I’ve used castor oil and it’s good. Rose water is the bomb too. I actually have a whole video of a rose water and oil braid out. You should check it out if you haven’t th-cam.com/video/eM44G3r0esU/w-d-xo.html . Good vibes on your loc journey!
Thank you for this video. I am nine months locd & 1 month into my semi free forming locs. I never liked how getting retwist made my hair look. I love the fullness of locs. My hair already fine too so idc to retwist often.
@@GoldenNapptural I went 1 year without retwist are interlock my hair it came a point I felt I needed to interlock It listen to your hair for me doing my hair once a year is all I need follow your heart and do what's best for you and your hair combine those babies
Yay!! I called myself semi free form with small locs didn’t even know if that was a “thing”. I’m glad I found someone similar to me. I love the messy look and my hair grows so much when I just let grow. I let my friend interlock my hair (I gave her tips but she used so much bees wax, I only use water, oil & a bit of wax if needed) and she did it so tight, they were so heavy and now my head itches.. I also asked my cousin to help me finish putting in my two strands (with tips to go off the ones I already put in) some were way too big for my liking. So I’ve decided I’ll only be doing my hair just as I always did my loose natural hair.
Yep! It’s all about the foundation. I started off with micro Locs and interlocking. I’m type 4C with THICK hair.. and my roots started thinning... so I stopped interlocking and now I’m actually working on my scalp and thinking to retwist when I feel is safe to do so. This is the BEST advice I’ve received since locing my hair last year ! 😩THANK YOU! 🖤
Thanks for this segment- I have smaller locs but plan on continuing to free form. I don’t really see smaller free(semi) form dreads out there -- so thank you thank you !!!!!
Probably the best intro to a video and channel’s overall concept, intentions, and direction I’ve ever seen - immediate new subbie 😊 Looking forward to watching your channel!
I'm just listening to my locs. I'm 6 months locked & only want to retwist every few months. I definitely deep condition, moisturize often & wash weekly. I don't style nor intend to do often. My locs do as they like, the more frizz, the more love shows. I keep down the webbing in my roots because I need to get my scalp.
Your hair is so pretty. I have 4c fine hair too. 3yrs loc’d. I struggle with moisture too but not since using rose water with vitamin e oil. I use the pure e oil but not too much because it’s thick as hell. Lol. But it gives me the moisture I need. I use it daily. And before I put oil on my roots. Try it out. Yannie the locologist recommended it and I love it and her channel. She’s all about hair care.
I appreciate the compliment 😊. I actually have checked out her channel quite a bit. She is really knowledgeable. I’m still playing around with my moisture routine. I will look into what you suggested. Thank you for watching.✨
I use rosewater to moisturize, sometimes I use aloe vera juice. I add about a tsp of herb infused oil to the mix. I don't like a lot of oil on the length of my locs because I don't like oily moisture. I've added silk peptide/silk protein powder to rosewater because it increases the moisturization level greatly. There's a video on yt about it. I also don't condition anymore. I use to, straight out the bottle...very bad idea. The only time I used conditioner now is after I've used henna/indigo or bentonite clay/coconut vinegar BUT I dilute it big time, like 1 tbsp to 16oz of water.
Wow, I need to take some notes from you lol. A couple of months after this video, I thought I’d found my moisture solution via manufactured aloe Vera oil, but found out that was a no-go.. and i don’t have the patience for natural aloe. Ima look into some of what you suggested though. Thanks for watching!✨
@@ChristandLocs NP, I've subscribed. I like your content, I'm a Yannie person so once I hear someone talks locs health I'm in. I bought the aloe juice at walmart. I still use the natural aloe on my face mostly. I use it on my scalp too when I feel like making it. I blend it with the aloe juice instead of water and strain it like crazy. I freeze it so I don't have to keep making it. Aloe heals my scalp, so I swear by it. I'm going to be trying back rice water and aloe soon, I'm fermenting the black rice and pomelo peel right now. My locs are similar to yours and I rarely twist. I want my roots to thicken up so I do root building (pulling new growth into existing locs, especially the thin ones). Then I focus on creating new locs with the rest of new growth, once I'm satisfied with the root size/strength.
@@ChristandLocs you should make your own aloe oil, just get the powder and infuse it into an oil you like. I love baobab, it's pricey but it absorbs almost instantly with no greasy feeling. I do most infusions in fractionated coconut oil (learned from a veteran youtuber Gabriel, she still has some of the best diys).
Beautiful Locs Sis your Locs look lusciously thick to me! 👌🏾❤️. I don’t use conditioner either my conditioner is Aloe Vera Juice it’s the best! For me. Thanks for the video. Your locs are lovely. I took my locs out of corn rows after 6 weeks and noticed thin roots in the last row of back of head. I plan to wear them out now but am wondering if I can thicken those roots.
No problem. If you, installed them tightly at the roots that COULD be the reason...idk. I definitely think with less manipulation and using the other tips in the video over time will help you out. I plan to make more videos about stimulating new growth. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video. I have been going to a loctician for 2.5 years and am just now starting semi-freeforming and maintaining my locs by myself. I have thinner locs and was wondering how many locs you have? I have 144 now, I combined 2 about 6 months ago. Thanks for the tips!
You’re welcome. You and I have a little less than the same amount of Locs you do. I talk more about my loc count and related info in this video, if you want to check it out. th-cam.com/video/vcUTRcPEdTg/w-d-xo.html God bless your continued DIY loc journey! Thanks for watching!
The less you retwist the stronger the locs will be ? Is that true ??? I had a loc that stopped at my hip it took four years to get that long and 3 inches broke off at the end ... I don’t know why maybe not enough hydration what’s your thoughts ?
...depends on your hair maintenance habits. I know that OVER retwisting can lead to thinning...however going way too long without retwisting (depending on texture/hair maintenance habits/products/etc) can lead to roots thinning out too.. I’m not sure how/if that would affect the loc shafts. Our new growth and the point where the new growth meets the loc shaft are “weaker” than the loc shaft itself. Prolonged dry locs do have a tendency to get weak because of dehydration, so it’s important to find a way to keep add and maintain loc moisture. I experienced a few of my loc tips just falling off about a year ago. Some people said it was “bad energy” just falling away... I just think it was dead ends. I talk about it more here: th-cam.com/video/X0xXvvTgfp0/w-d-xo.html #thanksforwatching
Tania Locs and Life no I noticed some of my unlock’d hair will grow out of the locs. Meaning some strands of loose hair. (I made a typo in the first post lol) but I also have thicker sized locs
Oh ok i understand. I do have a patch in my crown where the hair has grown out the locs...but I just add that back in to my locs when I do my quarterly interlocking . Even with that, I believe the benefits out stretching my retightening still outweigh the risk of more frequent retightening.
Hi I'm not sure if my last question imspired this video but it answered my questions perfectly!! My locs are about the size of yours. I was looking at that loc jewerly in the store and wondered if those were too small to fit but they just may work! Thanks for the video!
I use rose water and vitamin E , retwist annually and wash my locs once a month. Hot oil treatment as needed.
Tip if you do daily Scalp massage 10 mins no oil treatment needed ... And daily Scalp massage helps with dry locs naturally
