I have suffered from this badly in my adult years. What helped was gentle exfoliation once to a few times a week, and switching up what things you bathe/shower with. I quit using scented/dyed body washes, things that are harsh and strip the skin. I now pretty much use Aveeno scent free dye free Skin Relief body wash. Walmart carries off brand versions of their line and they work just fine. It's just that most of the time my store is out of the one I like. If you don't have access to the wash, you can use a mild scent free dye free bar soap to wash, and a packet of colloidal oatmeal bath soak. The main brand is once again Aveeno, but off brands work just as well. Once getting out of a bath/shower, when you go to dry off- pat dry. Do not be rough on the skin on your body. Try to leave a little bit of moisture still on your skin so you can apply a good lotion. (Once again scent free and dye free.) The lotion will take a bit longer to absorb, but it allows your body to replenish more water/moisture and repair the skin barrier. My advice would be if you do this to give yourself enough time for it and make a good spot for you to sit back and relax while it does. Once done you may put on whatever clothes you need and go about your day/night. Also, avoid prolonged exposure to super hot water when bathing/showering. The heat may feel fantastic, but it dries out your skin more and exacerbates the condition. Taking navy showers may be beneficial to lower the amount of drying you experience. Using lower temperatures helps when you are experiencing flare ups. Sorry for blabbing a lot, I just wanted to pass on my experience and knowledge. 🙏
So do we use the glove and after bath use glycolic acid over the skin or do we use the glycolic acid first then the glove? I’m confused as I think I should use a scrub and the glove and then post fry use glycolic acid. Thank you in advance
There's actually a reddit thread for KP sufferers and one person made a post about all the popular brands most of these derm video recommend they used over the years and nothing really helped. There was one who tried depilatory cream (Naire etc) and actually made it worse. Both threads have comments that share the experience. Nothing really works. The condition gets a bit better but there really isn't a cure that would make it totally go away. I myself suffer from this and have used countless products. A derm I went to said there is a cream she could recommend for short term use (like one of her patients was a bride and wanted to get rid of her kp so her arms would look good for her wedding day) she gave her that cream but warned that the moment you stop using that cream, kp would just return. She also said that it naturally smoothens out as you age and wouldn't be as rough. Mine flares up whenever the season changes (hot to cold then cold to hot) KP sucks 🤧
Yeah he's right exfoliate is the best solution for that prob you can dodo it at least once per week, but when you stop that weekly routine. It will come back.

I had this suddenly one day and went to dermatologist but nothing worked ever... While I was in college asked my derma prof and she then told me it's kp and its genetic will go away after I turn 25 I just have to continue moisturizing....i did... Moisturizer only keeps it less dry and less itchy but never went away till now ... I started using exfoliators twice a week and moisturizer twice a day makes skin lot smoother
I had this type of skin mainly on my upper arms . I had full body laser hair removal done and the keratosis pilaris disappeared- obviously as the hair follicles disappeared so did the bumps . I wish I had done this 30 years ago . So if you can afford it and have it done safely then PLEASE just try the laser hair removal . I know the chemical and mechanical exfoliation help but truly the laser hair removal just stopped the chicken skin . 😇
We have that in family, every one of us. The most helpful thing in my opinion is exposure to sun. I don’t want to waist my time money on chemical exfoliation. I’m not that embarrassed of it.
@folashadealiu9005 no I scrubb my face with a little soap and baking soda. Then splash vinegar on my face, and scrubb a little more. Then rinse my face. I swear to Christ this is the only skin concern that has ever even remotely started to resolve after doing what I've always heard to do, I use amlactin lotion twice a day. For years I was using it just once a day. Didn't do a damn thing. Have to be consistent into a twice a day. I finally started using glycolic acid in a product from Bliss for ingrown hairs. I can't say everything is resolved with the ingrown hairs, but my skin is so much smoother than I ever thought it would be.
What about vitamin deficiency causing this? As soon as I increased certain supplements this has never come back... If I stop supplements for a bit... It comes back... Check the diet as well...

My sisiter had chicken skin on both arms, so our doctor prescribed a $20 lotion to get rid of it. My mom had to apply it herself because she always forget😂
i mean... KP is harmless. i've had it my whole life and didn't know it was something people were self conscious about until my mid 20s. just wash and scrub your body like you normally would and you are fine. no need to do extra stuff unless you just really want to. i also honestly think it has faded with age (in my early 30s now and it's not very prominent on my arms anymore) so you may find that happens for you, as well.
@@mariafunk2057 kp itself is genetic and medically harmless, yes. if your skin is irritated, are you sure it's actually kp and not a rash or something? or if it is kp, is it the way you're treating it?

I use amlactin for the lactic acid. Seems to help but it's so greasy and I'm scared of touching my eyes after so I don't do it as much as I should lol
