    Carried a stockman from when i was a really young kid right thru high school. Still have it, yellow handled Sears craftsman that was a gift from my grandfather.

      That is epic! Gift from Grandpa - doesn’t get better than that. Very cool 👍🤙

    I'm not a trapper guy, I love stockmans because of the different length blade options for a work environment, if you don't work around people you probably don't have to worry about it. But I do like that trapper spey blade for its ability to spread butter on a biscuit in the morning when you're camping a lot better than the clip point.

    Wow, kudos to you for acknlowledging that women also like knives. I like all traditionals in a small size under 3 inches, usually carry a canoe or Victorinox for light duty. My girlfriends are pretty basic -- they like Victorinox on their keychain, and Opinel in their lunch bags.

      Hey Mary, thanks for your input here. I certainly don't have many women participating in the channel but I know you are out there somewhere! Women have to cut things too! lol Thanks very much for watching and Happy New Year to you :)

    Wow, some great looking traditional knives. I’m still haven’t made the jump. 😂 I tell what knife I like the most from your collection. That large trapper with the beaver shield. I really dig the shield parts of traditional knives. Second runner up is the wood micarta second from the right. I like the big traditionals.

    The answer to what you liked best ended with the first GEC trapper for my guess. Your collection of them alone likely cost more than all the others put together. The blade on the largest one is often used on Moose pattern slip joints. It makes a better skinning blade than the spay blade does. However; more often than not carrying a smaller version of both the Trapper and Stockman is more pocket friendly than pocket carrying a full size one. The full size models carry better in a hunting or winter coat pocket than in a pants pocket. You have a nice collection of both patterns and I, would say you probably like both about the same.

    Nice collection! I think I'm more of a Stockman guy because I have more than a dozen of them, and only one (singlebladed) Trapper😳 I really like having the sheepsfoot for 'utility' and the clippoint for 'foodprep' and then the speyblade for the occasional delicate task like cutting away bandaids🤨 I do like the look of a Trapper but I never really got the point of having the long speyblade? That Jumbo from Marbles is very interesting tho😎 And your GEC's are awesome👍

    I am in good company! I am a trapper guy too. It’s funny because I thought I would not be a fan of them. I thought that they were too big but I started carrying and using them and they are the single biggest part of my collection. I at this time only one stockman but I just ordered another. So, trappers for the win. You have a very nice collection going. Thanks for showing me some knives I had not looked at before. I love your GEC knives. They are still a someday knife for me. Great video!

      Another Trapper guy! 👍
      In my early collecting days I avoided Case Knives like the plague. I wasn’t into traditionals yet and they did not appeal to me. One day something changed, and am I ever glad it did! Thanks for the comment RJ, and have a great Sunday 👍🤙

    Nice collection. I carry a case trapper daily. The only thing I don't like about it is it isn't a lock blade knife. I haven't cut myself yet but I've had some close calls. I use it to clean deer, squirrels and small fish. I also use it at work.

    I do like the blade variant trappers. The Case mini-Trapper with the Warncliff blade is a favorite that I'd love to find a full sized equivalent. Those sweeping skinner blades look great too.

    • @theedcden5515
      @theedcden5515  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. I had a Case Mini Trapper with the Warcliffe blade. I think it was in bone stag. But I had to send it back because both blades had way too much wiggle. I loved it otherwise.

  • @imahiredhand

    Very nice collection of knives. I thought I heard you describe one of the case knives as having a “Hot Dog” emblem. If I might be so bold as to note this shield has also been referred to as a “Bow Tie “ shield. This shield was used during the Case Tested era and most commonly seen on “green bone” knives. With a few winding up on the red bone knives. Case used several types of shields and it is nice to see them making a come back.
    And keep up the collecting as you seem to have an “eye” for quality.

    • @theedcden5515
      @theedcden5515  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for the great comment! Bow Tie shield - got it, thanks 👍🤙

  • @daninmi1648
    @daninmi1648 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That beaver shield is too cool! I'd like to get ahold of a GEC, but without having extreme good luck or paying flippers' prices. Currently I'm deciding which Case (X)318 I'm gonna buy next...and which traditional pattern I'll buy along with it. Not an easy decision to make!

    Tony Bose went overboard on the swedges. The back edge of that sheepfoot is so sharp the knife is painful to hold.

    • @theedcden5515
      @theedcden5515  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting! I’ve noticed that issue on other brands but not with Case/Bose. Then again, I’ve only used mine gently. I’ll have to check that out on mine. Thanks for the comment 👍🤙
