They Live is an AMAZING movie that you should watch now if you have not. It's one of our favorite movies and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was fantastic. He really help pave the way for future pro-wrestlers to get into acting. The grade at the end of this fight scene does not represent how entertaining the fight is, just how likely these moves will happen in a modern day alley fight. With that being said, let us know what you think about They Live!
I always love how you guys will point out when something wouldn't work in real life or wouldn't be the best option, but still acknowledge why it would be that way, whether because it looks better on camera, or because super powers are involved!
I've seen dozens of comments requesting this fight analysis, so I'm psyched to see this notification. I also love They Live, so this video has me excited for multiple reasons. Thanks, guys! Keep up the amazing work.
Hope you enjoyed it! Make sure to share with your friends so we can release more long form content. Let us know which fight scene we should breakdown next.
Excellent breakdown as always, guys! The shorts are great, but I always love digging into these long-form videos. Also appreciate Logan bringing the nostalgia and reminding me of CRIIIPLE FIIIIIIIGHT 👊🏼
I did the sag take down in a street fight without knowing it. I wish I would've known about the technique back then. But everyone of these breakdowns are amazing and the details they go into is incredible
Even when some stuff is obvious, even to a non-fighter like me, you guys do such a good job of explaining things, I loved it. And even though this wasn't a fantastic fight, any movie lover remembers this scene (and the bubblegum one) from this movie, so it was a great pick!
Whoohoo! I’ve been waiting for this ever since I found out about movie fight commentaries on TH-cam. The grade is fair but the scene provides a gut Oomph! that most modern scenes don’t attain. Thanks for the great video!
I've seen the movie once and will probably re-watch it some day. It's interesting, funny and has a meaningful plot, which is rare nowadays. And the fight scene is hilarious. I get the grade you gave it from an efficiency point of view, but as a fight between two regular construction workers, it's a solid A :)
Thanks a ton! Make sure to share our They Live breakdown with your friends and let us know which fight scene we should breakdown next! We really appreciate you!
@@ScenicFights i will, definitely your work is share-worthy ;) And I know that Kengan Ashura was on your channel more then one or two times but i'd like see more from that serie, there's a lot of great fights Maybe Raian Kure vs Mokichi Robinson? Or Sekibayashi vs Kiozan Takeru? I thinks that's a lot of good material here ;)
Agree! It’s such a fun movie and we’re happy to read that you enjoyed our They Live fight scene breakdown! Share it with your friends and let us know which other fight scene we should breakdown next!
I love how much they hug each other. They must be the best of friends. These are fun and interesting videos to watch. Hope 2023 is a great year for you two and the channel.
As cinema, I'd argue that this fight scene is one of the best of all time. There will probably never be a better example of using pro-wrestling tropes to advance the narrative. That having been said, C- seems plenty fair graded for realism.
Love this breakdown! Thank you for this as I've been waiting forever for this. I've always love this fight scene and give it B+, maybe A-, because it felt so real. Piper and Keith gave it their all!
Very happy to read you enjoyed this breakdown. It’s def an A+ in entertainment. If you want more of these longer breakdowns, make sure to share with your friends and get them to subscribe!
You know it's funny when I watch this movie for the first time in the 90s back then I was calling out things. But you both did a great job breaking down the moves I didn't see back then or some newer useful maneuvers even now 👍🏻
Thank you for the awesome comment! We are working hard on our Patreon or TH-cam membership. Iam so happy to see these brother in a long form video breakdown after a long time right absolutely kudos this channel 👏 just excellent brothers as always and iam waiting for big brother 2018 and unbeatable 2013 mma movie also please check that also brother
You guys are awesome and I always look forward to all your videos and I definitely loved this one! Would love to see a breakdown from Headshot or The Night Comes for Us. Keep it up!
Would love to see a breakdown of the locker fight scene in grosse pointe blank Such a realistic fight that doesn't get nearly the respect it deserves because it's in a romantic comedy
The thing i love with your technique breakdown of this fight is that they're simply normal and average guys. A lot of their punches and such have a lot of amateur mistakes to it that make them easier to dodge and parry. Adds to the everyman appearance of nada and frank Also, using the bottle as a thrusting weapon reminds me of the bottle death from pans labyrinth
Excellent breakdown as always. I do wonder how you guys would choreograph a fight scene but still maintain that dramatic flair that' can be absent in real fights. I'm no fighter, but even I'm aware that it can take just one punch to end things quick.
What’s up Allen! Glad to see you here again. We’ve been posting TH-cam Shorts regularly for breakdowns! Feel free to check them out. We’ll be posting more longer breakdowns too.
They Live is an amazing movie and one of John Carpenter’s best films! The stunt coordinator Jeff Imeda has a background in Jeet Kune Do (the martial art created by Bruce Lee) who choreographed this iconic fight scene. The more times I watch this fight, the more JKD influences I see with both actors. I’m glad I’m training in JKD for a year now and I got level 1 rank complete!
This was a great review. I really liked it. But then again, it's like all of your reviews in that regard (aside from the anime ones, which I don't want to watch :P )
Can you guys breakdown “One Shot” starring Scott Adkins? Chad and Pak would love the jiu Jitsu in the movie and I think Logan would enjoy the knife work!
This was great to see, guys! I’m a little sad that you didn’t mention Roddy Piper’s laugh when he smashed the window and Keith busted the bottle and didn’t have a weapon. Other than that, great breakdown! Stay awesome, guys! Also, what would be some good basic self-defense moves?
Roddy Piper’s laugh was certainly pretty wholesome and funny. As for self defense moves, we highly recommend a local gym! They can give you a thorough breakdown. If you’re in NYC, visit us at Paxibellum.
To me it is a perfect fight just because of how you see them get hurt, like it is real, dumb and so so so fun. Name a more fun fight. Keith head literally had skin scraped off it and he keep going like this fight is so fun
Thinking back on it, I think rhere might be a story reason why Roddy was going for some techniques that go against the idea of getting glasses on Keith It's a really stressful situation emotionally so he probably got kinda too involved in doing things like crotch punched or jead slams, which yeah would be fine in a wrestling match, but don't help here doesn't make them good tactical moves, but it fits with how the characters are overall more Human than a lot of action movie characters (or hell, Duke Nukem, whose design is inspired by Roddy)

The thing I liked was, it had the spectrum… over the top wrestling AND dirty street fighting (the only kind I know, lol)
One of my favorite movies too
THEY LIVE is on my top 10 movies of all time NOT because of the fight scene but because of its message which is still overwhelmingly relevant today.
I absolutely LOVE They Live. Such a good movie, and one of John Carpenter's most underrated movies.
I always love how you guys will point out when something wouldn't work in real life or wouldn't be the best option, but still acknowledge why it would be that way, whether because it looks better on camera, or because super powers are involved!
Love reading comments like this! Thank you so much for the constant support.
The thing I love about the fight is how raw and dirty it feels.
Half an hour of a fight breakdown? Count me in! It made my day!
Hope you guys had a good start to the new year!
And it’s not even our longest breakdown of the year! Glad to have you visiting. Stay tuned for more fight scene breakdown :)

I love that movie. Whenever I watch it, I watch it for Rowdy Roddy Piper. A legendary wrestler. R.I.P.🙏
R.I.P. to a legend
God I love when Chad explains mma moves he does it so well
I always loved this scene- the combination of exhaustion and obvious pain made it feel amazing.
Years on learning mma and I never know im supposed to look at the opponent's chest. Keep up the work ❤❤
I love the exhaustion from both actors in this scene. They both have to drag themselves up every time.

10:12 all of a sudden high pitch. Chad is being emotional when it comes to street style instinctive headlock
