What a job they've made of simply changing a hdd. I have a ten year old Toshiba where all you have to do is unscrew 2 screws to access the drive then four more to remove it. It takes 2 minutes. Thanks for showing us what needs to be done on an Acer.
Hello from Australia - I am yet another grateful person that followed this vid to pull apart an old Aspire V5 (with touchscreen and backlit keys in silver) ...there were a few differences ...but it was mostly the same, ty!!
Many thanks for a most useful and simple to follow video. Couple of issues though, I have a V5-571P and the keyboard is not held by screws but with double sided adhesive. Also the 571P has an illuminated keyboard which means there is an additional cable next to the keyboard cable. Not a huge problem but perhaps something to be aware of.
OUTSTANDING, Brother! Trust me, I will NEVER buy another ACER anything! EVERYTHING is buried deep inside this V5. Wait till you have the JOY of replacing your CMOS Battery. Nice Presentation!
Great VDO!! BTW, My Acer laptop doesn't get into Bios.. No matter what key I press during Boot... F8, F11, F12 and many.. nothing works... Also tried testing the keyboard using online testing tool for faulty keys... and its perfect..
@techstore do you know which part of the video is the touchpad connector? i followed all instructions to clean fan etc. all is good except my touchpad is dead (most likely the connector didnt attached properly) but i dont know which one is. any help is appreciated
The CapsLock ,a,s,d,f,g,h and x,c,., , and leftside Ctrl Alt keys aren't working. Removed the keybaord data cable and re-inserted. Didnt work. I opened the black back cover of the keyboard and saw some dust below the transparent barrier. Cleaned the dust out but the problem persists. Any solution to this? The laptop is a V5-471
Help! if you can! Last year my laptop fell off and some parts included peaces that holds a screen are now broken E5 571. To make it work again ,can anyone confirm that I can buy laptop casing of either of V5 571 or F5 571 model and I could fit my hardware there? Is there as well a difference if I get a case from E5 575 or V5 575 or F5 575 models? I need to be sure before buying those spare repair casing. Is there anyone that can confirm that I could fit my MB from E5 571 to any of these? Thank you
WAIT till you need to replace your CMOS Battery! Also once the 19 screws were removed I discovered BOTH LCD PLASTIC "hinge mounts" were shattered. CHEAP / AWFUL / BAD design! NO more ACERS for me.
Great video. Typical of Acer, I've had 2 on the bench this morning. Something as simple as upgrading RAM or HD requires almost total disassembly of the laptop. Just another reason why when I'm asked for recommendations I say avoid Acer at all costs
Great video, all be careful of the zif tabs on the ribbon cables . Very easy to break those tabs, just lift gently THEN remove the ribbons. Save yourself two hours of hell replacing those tabs
