  • Athens is full of surprises, and the fabric district near Kalamiotou and Metropolis Streets is no exception. Nestled in the heart of the city's historical downtown, this vibrant area offers an array of fabric shops.
    *Plan Your Visit:*
Keep in mind that the shops are closed on Sundays, so plan your visit during the week. With so many colors, styles, prices, and fabric qualities available, it's easy to spend an entire day browsing through the stores. For those short on time or suitcase space, like I was, you may need to be selective in your purchases. I managed to pick up two stunning pieces of fabric, and I can’t wait to share more about them in my upcoming fabric haul-stay tuned!
    *What to Expect:*
One of the best parts of shopping in Athens' fabric district is the thrill of discovery. Many stores may look small from the outside but open up into much larger spaces once you're inside, packed with fabrics of every imaginable kind. Whether you're searching for something specific or simply exploring, you’ll be amazed by the selection.
    *Getting Around:*
Navigating Athens is a breeze. While we did most of our exploring on foot, Uber is a convenient and affordable option, with most rides costing just a few euros.
Whether you're a fabric lover like me or just passing through, make sure to carve out some time to experience the unique charm of Athens' fabric district!

Girl I'm from Baltimore MD and I wish I had one of those fabric stores near me. The only store I shop at is Joann's and online. Enjoy yourself and thank you for sharing.

@@JarmondDebbie, I am too. This is so true. It’s almost like the fabric stores really don’t exist anymore! 😞 I remember visiting a row of fabric stores like that in Philadelphia, PA. I think it was called Fabric Row but I’m not sure if they still exist either. 🤦‍♀️
