    Fritz clearly didnt show up for this match for some reason. But in bigger tournaments, he has improved so much in the last year. He’s building a complete game and adding explosiveness to his movement. The the time and effort he has put in is apparent and he’s poised to get plenty of top 20 wins this year. But not in this match

    Just listened to Krueger on the Coffee Cast with Noah Rubin and Mike Ca$hin, humble dude I’m definitely a fan now.

      He didn't achieve shit at 25 so why wouldn't he be humble ? Lol such judgement can only be said about really successful people

      ut bo he’s a professional athlete... he’s in the top 1% of his field... comparing him to top 10 players isn’t relevant

    I think that two key changes could make a world of difference for Fritz. First, he moves with absolutely no urgency out there. His footwork is...ok. I get that he’s a big lanky guy, and isn’t going to be Nadal on the court, but there is zero explosiveness in his game, so if a guy like Krueger can get a racquet on his serve, Fritz is caught flat-footed, and the point goes back to neutral. I suspect his core strength is limited, so I would start there. Second, he needs to mix in the slice backhand a lot more. His backhand is a very good shot, but when he has to run to that side, he can’t plant and torque the ball, like Novak or Nadal. So instead, he would be well served to knife through it and save himself some energy.

      I definitely see potential in Fritz. He's big and has a massive serve and good groundstrokes on both sides. He just has things he really should work on, like you said.

    • @JimKirk1
      @JimKirk1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @is everybody in * I mean, on a purely technical level, he doesn't. He's certainly not required to change anything, and he can have a nice enough career and have lots of money if he plays for awhile.
      But if he wants to rank higher, there's still things he can improve on. I definitely wouldn't call this the best he can do.

      @UCxlPkyr5oa6CrHhEe0Kfq-g I never called him lazy, nor do I consider him one. I think he's got the drive to try to get better.
      As for the talented ones being lazy, I guess you're not wrong, but I'd say the top (like top 10 or so) players need to be both talented and hard-working, so I'd imagine they'd also be called talented, or at least most.
      Also, energy conservation. I get what you're saying, about not blowing energy on points you can't win or that would cost too much to win, but that's the thing. I think there's points that he can win that he can't get into position for. Isner could be said to be very energy efficient, but he's easily countered by those who can return his shots and are decent accurate. I think Fritz can do more than trade games won.

      @is everybody in * The top players of this new gen already have most, if not all of what Fritz has to offer, and also get the added bonus of usually being faster; Medvedev, Thiem, Tsitsipas are all good servers, and are fast to boot. Fritz still can outserve, but the others already have a leg up.
      I definitely think he can make top 10, but I don't think he can put in minimal effort and just jump in, not with the kind of players we see now.
      I watched some Wolf and I do say that I liked how he plays; I'm a fan of aggressive tennis. He has potential if he continues in his career

    • @JimKirk1
      @JimKirk1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @is everybody in * No, no, opinions are fine. I don't agree, but that's just me.
      It's not necessarily "faster"; it's my fault for misusing the word. I should've used "quicker". Those three are quicker to get up to speed, which is what really matters in catching shots or repositioning.
      Personally I like how matches are set up right now. Shorter and you lose chances at comebacks; Thiem would've won the Australian Open if it was only best of 3, for instance. And that's part of what make the Big Three so special, their ability to win even if the chips are down.
      I get Nadal isn't everyone's cup of tea. Personally I love him (all the Big Three really) but that's just me. And personally, I think hard work should be rewarded. There's lots of talented players; the ones that will be stand out or be remembered are the ones that are willing to put in the time and effort. But again, that's just me.

    Fritz playing a challenger?

    • @12kgpTennis
      @12kgpTennis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      It's one of the bigger challenger tournaments with 125 points to the winner. Fritz has won the tournament the last two years since it started, so he also was defending his points from last year.

    I was at the match. Krueger played very strong...great serving and dictating whenever possible. He had a clear strategy to get into the Fritz backhand, which is a weak area in the Fritz game. In the 3rd, Krueger just served great on key points and played aggressive, yet high percentage tennis.
