Wood love a video on how to connect and set it up. I am a single woman and I am not exactly a very good handy person. I do have an outlet right underneath my electrical panel and I did the math to figure out what size I would need. Just one person living in my house, so a video taking us through it step-by-step, so that I could do it myself would be very helpful for people that are not very handy. I don't necessarily need to call Electrician because I already have the plug from the previous owner.

      Do you have an interlock on your service panel to prevent backfeeding? Or a transfer switch? If not you will;
1.Possibly electrocute a lineman working on the poles
      2. Instantly burn up your gebnerator
      3. Invalidate your fire insurance on your home due to electrical code violations?
You need to check with a qualified electrician before you do anything else.

Great information. I have a problem with my unit popping the main breaker.

Can you clarify what you mean by main breaker popping?
To the gentleman that posted this video….it’s a nice portable and a nice setup. It looks like it will work for what you need.
However, everyone needs to remember that the 50A plug that is used will limit the amps you can run. If you have AC units that run on a 30A, you will be severely limited in what else you might run.
My guess is these Mitsubishi mini splits will likely limit what else can run: the home heat distribution is (at worst) probably pulling 10A.. amps and volt amps are both important when it comes to power.
Also, I’m not sure, but I believe the app you showed is related to the solar equipment you have. Please remember volt amps are a measure of power used while watts measure power produced. You always have to have a watt or kilowatt number greater than the va or kva.
You are fortunate you can live comfortably with a 9000w unit!
One final thing…if you couldn’t tell I’m in the generator business. If you decide to go with a standby….go Cummins, Kohler, or Briggs and Stratton. While the Generac might be 100-200 dollars cheaper to buy and install….you will pay an order of magnitude more for repairs on that Generac over the life of the unit (which will also be shorter)

@@BrianD-ds4dxI love how the standby generator guys always find some way to downplay portables for whole house backup. You know that if more people understood that a portable could do 90% of what a standby could do, your business would be strictly a small percentage of home owners ie the elderly who can’t handle a large portable, the affluent and commercial accounts . Very small demographics. I understand though and encourage standby companies to join the portable market before it’s too late !!!

@@brucewilliams2382 go ahead and ask the folks in the Houston market how well the portables worked.
Or the people that died from their misuse

Helpful video, thanks! I need to get that app. PS, i don't know if you needed that transfer switch...unless you want to pay $18,000+ for one of those Duromax whole-home things. Yes I've gotten two estimates. No thanks. They look cool, but look for a pic of one where the cover is lifted off. It's basically a generator like this Duromax with some padding on the sides of the enclosure. Ripoff!

Full Synthetic oil would be OK once the generator engine is broke in. I wouldn’t recommend full synthetic the first year of operation or till at least 2,3 oil changes!

Wait why is that? I’m about to fire mine up for the first time and this is exactly what I was curious about-what kind of oil should I use and what’s the logic behind it?

Why would I buy this piece of crap generator? I know Naomi Stephens thinks it is a good generator.

    • @jaybdvm

They are ALL Chinese "crap" generators. Honda maybe the exception, though even Honda now has many people complaining, Honda cost is prohibitive to most of us. Good customer service is most important.

@@jaybdvm I have two Hondas. Np problems yet. They are dependable and parts and service centers are ubiquitous.
