@@amylomo9793 it 100% always depends on the lenses you choose! some anamorphic lenses are more high contrast and some arent, if u go vintage glass it's going to look more vintage. It may sound silly, but the scene where Katie Cassidy’s character washes the dishes while she’s all dressed up is one of my favorite scenes in film. The glitz and glamour is what she wanted, but isn’t at all what she needed. The quiet and introspective moments of this film really make it stand out among other teen movies like this.
I always think fondly of this movie, Catherine Tate was a fun supporting role, plus Rest in Peace, Cory Moneith. I can't believe that he's been gone almost a decade now. 💔
9:22 I TELL EVERYONE THIS!! we really need romcoms to come back with this style, especially nowadays with people filming on VHS, crappy quality romcoms are ICONIC.
no because we never talked enough about the trio that is selena gomez, katie cassidy, AND leighton meester (AND the addition of cory monteith!!) and i simply feel so grateful that you’ve made this video; thank you for the throwback, trin!
I love this movie, it's definitely a comfort/nostalgia one. The soundtrack is also a big part of that for me plus the fact the score is by Michael Giacchino who also did Up and Ratatouille. Hearing it honestly feels like a warm hug 🥰
Same!! This film has been everything to me since it came out and growing up I resonated with the soundtrack so much.. until last year I looked it up and listened to the whole OST. Michael Giacchino is the best.. really adds an atmosphere and emotion to the film
Yes to everything you said about 1. The hazy/grainy film quality 2. the chemistry and 3. The better writing of these movies from bak and the day. And since you mentioned it, PLEASE make a Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants video
Whenever Trin mentioned the camera not needing to be Hi-Def, I’m like THANK YOU!!! Your words perfectly explained how much we need this camera back in filming.
This movie was a huge thing in my country because a good chunk of it (even a lot of Monte Carlo scenes) were filmed here in Hungary. I still remember girls freaking out Selena is filming at their school and such. It's a cute feel good movie, I really love it.
My little sister spent half a year bullying me into watching this movie. I finally did a couple of months ago and I've got to say I have no regrets. Truly iconic
ngl, one of the funniest commentaries I’ve seen in a while. Also I agree with the “this genre of movie doesn’t develop the characters as much in newer movies” I feel like, the older of this type of movie tended to be more character driven while the newer ones tend to be more plot driven. They spend all the time trying to foward the plot that they forget to develop their characters
I was watching Seinfeld yesterday and I said the exact same thing about wishing the slightly shittier cameras back to life. It made everything a little romantic, a little smoothed out, a little bit more fantastical and magical instead of so in your face real
I am not even joking when I say this is one of my favourite movies of all time. It’s just such a comfort movie and makes me so happy every time I watch it 😂

i loved selena when this movie came out, my aunt took me and my brother to see it and we were the ONLY ones in the theater 😂😂 we just seat hopped the entire time
I literally agree w EVERY thing that trin talked abt dealing w movies nowadays in this movie especially the camera thing like the clearness and the realness of the colors in movies nowadays just takes away the fun. Thats how I felt about that new ashton kutcher reese witherspoon movie it was so awk feeling

I remember being obsessed with this movie however I wasn’t a big fan of Selena’s love interest or the ending😅 also you’re right about Meg and ….the blonde girl’s character they should have had enemies to lovers. You’re right and you should say it
this is my ultimate favourite rom-com and MOVIE EVER like hello?? it actually awoke something in me and it changed me as a person. i am who i am today because of this movie and only because of this movie. i want to live in this movie. most of my fantasies originated from the plot. the sound track? slaps. the setting? magnifique. YES! I love what you said about old films and older cameras. It just feels warmer and.. uh. More of a film, you know? Now it doesn't feel "real" enough.
i got so excited when this movie was free to watch on youtube. did selena forget her accent sometimes? yes. but you know what, this movie is still golden.
I have a weird relationship with this movie. I really enjoyed it, it’s so much fun! But I remember watching it on the plane and then little later, my plane nearly crashed. So yeah, I love it but at the same time, I don’t 😅 Also yes 100%, the camera quality from all the shows and movies I watched growing up was what made it for me! The nostalgia in the quality, chefs kisses
Trin! We have countless conversations about bringing older camera back in film school and it could happen, it’s just a style choice that people don’t choose anymore for some reason :(
I get what you mean about the high def cameras, like I love a good grainy camera. With every movie now being so clear and none giving me nostalgia vibes I watch teen French or German movies from the 70s and American as well. I don’t know why but grain/blur and coloring really does something to me for sure increases the vibes a movie is putting to its audiences.
This movie will always be everything to me, and if my trip to France isn't like this - I don't want it nor need it. I literally used to watch the DVD like every day growing up (from 9 to 11) and then I lost it in a fire, and never replaced it. But yay! I'm so glad everyone else loves it just as much as I do. And I know exactly what you mean about cameras being too clear now
