I don't think I'll buy a cinema camera, renting is more
    advantageous for me because I only do a couple of projects a year. My hobby projects don't justify owning one. Good show from experienced shooter. I like it.

    Well... since the new C300 mark iii has Raw Lite and 422... I guess we know Canon will never allow 4K 422 via SDI on the C200.

    Thanks for such an in-depth review. I’m really considering this camera for my contracted work and on-the-side filmmaking. One question-what SD cards are best to use? Is a V30 UHS I enough to record in 4K or do you use UHS II cards? Just trying to figure out how much extra I need to budget on top of the camera cost 😬 Thanks for your awesome content, brother! 😁

    • @TylerEdwards

  • @TruthReviews

    Great review, subbed.
    Do you think this will work well as a B Cam to a C70? Also, im a tad confused, can you record 4K to internal SD? Or only C Fast?

  • @68Snaps
    @68Snaps 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great content, very useful. Right now I'm considering to purchase it. But I think it's getting a tough competitor down the line: the Canon R5. I'm *not* interested in 8K, so let's get that out of the way. Would you consider "exchanging" your C200 for an R5? (by magic pixie dust). Do you think the R5 could be a good alternative, or do you think it's just a very elaborate toy? Could *you* use one to replace your C200 in your line of work? (And again, thanks for your great content :-) )

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would never consider trading a cinema camera for a mirrorless camera altogether. I think they both have their uses, but I’d much prefer a cinema camera for most stuff.

    • @EduardRekker
      @EduardRekker 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buying an R5 would be a budget-argument I guess. I would never trade a cinemacamera for a systemcamera.

    Thank you sir for making this! I would love to get the C200 if my professional work takes me in this direction one day. Glad it fits your workflow so well. I think the most exciting thing of 2019 was the Panasonic S1H.

  • @Knochenfuarz
    @Knochenfuarz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Tyler,
    I found your channel hours ago and enjoyed a few videos bought your lut-Pack (did not find the discountsection on the checkout ... anyway 15$ is a steal). What IRE values you are expose for in Clog 3 while run and gun (max/skin/blacks)?
    Love your content! (I own two C200s :D)

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks so much! Ya that code is only for the Buttery LUTs stuff. I typically use false color on my SmallHD monitor for exposure with the goal of exposing skin tones at around 35-40 IRE (but that totally depends on the type of skin as well). For highlights, I do my best to keep it at or below 95, but if I cannot control the light, I usually sacrifice highlights for proper skin tones exposure (if the shot calls for it). Shadows/blacks: try to just keep just above crushing. I found monitoring with the Clog3 Crush LUT is very helpful. Hope this helps!

    Does anybody know if there is a way to program a button to quickly switch between two different presets like RAW 24p and the 8-Bit Codec 120p? Or do you have to change all the settings individually each time? currently looking into buying one of these and not sure about this ;)

    I have a bmpcc4k fully rigged out was looking to upgrade to either the bmpcc6k pro or the c200 what do you think?

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  ปีที่แล้ว

      That all entirely depends on the type of work you’re doing so I can’t answer that unfortunately

  • @nickfranik3141
    @nickfranik3141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How is the dynamic range compared to the Bmpcc 6k or 4k. So far I have heard it has a little advantage in that regard, especially in the highlights. What is your NLE by the way?

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When shooting raw, I’d say it’s splitting hairs between C200 and 6K maybe a slight edge to the C200. I would agree with you that’s there no real advantage over the 6K in that regard. The real advantages are mostly ergonomic (NDs, dual XLR, built in evf) and obviously better battery life 😂 Both are fantastic camera systems that can compliment each other very nice on set 👍🏼👍🏼

      @@TylerEdwards Thank you . Last question : what CF cards are you using for the c200? Any particular recommendation?

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a few CFast cards. I’ve been very happy with the Silicon Power X310 (I think that’s the model) 512GB card ($299), lexar, and egodisk. I forgot to answer your other question; I’ve been mostly editing in Resolve, but this video I edited in FCPX so I could use the motionvfx callout plugin.

  • @CalebSapp
    @CalebSapp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video, Tyler. This is my next camera so I’ve been cramming the research on it. You seem to shoot similar run and gun/docu style video as I do. Do you primarily shoot handheld? If so, how stable is the footage?

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the C200, it is either handheld on locked on a tripod. I think the footage looks pretty stable (but certainly handheld feeling), but I think that is subjective. It’s a heavy enough camera where those micro jitters aren’t present. Hope this helps!

    Would you suggest the Ursa mini g2 over the c200 or not?

    • @SjoerdWess
      @SjoerdWess 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tyler Edwards i feel like the ursa is so bulky compared to the c200... also, the batteries needed on the ursa are way bigger, needing more big assets to load etc. But, the ursa is braw, more options... c200 has mp4 8bit. And hugeeeee raw files. Aaahhhggg

    Do you have sample videos filming with a fairly vast zoom spectrum? I'm considering purchasing the C200 and working mostly with a lens ranging anywhere from 18mm to 400mm zoom focal length. I watched many reviews on Tamron's 18mm-400mm lens on a variety of different videos, but none of the reviewers were using any kind of cinema camera, let alone the C200. I'm also considering one of Canon's 28mm to 150mm zoom focal length. Any other recommendations on a quality zoom lens would be appreciated.
