I wouldn't say it's the voice direction, the deliveries are a little off, however I think the writing stands out a bit for this final fight. Especially with Shadow representing the past, Sonic representing the present, and Silver representing the future.

3:42 God, it makes me so sad. The dialogue here perfectly fits with the characters and their themes in the story. It actually gave me chills. It sucks that the game is so bad. This could have been awesome!
What do you guys mean 06 is good and op and on top of that just because of so stupid bugs doesn't make a game bad it's really good in my opinion and I'm only saying this because this was my first sonic game and I don't think I ever had a problem
Sonic 06 is not bad, especially by today’s standards. It’s not nearly as buggy as I expected, the story is ten times better than I expected, Silver is surprisingly an okay character to play, and the level design is top tier. There’s some parts of the game that are clearly unfinished, but most of the game works well enough. Hell, even the infamous loading screens aren’t as intrusive as people in 2006 made it seem. They last maybe four seconds, and only happen in quick succession in Soleanna’s side missions that you should only do if you want to 100% the game, which there’s no incentive to do so.
I don’t know… this boss just hits hard as one of my favourite final bosses in any game. Hearing all the Sonic characters and the full cast work together and support one another to save the world just hits hard. Everybody felt involved and didn’t just sit on the sidelines as cheerleaders. Plus… come on… His World Orchestral just hits so hard
I agree I got into sonic music quite recently and while I do love the other songs in the series and music from other games like metal gear rising and devil may cry and even fnaf fan songs (if they count) all of them combined don't come close to the greatness of his world
It's nice to see everyone that the three hedgehogs hold dear (and Eggman) supporting the heroes in any way they can, helping them win the battle for all of reality. It really takes you back to how they all came together over the years, leading to this one final battle for absolutely everything. This final boss was great.
@@burtyjr Yeah.. But at least Amy is still there to support Silver, despite their rocky friendship. It's sweet to know she still really cares about him, regardless of his mistakes.
I really hope there will be another Sonic game where all the heroes team up to destroy the big bad. Not just stand on the side as cheerleaders, but one where the whole cast feels like a massive team to save the world. Solaris isn’t just my favourite Sonic final boss, but one of my favourite finales to any game
@DBSea Honestly, the hate for Elise is severely overblown. There's nothing wrong with _her_ on her own (she's actually got a really nice arc, and the lessons she learns from Sonic are appropriate for the series), but rather, the story they wanted to tell with her was compromised by this being a Sonic game. Elise was _meant_ to be a constant companion for Sonic in the story, but because she's a normal human, she can't keep up with Sonic on her own (nor would it make sense for her to put herself in danger, since she's the current ruler of her country). Thus, they needed Eggman to drag her around to further the plot.
Honestly, that alone takes me back to when I thought this game was called Sonic: The Final Episode. (To be fair, my first encounter of this game was its ending.)
3:46 Sonic Vs Solaris (Present) “The present day, the here and now that you’ve stolen, time to take it back!” 3:41 Shadow Vs Solaris (Past) “I’ll release you from the chains of your past!” 3:44 Silver Vs Solaris (Future) “I will protect the future! Say what you will about 06 but I will always have it as a guilty pleasure because of how this is the 3 hedgehogs united against a being existing across all time, and then fighting it in super form always feels so cool and powerful and just the fact that Sonic fights it in the present, Shadow fights him in the past and Silver fights him in the future, also their lines and the epic soundtrack, I will say this much 06 had some good elements
@@GPS_DS Yeah, I always thought it should've been something more intense like "This time, I *_WILL_* protect the future!" It fits, since he's the one who's had to fight Solaris (or part of him) for the longest, and now he finally has the means to put an end to it for good.
@@GPS_DS I think it's a double edged sword honestly. On one hand, I do kinda wish Silver got a more detailed line, but on the other I think it's quite in character and raw as hell that Silver--the guy whose fought a part of Solaris for the longest--doesn't really add flare to his line. To Silver, it's kinda just business as usual, but this time he has the power to definitively kick Solaris ass. It's like Future Trunks from DBZ. There's no showboating or gloating or any flare needed--just pure ass kicking.
Wait, so Solaris was supposed to have a larger move set? According to these lines, once you damage Solaris enough, he'll summon a giant dimensional tear, with larger enemies or debris slowly creeping their way out of it. Similar to Iblis' giant meteor attack in it's final boss fight with Silver and Blaze (which is a good use of returning mechanics). Although this time, what ever giant projectile is summoned seems to vary between a few things, and each hedgehog has to use their stronger, charged attacks to break through/deflect it and close the rift. Solaris can also open a different tear that will try to suck you into another dimension (basically instant death), and you have to evade up or down. Then you can strike Solaris while he's open during the attack. Interestingly, these moves correspond to the different versions of the Eyes of Solaris. The purple variant sucks you into oblivion, and the red variant spits objects out at you from other locations. So the implication is that the eyes throwing those spiked orbs at you are supposed to merge, and the combined rift is used to attack you (so a giant red eye = spawning large hazards, while a giant purple eye = sucking you into another dimension). Sonic's mechanics also seem to have been a tad more complex too. Rather than simply flying around to charge up for an attack, it appears there were supposed to be orbs/particles of "blue light" (much like the chaos drives/light cores that are dropped from enemies in the main game) scattered about your flight path. Given the structure of the fight, they're likely spawned in abundance, and constantly regenerating, in case you get hit and lose power. You would use that light to fill up your guage until Sonic was ready to attack at top speed as an "arrow of light." Which I have to say, makes the build up to an attack WAY more interesting than just moving in one straight direction till your guage is full. It's also a nice callback to the Ancient Light ability in the Adventure games. Also, as a side note, I love how each of the the hedgehog's powers correspond to a certain weapon. Sonic can transform himself into an "arrow", Silver can summon a "shield", and Shadow can throw a "spear" (though we're all familiar with chaos spear by now, lol). Which are all callbacks to their move sets in the story. Silver for example, summons a shield whenever he grabs enemies or projectiles, as well as when he protected Sonic in Kingdom Valley. And MAN, just listening to all these clips in order, knowing the story of this game and development all these characters went through to get here.. The music. The atmosphere. Even those *awesome* renders of the super hedgehog trio. You don't even have to be PLAYING this boss fight to get hyped up!
Dude, YES. Going through the files and listening to all of these lines is just simply AWESOME, and so interesting to see. I really wish there was a way to physically see what the prototype and early concepts of this fight truly looked like. Even still, this truly is an amazing ending, no matter what many think of the game. The steaks, symbolism, and pretty much everything you've said makes this boss fight one of the best finales. Also, I'm sure you are aware, but all the renders (besides Eggman) are created by the amazing ChaosX, popular from his work in creating Sonic P-06! They seemed to fit TOO well, so I just had to use them.
I find it interesting all of the trio's remarks to Solaris in the second phase reflect their characters to some degree. Sonic: has always been in a "live in the moment" kind of guy, hence he talks about the present Shadow: much of his arc was dedicated to uncovering and overcoming his past Silver: has always fought for a better future, hence his line
For years I assumed the "No...!" at 2:52 had belonged to Solaris somehow because no character says anything in the game, but I had no idea it was actually Tails. Thank you!
Pretty much, lol. The End was low-key a joke. It constantly rambled about how Sonic had no chance of defeating it, only to lose anyway. And what makes it hilarious is that Sonic didn't even do anything for most of the fight (SAGE was actually the one who did all the work, and she did so with a Titan that was weaker than Super Sonic). "No matter how much you strike this incarnation, it changes nothing." **proceeds to get obliterated like any other final boss**
@@DLxxx uh, in case you forgot, The End had yet to recover its full strength. And remember that eventually, you couldn’t deal any more damage to it. If Sage wasn’t with you, you WOULD have failed. Oh, and remember it has the firepower of the Eclipse Cannon and then some!
@@tailsfan11westandwithukraine Doesnt really prove anything, it hasnt SHOWED us anything as impressive as Solaris, hell even time eater/egg salamander is shown to be way stronger. the end only mentions consuming worlds and stars, making it star level, where was Solaris/TE/ES/EL are all stated to destroy universes, (Solaris being multiversal due to destroying ALL time and space). Plus not being able to damage THE ND is only a gameplay thing so that you dont beat the boss before it finishes its dialog. Also we never see Sonic try and fight it himself, Sage does most of the work and Super Sonic one shots it in the end. Plus, Solaris needed 3 super hogs to beat it, even then they needed to blow out its weaker form to truly kill it. The End is a neat concept i just hope they flesh it out more in the Frontiers DLC.
@@Tycitron nah the only reason it took 3 hedgehogs was because Solaris was omnipresent infact it even states in the manual that sonic is equal if not stronger also this was sonic with not even at full power
@@kyc3641 06 made it explicitly clear that damaging Solaris itself was impossible ("Standard attacks won't work on him. He eats dimensions for lunch!"), so they aimed to destroy his "light shells"/armor, so he'd have no means of anchoring himself in there plane of existence anymore. This, however, FAILS, and Solaris immediately revitalizes itself stronger than before, and starts using its wings of light to produce a shield so powerful none of them can do any damage. The hedgehogs then have to aim for Solaris' core, and shut down his consciousness (since directly damaging its body is out of the question, and it has shown the ability to regenerate). In summary? Super Sonic was never able to actually damage Solaris, so much as he exploited his weaknesses to put him in a state of vulnerability. There's no reason to think The End would be able to get past Solaris' wings of light. There's not even any reason to think Solaris can't just wipe it from existence, considering how much higher he scales.
Lol, yeah. Because the dialogue of the characters is actually crucial to beating Solaris. If Eggman and Elise didn't deduce his weak spots, the hedgehog trio may have never been able to win. Similarly, them guiding you on the mechanics of your super form (and warning you on how to get around devastating attacks) is legitimately useful for the player.
So, based on these lines, it sounds like Solaris was going to have a larger move set, and the Super Forms were going to each have gimmicks and different solutions on how to counter each of Solaris' attacks. Let's see what we can speculate to be the intended version of the final battle would be. Starting with Solaris himself. Starting with what we know he has. He had his phase one gimmick with the light shells, and his phase two gimmick of attacking him when he attacks in order to damage him. He then has the endless wave of projectiles that would be thrown at you that you have to constantly avoid as Sonic and Shadow, and grab as Silver to throw back at him, lest you suffer damage. He also has his laser attack that is tricky to evade. And lastly for the moves he had in the base game, he could sometimes throw out a homing shot that Silver could grab, or Sonic and Shadow could evade. So now let's get to the unused stuff for the rampant god. "That's a dimensional hole. Can he summon things from other dimensions into this warped space?" It sounds like this would be a stronger and probably much larger eye of Solaris that would most likely throw a massive projectile towards the player, similar to Iblis making and throwing the giant fireball in Silver's final battle against him. (Nice way to show how Iblis is one part of Solaris.) Up next. "No! Now he's trying to suck you into another dimension! If you don't want to take an unplanned trip, evade! Evade!" This would be the other eye of Solaris. And just like in End of the World, they would still instantly kill you. So this is an attack that has to be avoided. "If you evade up or down, you can attack him directly, if he spreads both arms, he'll attack from the right and the left." And this is most likely what happens to you if you evade this dimensional hole. If you boost out of it horizontally, Solaris will follow up with a pincer attack from both sides that you have to avoid before attacking back, but it you evade the hole vertically, Solaris will be open to a counterattack early. Now for what could be a Phase One only gimmick. "Solaris' light shells match up with up, down, left, and right with the left stick. Use it to do damage." This can be a few things, but the one I actually believe it to be is this. Solaris has three parts on his body that in the OG game, only specific Hedgehogs could destroy, but this line makes me think that there were supposed to be four parts, and that each part had its own HP pool. So You would target Solaris' left arm, right arm, head and chest, and based on the directing you're moving as the Super Hedgehogs, the attack would target that specific light shell. Once that light shell is gone, you can't do any more damage while moving in that directions, so you can't fly circles around him and kill him that way. It's a neat little gimmick to have before Phase 2. Now let's get to the Hedgehogs. Let's start with what they had in the Base game that they shared. They could all fly in any direction, boost in that direction with extra input, they each had a meter that needed to be used with the Right Trigger in order to use attacks that would damage Solaris, and you could switch the Hedgehogs out with the top face button. Now for a shared gimmick that they don't have in the game. It sounds like that their charged attacks weren't supposed to be the only method of doing damage. It sounds like Shadow's basic Chaos Spear would have been able to do damage as well, but not nearly as good as his fully charged one. It also sounds like Sonic's charge would have been able to do the same (without you suffering damage from ring loss and using I frames to cheese it.) "The more the super gauge builds, the more damage the X button does. But if you get hit, you'll lose energy from the gauge." This is self explanatory. The more the meter is charged, the more damage can be done, but if you get hit the meter depletes, meaning you have to start the process over again. Now with just Sonic. He has his charge attack, or "Arrow of light." "Sonic. Draw the Blue light into your body. The light will turn your body into an arrow of light." The gimmick of this seems to be that he would need to either manually charge his meter, or he could fly around and collect chaos drives from the battlefield to build it up faster. Then when his meter is full, he'll boost forward and attack Solaris with huge damage. "No problem Sonic. Just blow them away before they come out." This line is Sonic's counter to the dimensional hole attack. It sounds like Sonic's answer is to literally just attack Solaris while he is building up the hole, effectively stopping the attack from happening. Then there's Shadow and his "Spear of Light" "Shadow. Strike him with your Spear of Light. If you charge the red light, you can launch an even stronger attack." Similar to Sonic, Shadow would most likely charge his meter manually or gather up the red light cores to speed up the charge before unleashing his full power attack for big damage. "If you use your Spear of Light, you should be able to destroy the material and close the dimensional hole." Shadow's counter to the Dimensional hole seems to be just attacking and destroying the hole itself. And the hole would probably blow up in Solaris' face, damaging it. And finally we have Silver with his "Shield of Light." "Silver, your power can become a shield of light. If you trap your opponent in the green light, you can attack them directly." This sounds interesting. It sounds like that if Silver uses his power normally, he can just throw the mini projectiles back, but if a bunch of green light cores appeared around Solaris, then Silver would have been able to actually grab and crush parts of Solaris himself, which sounds so badass if that was the case. "Your shield of Light should be able to stop whatever comes out of that hole, then you can throw it back at him." Silver's counter to the dimensional hole is basically the exact same way he counter's Iblis' giant fireball, which makes sence. If what I said from this was what was intended, then this fight would have been on a level even grander than Perfect Chaos, Final Hazard, and Metal Overlord combined.
So well put! You broke this down much better than my comment, lol. I hope ChaosX is able to see for inspiration. I think it'd be cool if those green light particles appeared whenever Silver threw projectiles back at Solaris. The impact would leave some green particles lingering there, and it would accumulate the more hits you land. Eventually part of Solaris would start glowing red, with a prompt, signaling you can crush part of him directly. That sounds so cool!

It's nice to see everyone that the three hedgehogs hold dear (and Eggman) supporting the heroes in any way they can, helping them win the battle for all of reality. It really takes you back to how they all came together over the years, leading to this one final battle for absolutely everything.
This final boss was great.
Except Blaze :(
@@burtyjr Yeah..
3:46 Sonic Vs Solaris (Present) “The present day, the here and now that you’ve stolen, time to take it back!”
3:41 Shadow Vs Solaris (Past) “I’ll release you from the chains of your past!”
3:44 Silver Vs Solaris (Future) “I will protect the future!
@@GPS_DS Yeah, I always thought it should've been something more intense like "This time, I *_WILL_* protect the future!"
It fits, since he's the one who's had to fight Solaris (or part of him) for the longest, and now he finally has the means to put an end to it for good.

Sonic 06 demonstrates It could have been an incredibile game
the trio quotes againist Solaris are also something else
@@Mepphy99 fr
I find it interesting all of the trio's remarks to Solaris in the second phase reflect their characters to some degree.
Sonic: has always been in a "live in the moment" kind of guy, hence he talks about the present
Shadow: much of his arc was dedicated to uncovering and overcoming his past
Silver: has always fought for a better future, hence his line
For years I assumed the "No...!" at 2:52 had belonged to Solaris somehow because no character says anything in the game, but I had no idea it was actually Tails. Thank you!
I don't think they used the voiceline at all in the final game
Solaris be like: excuse me i'm gonna steal you're voice to speak real quick.
The End from Sonic Frontiers talks big shit, but we all know who the strongest Final Boss is lol.
0:32 Solaris: “NO DO NOT PRESS THE Y BUTTON!!!!!!!”
This is MILES better then the Sonic Generations cheering (get it)
@@DLxxx Good point!
That looks like a homing shot.

(Nice way to show how Iblis is one part of Solaris.)
Up next.
It also sounds like Sonic's charge would have been able to do the same (without you suffering damage from ring loss and using I frames to cheese it.)
"The more the super gauge builds, the more damage the X button does. But if you get hit, you'll lose energy from the gauge." This is self explanatory. The more the meter is charged, the more damage can be done, but if you get hit the meter depletes, meaning you have to start the process over again.
Now with just Sonic. He has his charge attack, or "Arrow of light."
"Sonic.
Then there's Shadow and his "Spear of Light"
"Shadow.
And finally we have Silver with his "Shield of Light."
"Silver, your power can become a shield of light.
Hopefully Chaosx will add the lost dialogue in Project 06 for this battle.
That's a whole bet, he'll do it...I mean he's gotta. 😅🙄
