I was praised as a tank during my leveling trip to 60. I always tried to watch out for my group and make sure I was controlling the fights. I studied the instances extensively before even trying them, and made sure I was geared before attempting tougher content. I was often asked to tank for multiple instances, etc. But once I hit 60, everything changed. You're expected to pull everything in the room, nonstop; you're expected to run through the content, despite the protests of the healer; and if you're not familiar with even one fight, or trash mob, people will try to kick you ... or they just start pulling mobs themselves, causing undue pressure on the healer and party wipes. Wtf is wrong with people? Tanking in WoW is a thankless job, made more frustrating by impatient leeches and ass-hats who only care about themselves. How are you supposed to learn anything in this game with pricks like that ruining the experience?
I'm a tank main in ff14. I just say "I haven't done this one before" and everyone is chill and let's me know mechanics. I've been playing wow for 3 months and I've been too scared to even try. 1 wipe or mistake, people start bitching or outright leave
ik im a bit late on this but another massive issue is ppl trying to emulate mdi runs while theyre pugging or they try to treat/act like theyre an mdi player those players are literally payed to be good at what they do and spend stupid amounts of hours building their synergies and routes the random +7 you found at 2 am are not those players. that whole mindset is why we dont have more tanks in the populus bc if a brand new person wants to be a tank they get ridiculed for not knowing the routes, im sorry but as a lifetime tank im not gonna do your stupid mdi route on +8 its a not that serious
this also happens with players that have 3k rio mains tanks/dps. They pull like everybody in the party has 3k rio and it leads to wipes. Perhaps a good opportunity to try tanking will be S4. 6 of out 8 dungeons need to be relearned again or anew. Some good folks will create routes in MDT
1:30 doesn't take a high IO player to say that even. Been like that since I started M+. Best thing to do with them is ignore em, try to get thru the key and support the grp and ignore/block people who have a shitty attitude. I've found a lot of people higher than 3.2k-3.3k in a lot of seasons get really sour about the SMALLEST things in a low key (low being like 14-18s). So I've stopped inviting them as they're just moody key-brickers.
I'm honestly so terrified to do things wrong an inconvenience people. People take things so seriously. Honestly, I'm sensitive. It feels like there's no space to learn, no way to practice. I think they need a way for new players to learn this stuff.
It admittedly gets a lot tougher the longer an expansion goes on and theres a lot of base community knowledge thats kinda(and wrongly) expected out of players.. Cause most wow players assume other wow palyers just no life the game as much as they do. Luckily theres a lot of coaching through communities where you can ask for help and such but you have to be proactive and ask for it. If you come by the discord theres a ton of help there for you :)
Yeah I used to play OG vanilla wow starting in 2004. I played for 10 years and did all the dungeons, classic 40 mans, TBC, WOTLK, Cata, all of it. Took a 9 year break and just getting back into it and man I feel so lost. And people are so impatient and don't give you time to relearn, or learn anew.
@@Bloodbain88 I’m in the same situation :/ I can see that guy started play on shadowlands but blames on me to learn my class and the game …. So what? First ask who i am and how old maybe
Bro what I started to do in dungeons as the tank was ask for lead and if they don't give it I'll just leave and they can wait 30 min to an hour or so to find another one. As the tank you are the lead of the dungeon or raid and they go at your pace. If your lead and someone gets toxic kick them from the instance. DPS and Healers are quick finds in que everyone is doing healing or dps and looking to que up while tanks are a rare gem to find. So that's what I've been doing to negate the bs and learn.
This is great! Definitely guilty of holding certain CDs, notably Shield Wall. Really need to study problem-packs in dungeons to be better prepared, so excited for your upcoming dungeon content.
My advice as a tank is to run the same dungeon at least 5 times before trying to move to the next dungeon. Also keep aggro with AOE attacks and keep an eye out for your teammates. If you see that a mob is focusing on them move over to the and attack that mob and use whatever attacks build aggro to the mob until it switches to you.
does mythic dungeon tools only work for mythic? im wanting to learn tank and im just starting on the opening, low level dungeons. want to know how to really get started..forget about mythic
So, how can one use warcraft logs as a tank or Details! ? How much uptime lets say a Prot War or Prot Pala should have on shield block/Sotr? And is there a tank class , that stand its ground and not having to kite to survive?
When I use details I judge how well I'm doing by the amount of damage taken, using your defensives better that number can always get lower. Shield block should have full uptime or your kiting(depending on the pack) and SotR should 100% be up or you shouldn't be in melee at that point.. Unfortunately in today's meta every tank has to kite once you hit a certain level key.. Some you just do it earlier, IE VDH, versus others you CNA facetank a lot longer, pally, bear and dk being pretty solid options there
Yo dude big fan this is Shane Hare I'm on my girls phone because my shit broke. But I was wondering why I never see you use "@cursor" macros for your sigils and for your Inf. Strike? Been watching you for a while and maybe I'm just not noticing but I wanted to know if there was a reason for it?
Great question, any ground effects i have keykind to my mouse wheel.. Its a little weird to get use to but it frees up a lot of other keybinds and since i need my mouse placed correctly anyway it works very synergistically for me
Wasn’t that way nearly in thc and wrath in the day. Because it had no dungeon finder and people talked to each other because if you where a jerk then people would not play with them. The killed community with LFG Automatic.
I appreciate your real and down to earth videos. I also am a tank main(with healer alts). Anyways, I've seen your vids pop enough and watched enough of them but this vid had finally convinced me to sub. Thanks bro!
as a lifetime tank main in every mmorpg. I would definitely. 100%. With certainty say: it is ok to be toxic and to yell and insult players, who performing bad. You go into pack where you need 3 kicks, and none of your dps does that - say "use kicks". If they still not using kicks - yell at them. Give them valid criticism of their action coupled with insults. It is not bad to do so. People learn MUCH better from their bad experience, than from good. When i went as a tank into dungeon, mechanics of which i dont know - i learn much better from my bad experience. "oh, i remember on this boss my team yelled at me for tanking add with the boss" and "on this pack my team yelled at me because i turned mob into them and killed healer and dps" and etc. If you are doing a high difficulty content - you should get gud. And when you not - be prepared for yelling. Of course dont call them stupid or noobs or retards without saying what they did wrong. But if you really getting offended by unknown person on the internet - you should limit your presence on the internet or seek medical attention, that is not normal
Regardless of what you want to say about being toxic--that's your deal, so I'm not commenting on that, however it may seem--it's actually FALSE to say that people learn from bad experiences more than good. They REMEMBER bad experiences--but they don' t learn from them. Pedagogy figured that out YEARS ago, which is part of why things like corporal punishment are no longer used (fortunately, people also realized that corporal punishment is immoral, as well as ineffective). Maybe try being nice or helpful as well as pointing out things ppl do wrong. BUT it's also NOT good to let people off without explaining what they did wrong. No one learns from that. So my advice is to maybe try what gets results, not what satisfies your emotional need to yell and put people down OR to make sure no one knows if they do wrong.
@@awdunc pedagogy figured that out for childrens. Which have different learning curve compared to adults, that no longer able to learn as fast as kids. For real! Toxic PUG in WOW makes it a shitty experience. I died on a boss in a PUG, as a DPS, and got kicked. hmm..
No wonder ppl says WoW is toxic. I just started and its really nt nice

Just decided to swap from healing to tanking. Your videos are helping a lot. Looking forward to your tips on individual dungeons.

Get to start that ksm grind again today in NA!
