According to the writers originally Penny is suppose to ended up with Sheldon. The first three seasons is setting up for a plot twist that it turns out Penny got a crush on Sheldon and that is why she accepted Leonard's lunch invite. A lot of people probably know that girls don't make the first move. But very often, when a girl got a crush on a guy she be finding excuse to hangout with him. So, considering Leonard got a crush on her, it seems like a perfect excuse. The main reason that this storyline is cancel by season four is due to Kaley Cucoa didn't want to do it. She is a strong believer in compatibility, dating for marriage and till death do us part and felt that Sheldon and Penny will never work. (The type of people that get married for love is usually the date for fun type.)

It makes sense, at first I thought that Penny liked Sheldon, and that Sheldon would reciprocate, in the first episode it seemed that Sheldon was also interested as well as Leonard, and in the following seasons it seemed that there was some chemistry between them, but little by little did they make it look like a best friend connection? Soul mates, maybe?
For a non-hugger, Sheldon has hugged Penny so many times and Penny has managed to kiss him. So beautiful 😍

I think Penny was probably one of the first people Sheldon managed to love while understanding why he loved her. They both truly had one of the most touching friendships in any series and proved that guys and girls can be best friends. it's unlikely they had feelings for eachother and that's my favourite part about their friendship.
They had feelings for each other just not romantic.

Cause untill Amy Sheldon didn't have any needs like we all do. 🤷♂️ ofcourse boy's and girl's can be friends in some situations , but the reason why alot of people chose not to is because of sexual attraction or even when there isn't sexual attraction.. overtime you can create a emotional attraction what can lead to more..

The great thing about the Big Bang Theory is that on every other hit sitcom when a straight guy and girl are that close they usually end up doing it with each other. This show allowed Penny and Sheldon to love each other without actually having to go there. Nice job showing that.

Very true. Although, knowing Sheldon’s character, I would have been VERY surprised if they actually did.
I do remember Raj and Penny doing it once, when they were very close (end of season 4). So this thing of straight friends doing it in every show, does count for this show as well.

@VANSHIKA SHARMA Joey and Pheobie never hooked up but Joey and Ursula "Phoebe twin sister" did. Even though it wasn't technically the same thing they shared a passionate kiss on the show that was almost like Joey and Pheobie making out.

I have also came upon friendships that were like penny and Sheldon's in my youth and I can relate to them, it's very very special,the closest bond with someone without being Inlove or anything and like siblings and the thing is that it could very well be a true love match too,the possibility.
This is the first woman Sheldon ever let hug or even kiss him apart from his mother, sister and Meemaw, and for a character like his that is a huge deal. That alone shows how special their relationship really is.
Penny has stood by Sheldon like a bestie, took care of him like a mother, and fought for him like a sister. No wonder he's most comfortable around her !

People don't always understand the weight of having a friendship unknowingly started and unexpectingly built through time and experience; together where two people out of billions are connected and solidified.
Not all people have this nor will always have the chance to be so; and in this short, yes.. short, time we saw how Penny's and Sheldon's bond grew and was built up.. the least we can do is appreciate the connections and opportunities we have that not everyone have or will be given or still have.

Isn't this what true friendship is all about? Finding someone who, despite all of your faults and flaws, still cares for you? I find it so sweet how Sheldon always goes to Penny first whenever he has a problem. He is also hanging out with her in the show more than anyone else.
They might have never been a couple but their platonic brother-sister-like relationship was by far one of the best and there was a lot more chemistry between both Sheldon and Penny than there was between her and Leonard; theirs faded while Sheldon and Penny’s never faltered or faded for the entire show.

I never stopped and noticed the way Sheldon’s face is after their first meeting and she calls him a genius. Soft 🥺
Penny is a genius too, but in a different way with Sheldon. She is a genius in dealing with people. Leonard's mom loved her too and they were close.
Penny opened the door for Amy, before Penny there were no girls in Sheldon's life. Sheldon learned to trust Penny, he opened his heart a little more when he met her and he changed. Penny taught him that there are more things in life than work and education. Sheldon was a good friend for Penny, he made sure she reached for bigger things in life. He helped her so many times with her money issues and during her breakups with Leonard, Sheldon stood beside her although Leonard was his best friend.

I know this will sound geeky but Sheldon is like his favorite person in Mr Spock from Star Trek..here's why
1. Spock was half human/half Vulcan...Sheldon was the one who felt alien in his own home at times
2. Both geniuses
3. Both were bullied in school and very rarely had many friends
4. Both lived away from home when they got the chance
5. Both of them tried to keep their "human" feelings deep inside. Both believed logic was only thing necessary
6. Both found friends that they would do anything for, and they would in return. Spock found Kirk and McCoy, then Sulu, Chekov, Scotty. Uhura....Sheldon found Leonard, Penny, Amy. Bernadette, Raj, Stuart, even Will Wheaton. Spock died saving his friends and his friends took whatever means was necessary to bring him back. I have no doubts Sheldon would have done the same
7. Both found that family doesn't end in blood
8. Both found their own path by opening themselves up more and allowing people to know the real person. Found that you can combine logic with friendship and love, and it turned out great for them

this was literally the most underrated friendship in the show. sheldon literally had a soft spot for penny even if he didn't want to admit it. and for it being such a casual show they really brought it to life.
I always found Penny and Sheldon's friendship so pure and amazing. They both stepped outside their comfort zones and became like siblings.....its so heartwarming.

Sheldon is the bratty super genius and even though he’s 24/7 arrogant, he always helps Penny with realistic practical advice and gets her out of trouble.
When Penny and Lenard broke up, Sheldon was trying to meet Penny in secret so that their friendship doesn’t vanish.

Could be because their characters weren't trying to boink each other and IRL Parsons is gay. When you can be your true honest self with someone, even scripted actions can seem natural and have more chemistry.
This is so freaking cute. These two has a relationship that is diffrent from everything else. The writers of the show did a REALLY good job with that kind of friendship. When you look at the show you just laugh about how weird Sheldon is and how diffrent Penny and he is. But when you think about it’s so freaking beutiful

Aaaaaahhhh OMG a Shenny video!!! I am so happy right now! I haven't seen a new Shenny video in ages. I shipped them so hard. They were the best part of TBBT, and I'm still bitter that the writers never explored it. I actually stopped watching altogether around season 6. I just couldn't take the way they treated Penny's character, making her nothing more than the butt of the joke to play up the intelligence of the other ladies. Not to mention the alcoholism and everything with her and Leonard...
But this video reminded me just how sweet Shenny were and how good they were for each other. Sheldon opened up to Penny in such a natural, unforced way, and she had so much patience for her "whackadoodle". And Sheldon saw so much more in Penny than anyone else did. He encouraged her to follow her dreams. I love that you included the "We're dreamers" line! Eep and you included his reaction to her acting!
