The panel delivery body was the basis for the Cherokee.

They didnt make large number's of these, a lot of them were ordered by customers, with different options, the 2 wheel drive Jeep Panel Wagons were surprisingly popular, some companies, business's would buy 3 or 4 or more and use them as delivery vehicles, and service vehicles, They were ultra reliable, and cheap to repair, if I see one for sale I will for sure buy it.

The Jeep panel wagons and Wagoneers are both super cool. I have yet to see one! Thanks for watching and commenting! Subscribe for more Jeep history every Wednesday, follow my 86 Wag project

There had been a panel truck in the old flat-fender Willys wagon line that the Wagoneer replaced. Ford had made a clean break with their last pickup-based panel trucks in 1960 replaced by the Econoline in '61, Dodge kept building the 1950s-style Town Panel until 1965 or so alongside the more modern pickups launched in '61, then the A100 van took over from it. Probably everyone was surprised to see a panel truck in the new-for-'67 Chevy/GMC pickup line. It didn't survive that generation's run being dropped after 1970 but GM would sell you a bare-bones, un-upholstered (if fully glazed) Suburban with only a front seat at least into sometime in the early '80s, probably later with a large enough fleet order.

Very cool info here, thanks for sharing! I would be cool to create a video of all the panel vans from this era. I almost feel as if Ford's Econoline vans were probably the most popular of them all. I have seen quite a few of those before. Now when it comes to the old Wagoneer panel vans, those are super cool looking, unfortunately I have never seen one. I want to thank you for watching Wagon Works!
