Elzora has gray hair which gives her the appearance of being Mozelles mothers age. Maybe mom took Elzoras husband and the curse was placed on the entire family. Anyone who falls in love with a Batiste is destined to suffer. Part of the curse is that people are destined to fall in love and worship the Batiste and suffer as a result. Even Mr Monroe said to Dr. "I loved you, I trusted you". Look what happened to the eldest daughter when she fell in love with her father. Eve may be the one powerful enough to break the curse as she was never as smitten with her father as her sister was. Julian's fate was sealed once he fell for Mozelle.
But Mozelle’s mother isn’t a Batiste though. She married into the Batiste family. Plus, it sounds like the curse is from generations before that. I have to rewatch the movie to be sure.

You guys rock! I do believe that her curse was broken by her brother after his passing. Mozelle did kinda hint it in her conversation with Eve regarding her dream at the end. Her brother told her to allow a woman to drown and keep flying. This allowed her to feel strong enough to tell Julian she'll marry him. In all aspect Mozelle is a counselor and healer. She brings comfort and closer that does aid in people to put in work to heal themselves. The problem, in my opinion, after having her fortune told Mozelle didn't have enough time to figure out how to heal herself and break her own curse before Julian arrived. That's probably reading too much into her story but she did get comfort from her brother after his passing and she did keep saying in the movie that her and her brother are a like or two of a kind. The other fortune teller and Mozelle were right when all readings were read. After the incident with slapping the oldest daughter the father had an opportunity or window to fix his situation with his eldest daughter and wife (the letter Eve found in her father's study). He was supposed to have seen Roz for the first time and he would've started setting boundaries and things were supposed to have gotten better but because Eve planted seeds in Mr. Monroe's head he never got too. All and all my theory is her brother saw the problem after his passing and since he was denied fixing his own problems instead fixed his sister's issue instead through a dream to her while leaving a message to his youngest daughter. Just saying. Correct me if I'm wrong in any way. Thanks for the video. You have a new subscriber. I really love discussions like this on movies and music videos. Thanks again.
Hey Vee and thanks so much for watching and for your thoughtful comments! I think Louis coming in the dream was to being peace to his loved ones, but I'm not sure that broke the curse. I agree that in the movie, after his passing, he was able to see the errors of his ways in his own life and the troubles it caused. I agree with you that Louis died right before his opportunity to fix the situation.
I'm just mad that the director doesn't have more things on TV I wish this director had her own series... And just for the record nobody who can see the past can ever see the future it's one or the other I'd like to have that added to a series
As a woman who recently lost the woman that she loves, I can honestly say that I would sacrifice my own happiness IN A HEARTBEAT if i knew it would allow her to live.
He’s only doomed if they actually get married but I think it’s something different about Julian so I don’t think he is going to die like the others and I think he knows
Julian is doomed. I would have to imagine that she either told him or he has heard around town but just doesn’t care. I am from a Louisiana town where everyone knows and talks about people around town. Plus I am from a Creole family like the Batiste. He would have known.
9:51 I think it’s a nod to Romeo and Juliet. It was quoted often in the movie and like you guys said, it’s a love story about sacrifice. Knowing that it’ll end poorly and not care. I also could see her ending her life with him like Juliet did.
After hearing you guys' theory about Nino Brown in NEW JACK CITY, I immediately subscribed to your channel. It was a thorough examination of all the major players, and I loved how you went through it with a fine-toothed comb. That said, I'm going to watch all your theory videos. As for whether Julian can escape Mozelle's curse, I tend to think of it the way I do when I listen to discussions the Greek tragedies. When the main character visits the Oracle of Delphi (insert ominous thunderclap), they hear the bad news, then go about doing everything they can to change or avoid it, but with no success. Think Oedipus. However, I have also been hearing discussions on the latest GOD OF WAR game. In the Greek series, Kratos does not allow the Sisters of Fate to determine the outcome of his life story (never mind also killing them). However, once he makes it to the Nordic realm and encounters the Norns, they also try to tell him of his fate. This is also the case with Atreus and Angrboda. Her paintings were telling an interpretation of his possible future. Ultimately, the two learn that changing their behavior and habits can determine their respective outcomes. I commented on the longer version of this analysis that their curse was infidelity. Changing that might have saved Louis and Mozelle's husbands.
I think Julian may have also been cursed, which in a twist of fate, led him to Mozelle. No need to tell him. I think there was a silent, mutual understanding and that if they were both doomed, they'll suffer this doom TOGETHER. Maybe each of his wives or loves left him and he went to Mozelle for his own curse... just a thought.
Julian seemed like he wouldn’t care if he died to be with her. The fact that he went that long and lost everything but still looking for his wife showed how passionate he was about love. Maybe she warned him in private but he wouldn’t have it any other way! I also feel like there was something special about Julian lol like he was an Angel or something it might have just been his appearance with the long hair.
No she will not tell. Mozelle was cursed because she never revealed her curse. If revealed the curse would break but she is too much like her brother to reveal the truth. That is why the witch doctor said she will always be cursed. Julian will meet his end because of Mozelle.
@@AxiomAmnesia Exactly. Mozelle truths others but lies to herself & those close to her. If the men find out she probably lies. It is shown the bloodline lies & puts people in webs.. Also the women live but the men don't fair too well. Mozelle is a black widow but lives but her brother & other men are not & they die.
So good morning 🌅 I had to actually go back and watch this movie again because as a kid I never paid it no mind but it was good now looking at it it's a masterpiece it's actually deep but I love y'all's content 💕
A black widow is a woman spiritually gifted for the most part who god wants to himself! He allows temporary love but women like these need to stick to their gifts an be guide’s to others while on earth
IF this ever gets a sequel, I have a feeling the women might find and dig up the wax coffin. I believe Eve will tell Mozelle what happened... when the curse kills again. If there is another movie, it would be a weird prequel, sequel. We see the death of a loved one or maybe Julian dodges death and gets a glimpse at the curse I REALLY believe he's intuitive. We then get the story of why the curse was placed and then they have to appease it and find out where the wax coffin is buried... actually Eve was told where it was buried. We also will get the bonus story of who was El Zora.
I love you guys Channel already I couldn't sleep last night and somehow you guys channel showed up with Eve's Bayou as the topic 1 of my mom's and I favorite movies! She didn’t tell him and that’s her being dishonest. It’s too bad, really. Sine Curses can be lifted with a lot if help. He could have helped her for their future; she didn’t know what he knew or WHO he knew that could’ve helped.
Julian is doomed! I love you guy's theories and usually agree..but this time I'm gonna suggest something. It seems as though Julian is involved with the mystical side of life as well, what if it takes that type of partner to override a black widow curse..I remember him saying, that she was only wounded, he may have the elixir..
Hey Remington!!! I'm open to the idea that Julian could be the antidote, or at least they could search together for the cure. We kind of talk about that when we were saying that maybe we could find the cure if we were the characters in the film. 😊
Curses can be broken. I think the man knew. He gave me the impression he was a healer or intuitive man. I believe he broke or negated the curse or he causes it to slow down. I don't believe she took that cursed secret to the grave... she loves this man. She has guilt over her three dead husbands and to not tell Julian... it doesn't add up. After her brother's death, I believe she finally told him.
This literally is my favorite serious that y’all did … this movie is very interesting and I always wondered if it was a family curse. It just makes sense
I feel that she probably didn't tell him, but because it's a small community, Julian either would find out about it later and forgive her or he might have already known and didn't believe it nor care about it.
I think Zora was predicting that the curse was coming to an end for Mozel. Zora stated that "Next man you marry is a dead man." not will be a dead man. So in a way she was saying that she would have a successful union this time. He did seem to be dead when he showed up. He began to fit in with the family.
What if…he already knew about this curse and he didn’t car bc he was still so in love with his wife that if death comes with being with Mozelle, so be it. He’ll be set free from his misery.
I believe she causes the curse. It doesn't matter, he is not leaving her even if she tells him. He's too into her. His mind will convince him the curse not real.

I think she told him eventually. And I think the reason she was cursed is because maybe one of her past lovers was elzoras husband that left her for Mozelle. Idk just guessing
This was a great video, I went back and watched the movie and couldn't help noticing that Mozelle was flirting with a different man during the party scene before Harry passed. It's in the background and I think only subliminally placed in the scene but interesting nonetheless.
@@AxiomAmnesia this kind of makes me think that maybe the curse is fulfilled when she blatantly messes around with other men while her husband (s) had knowledge of it. Maybe Harry got so drunk because he saw what she was doing and that was his way of coping. Maynard was killed in his own home because, even though Mozelle was ready to leave, I believe she only changed her mind because Maynard proved that he was willing to die for her. I don't think she thought it would actually happen though. Also, Mozelle did say that she couldn't see any of her husband's futures which may have been the thing that initially attracted her to them. But she did see Julian's which makes me think that maybe he did come into her life to heal her of the curse that she holds in her heart and hince his line where he essentially states that he can heal her.
That's an excellent point about the fact that Mozelle could see something for Julian when she said she saw nothing of the previous husbands. The question I have is whether she meant she saw nothing period or whether seeing nothing was only in reference to their future. With Julian she didn't see his future, she saw his wife's whereabouts and what she was up to. This is a great observation that makes me think!
Jolleen, she said she was cursed then talked about being barren, thus implying that her curse was being barren. We know that Julian was talking about being barren because he addresses the barren part but doesn't mention being doomed himself because of her.
I think the difference between Mozelle & Julian is that when Julian came to see her about his Wife, she was able to see a vision. When talking to Eve, Mozelle stated that when she tried to look at her other Husband’s futures, she couldn’t see anything. So I feel like that’s the only caveat between Julian and Mozelle’s Husbands.

Maybe 4th times the charm?🤷🏾♀️ Also I always thought Elzora was just messing with Mozelle because she was turning up her nose at her. Why not use the cat bones? Because Elzora knew that would cut Mozelle like a knife
So first off I’m pretty sure he’s supposed to be a native man and he comes off as a healer or shamanic practitioner or something. I believe when she had that dream and left her “dead self” behind I felt that was supposed to signify her breaking her personal curse.
Julian is doomed. Once he marries her the curse is in motion. He won't leave because it's his love and marriage that that activates the curse and binds them till his death.
"Julien is doomed" Question?.. Is the curse only activated once she's married, or is it activated once a man falls in love with her? Cuz if it's only activated once she's married. Then I just wouldn't marry her. I get it's the 60's and ideologies were different, but if she keeps it a bean. And the only way he's doomed is by marrying her. Then just don't marry her. Just be a couple thts in it 4 the long haul w/o being married. Im sure the heavens above would understand why they didnt tie the knot. That may be how you have to beat the Eve's bayou version of final destination.
DOE, that's a great question. Elzora does say the next man who marries her will be dead, but this could be one of those things that implies the cultural equivalent of being together as married since to be shacking up would be frowned upon.
Julian is doomed! Not! He either did not come back from looking for his wife or he came back and couldn't marry Mozelle because he could never find his wife to divorce her. Long lives Julian!😋
On the other hand, Mozelle and Julian established a soul tie and that makes him her husband and he never comes back because 'him dead', but the guy she was having an affair with would have had to die too because of a soul tie. I think I need to watch this movie again 🤔
So is the curse w/e man falls in love w/ her & vice versa will pass or if they married her they will pass ? My thing is why marry them, just be in love in a common law marriage 😅.

If he’s the next one Mozelle marries, Julian is doomed. Even if he gets out of it. She should’ve told him and let him decide if he wants to believe in the curse or not. She said he wouldn’t have it any other way, so I’d doubt a crazy curse like that would sway him.
Julian is doomed. Mozelle is a curse, but also is cursed to be barren. She told him her curse of being barren, but she doesn’t at that time fully take responsibility of being a curse to her husbands. In the end when she does own that she is a curse, she selfishly continues to pursue this marriage and blames Julian for being persistent. Julian’s fate was sealed when he was pointed in her direction. Mozelle, just like Louis cannot resist her urges. All the Batiste by blood are cursed or curses and it all has to do with love and attention. Eve’s love for her sister, Mozelle’s and Louis’ love of attention and affection, and Cisely’s love for her father. The Baptiste women are the curse that leads to death, while the Baptist men are curse to die. What happened to all the Baptist men, in the movie we only see two and by the end only one is left.
Julian is doomed! o_0 1) Mozelle should've told Julian... 2) He had a right to know Mozelle's condition, in it's entirety as it effects him too! 3) They're still married even if separated. He can't escape! Some circumstance will occur to suck him back into her web....
Julien is doomed if he stays with Mozelle but if he leaves like you said then it should be safe eve's bayou is one of my all time favorite movies my kids are sick of it because every time it comes on I watch it lol.
Interesting thought... How would Eve's visions change Mozelle's curse though? I'm thinking that the visions simply show you the future and other events, and don't necessarily have an effect on the future themselves.
I think Mozelles curse was generational and not targeted, the reason I think this is because the intro of the movie is focused on the ancestor Eve and her name is shown in various clips through out the movie which make me think the curse must have something to do with her. Another reason being that Mozelle and Louis’s father is Never shown or referenced during the movie, neither are any of the other Male figures in the family. They also don’t go into detail about having any extended family members outside of themselves descending from the Baptiste family, as we can see in the part of the movie where the oldest sister is sent to live with her mothers family it’s almost as if going to live with someone on the fathers side isn’t possible. I also think El Zora is a relative of the Baptiste family, the way Mozelle goes to her and whole heartedly believes her without question leaves one to believe they have a longer history than what is initially led on El Zora might just be the sister to either Mozelle’s mother or father and be living with the curse as well as we can see she was living alone with zero family photos during Young Eves visit to her home.
Hello and thanks for watching! Have you completed the video, or was this a comment made during the video? Just asking so I can better understand the context of your comment.
Oh okay. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making any assumptions. 😊 Your interpretation is interesting. So do you think Mozelle told Julian about the curse?
@@AxiomAmnesia yes and no I think Mozelle let’s Julian have his own interpretation of the curse probably assuming him now knowing would give him more time
Naw he’s doomed cus she didnt tell him. She seemed like she was about to then she said instead that she’s barren. I feel like she full well believed the curse was true but she didnt want to lose him(might have even read him to see what his reaction would be) so she chose not to tell him. Its giving foolish hope
But like u guys say it's a generational curse. , Not just on Mozel, but her mother too, and Louis and everyone. What if every every man in the family that gets married dies. And every woman in the family who gets married ,her husband dies. Maybe Baptiste the Second messed with somebody wife too , hence the curse
Perhaps... But in our theory the generational curse directly affects the Batiste women. The only males in the family that we are aware of are Louis and Poe. The reason Louis was affected is through Cisely, not because he was directly cursed... According to our theory.
Elzora just reporting the news and she tells facts only. It is a wrap for Julian. Mozelle didn’t share she is the blk widow because she is selfish. A man’s love is life I don’t see him sticking around if he knew, especially after his wife bounced.
I wanna play Devil's Advocate...Let's say Moselle did eventually tell Julian the truth. Let's look at it this way, I keep going back to what she said, Her and Louis are one in the SAME. What if after Louis' funeral she realized that What El Zora said is true. She too eventually would meet her untimely demise, Remember when El Zora told Eve she buried the coffin " Down there, where ALL them Batiste are buried. If the curse is on the ENTIRE FAMILY, Moselle is not EXCLUDED.So maybe after the funeral she decided to come clean to Julian, Remember she said HE WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY, So she decided if he loves me this much to sacrifice himself for me,maybe GOD will be kind and I can go with HIM, when it's his time, or she's gonna go anyway cuz she doesn't want to live the rest of her life alone..... WHEW CHILE 😳What Y'ALL Think 🤔
Hey Sharail!!! 😊 So I think the crux of the curse and the torture of it all is that Mozelle is left behind and separated from her loves. She will eventually die, as anyone else, but she's gotten to the point where she has accepted her fate and the curse... So much so that she hopes to die WITH Julian, rather than be left behind. The curse doesn't work like that though. As far as the "where all the Batistes are buried" comment, I think this indicates that the family has a long line and name in town, and also that they are prestigious there, having their own cemetery perhaps.
That's possible. Do you think her waiting to tell him was wrong? If she indeed told him when you say, that would mean that she waited until he was fully in love before he found out.
@@AxiomAmnesia definitely omitting that from the first conversation was wrong . so I do believe she was scared to say more about the deaths, however afterwards I feel that she could’ve divulged more information as their relationship progressed.
The actor that played Julian was married to Kasi Lemmons the director - imagine directing your husband to kiss better ! Wow !
I'm so sorry for your loss. ❤️
I'm sorry you're grieving right now and your love is so pure.
Condolences to you sweetheart ❤
Thank you guys.
He’s only doomed if they actually get married but I think it’s something different about Julian so I don’t think he is going to die like the others and I think he knows
Akira, how do you think Julian will get out of it?
Julian is doomed. I would have to imagine that she either told him or he has heard around town but just doesn’t care. I am from a Louisiana town where everyone knows and talks about people around town. Plus I am from a Creole family like the Batiste. He would have known.
He's only doomed if they got married.
@@CleanMusicLover229no he's not lol. The curse was broken
I believe the spider was a symbolic of Moselle because some female spiders after mating will kill the male spider

I think it’s a nod to Romeo and Juliet.
😲
Okay Tony! So the truth would set her free!
I wonder if elzora was purposely sending these lovers to mozelle to torment her because she really has a gift and she doesn’t??
I believe Elzora put a curse on the Batiste.
Interesting...I never thought of that...
Also with Jason's Lyric.. thank you guys for bringing these cult classics back alive with deeper thought. New subbie for life!! 💫
Hey Ebony and we're so glad you found us! Welcome aboard! 😊
I thought that Deliverance is the only way to break a generational curse

@@AxiomAmnesia 💙
Curses can be broken. I think the man knew. He gave me the impression he was a healer or intuitive man. I believe he broke or negated the curse or he causes it to slow down. I don't believe she took that cursed secret to the grave... she loves this man. She has guilt over her three dead husbands and to not tell Julian... it doesn't add up. After her brother's death, I believe she finally told him.
Debbie Morgan is gorgeous ❤
This literally is my favorite serious that y’all did … this movie is very interesting and I always wondered if it was a family curse. It just makes sense
Thank you! ❤️😊
If Mozelle doesn’t cheat on Julian then the curse will be broken and he won’t die . If she cheats he’s a goner!!
😂 We like this theory! The question is whether we can say for sure Mozelle cheated on her first husband, Anderson. 🤔
@@AxiomAmnesia Or her last husband.... she only admitted to cheating on hubby #2.
That’s “no it don’t”😂😂😂😂
I feel that she probably didn't tell him, but because it's a small community, Julian either would find out about it later and forgive her or he might have already known and didn't believe it nor care about it.
Another Black Classic 💎
I think Zora was predicting that the curse was coming to an end for Mozel. Zora stated that "Next man you marry is a dead man." not will be a dead man. So in a way she was saying that she would have a successful union this time. He did seem to be dead when he showed up. He began to fit in with the family.
The spider looked like it was shedding its skin.
Julian is doomed.
I think that Julian is doomed unless Moselle gets deliverance from that curse and only God can do that.
What if…he already knew about this curse and he didn’t car bc he was still so in love with his wife that if death comes with being with Mozelle, so be it. He’ll be set free from his misery.
I think the death of her brother broke her curse that's why he told her in the dream don't look back
I believe she causes the curse. It doesn't matter, he is not leaving her even if she tells him. He's too into her. His mind will convince him the curse not real.
Julian is doomed. Just discovered ya'll today thru your other Eve video. Love the dynamic ya'll got going and ya'll give some great thoughts and insights. Can't wait to watch more of your content.

That Eve’s Bayou video was GREAT!
That’s how I discovered them too.
I think she told him eventually. And I think the reason she was cursed is because maybe one of her past lovers was elzoras husband that left her for Mozelle. Idk just guessing
Julian is doomed! Loving your analysis! This is one of my all time favorite movies!
This was a great video, I went back and watched the movie and couldn't help noticing that Mozelle was flirting with a different man during the party scene before Harry passed. It's in the background and I think only subliminally placed in the scene but interesting nonetheless.
Interesting find!!! I'll have to take another look now!
She told him she was cursed every man she married dies and julian told her you not curse you wounded and its here that I'll plant seeds
She did tell warned Julien she was cursed he said to her your not cursed just your just need to healed he just was willing to still get married to her
Jolleen, she said she was cursed then talked about being barren, thus implying that her curse was being barren. We know that Julian was talking about being barren because he addresses the barren part but doesn't mention being doomed himself because of her.
Of course she didn't tell him the full extent of the curse.

So first off I’m pretty sure he’s supposed to be a native man and he comes off as a healer or shamanic practitioner or something. I believe when she had that dream and left her “dead self” behind I felt that was supposed to signify her breaking her personal curse.
The mind is a powerful thing words have power maybe she should have manifested goodness and blessings instead of pain and misery
I’ve NEVER been this early. Hi y’all ❤
Hey Bailey!!! ❤️
Julian is doomed. Once he marries her the curse is in motion. He won't leave because it's his love and marriage that that activates the curse and binds them till his death.
"Julien is doomed"
Question?..
@@AxiomAmnesia well if it is a situation where they're doomed only once tying the knot. Id be a shackin it up. Call me "Shaqtin' a Fool" 😆

Julian Is Doomed
Mozelle was literally a Black widow three times over.....and yes, I honestly believe Julian is cursed whether he leaves her or not.

Julian was gonna probably ride or die... You're right!
Julian is doomed! o_0
1) Mozelle should've told Julian...
2) He had a right to know Mozelle's condition, in it's entirety as it effects him too!
3) They're still married even if separated. He can't escape! Some circumstance will occur to suck him back into her web....
Hey Thaddeus and thanks for watching!!! Okay, but what if he divorces Mozelle? Will that get him out of danger?
@@AxiomAmnesia The divorce would've severed the connection needed to continue the curse.
He would of ran from her for sure which is why she didn’t tell him. She told him about his wife and he believed her
She didn't doom him. The curse was broken when Louis was murdered
This movie was so traumatizing 🥴
Julien is doomed if he stays with Mozelle but if he leaves like you said then it should be safe eve's bayou is one of my all time favorite movies my kids are sick of it because every time it comes on I watch it lol.
Julian is doomed.☠️
it's not talking about after the movie is done and over with or is y'all talking about a real story and you're not telling them
Can you please explain?
Julian is doomed. But what if when eve started having her visions it changes something for the aunt so many when he dies she can go with him
Interesting thought... How would Eve's visions change Mozelle's curse though? I'm thinking that the visions simply show you the future and other events, and don't necessarily have an effect on the future themselves.
Jillian is doomed! 😂😂
Please I need to know someone tell me why was she cursed in the first place or how did she get cursed .... ALSO JULIAN IS DOOMED😮
I think she told him. I also don't think he was doomed.
Damn I know it's a fake story but I seems so real
Fiction is wonderful when the stories are well written! 😊
@@AxiomAmnesia after sorry just a conjunction of thoughts
Oh okay. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making any assumptions. 😊 Your interpretation is interesting. So do you think Mozelle told Julian about the curse?
@@AxiomAmnesia yes and no I think Mozelle let’s Julian have his own interpretation of the curse probably assuming him now knowing would give him more time
How does know about the curse give him more time?
Yes I think Julian will continue to be curse after dealing with Mozelle romantically, even after leaving her if that was the case lol
JULIAN IS DOOMED!
Naw he’s doomed cus she didnt tell him. She seemed like she was about to then she said instead that she’s barren. I feel like she full well believed the curse was true but she didnt want to lose him(might have even read him to see what his reaction would be) so she chose not to tell him. Its giving foolish hope
Kali, I can't argue with that! Thanks for watching!
JULIAN IS DOOMED
But like u guys say it's a generational curse. , Not just on Mozel, but her mother too, and Louis and everyone. What if every every man in the family that gets married dies. And every woman in the family who gets married ,her husband dies. Maybe Baptiste the Second messed with somebody wife too , hence the curse
Perhaps... But in our theory the generational curse directly affects the Batiste women. The only males in the family that we are aware of are Louis and Poe. The reason Louis was affected is through Cisely, not because he was directly cursed... According to our theory.
@@AxiomAmnesia I love y'all page , please keep it up. I love the theories

@@AxiomAmnesia lol I don’t wish it on him but that’s the pattern in this case 🤷🏽♀️
Hey we gotta be honest about it and the pattern doesn't make things sound good for him.
Julian is doomed. Doooooomed!
Julian is gorgeous, love will survive! If he becomes man of The Most High!
@@AxiomAmnesia OK OK 👍🏾 👌🏾

@@AxiomAmnesia definitely omitting that from the first conversation was wrong . so I do believe she was scared to say more about the deaths, however afterwards I feel that she could’ve divulged more information as their relationship progressed. At that point he had already determined he wanted to be with her regardless of her curse
