This show scared the crap out of me as a kid, and still scares me as an adult. When that Melody started playing at the beginning of the video of the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. This show has thoroughly changed my political, theological and economical views for the rest of my life.
I have always loved scooby doo but mystery inc was my favorite and I watched it so often I loved that it had an actual reason and plot to why Crystal Cove is the way it is. It was just... idk what is was. It was oddly haunting and the idea, if you take it away from the goofy antics if the show, the main plot straight forward sounds like something that could've easily been some sort of psychological horor
I recall that early on in this show, I found myself actually feeling scared for the protagonists. Normally I am confident that the Scooby Gang can get through anything thrown their way even if the monsters are real. This time however, I had the strange feeling that there would be far worst consequences than being chased by someone in a costume and mask.
@@jamesvach6698 it was insane. Especially the end of season 1 where they went against the freak of crystal cove. Like that guy finished the former mistery inc, was also forshadowed and it felt like there was a real chance of the gang not solving the mistery. And they actually lost at the end.
@@andreiselaru4374 Agreed, which is why I was both surprised and happy that Scooby promised that things would eventually turn around. Scooby generally doesn't go towards danger unless he has to, for him to promise to go after Pericles really shows how much he got under Scooby's skin. I suppose it wasn't too much of a surprise in hindsight that the mayor was the Freak, although it was a surprise that the Sherrif wasn't in on that plot. Although I suppose it makes sense, he didn't want anyone to know what he was doing which probably slowed him down somewhat. The only reason the Mayor got the disk piece he had was because the previous Mystery Inc found it, and Pericles helped to betray them. Still, I suppose that episode only served as a sort of appetizer for what was to come. In the episode where they went to Darrow Manor and got the disk piece from Danny, it really struck me just how dangerous things were getting. Especially when they questioned whether he saved them, or they saved him from something worse.
Mystery incorporated series had a story and it tells about a dark secret about their home town and a secret about Mystery incorporated and it's legacy. There were other Mystery solving groups before them and they left their legacies in history which lead to Mystery Inc. They all have in common.
Do like that while the other groups were similar, they weren't all carbon copies of the Scooby gang. Similar enough to be able to place each equivalent member to their current one, but different enough to be their own characters.
I loved this show, even as a high schooler. It was cool to see an adaptation that was not for 4 year olds and actually made you think about what was happening. It was really cool while it lasted.
I think I remember the episode with that family in the sunken mansion. The boy was still alive, looked like a zombie and built all kinds of traps in his home, not having noticed how much time had passed. He gave the gang his part of the disk before most likely dying when the mansion fully collapsed.
It might happen they have been asked alot to make s3 by warner bros and they r thinking wbt it they might when they have time as their schedule is filled for now
@@CG-sf1uw no, there was another case where a parrot was used in some kind of weapons transport I think? I don’t remember the specifics but I know murder, a parrot, a gun or something was involved.
Pericles had human level intelligence and could communicate with others, and to be fair the people in there must be paranoid as hell because of the curse, so they just blamed the bird and called it a day
Good video breakdown. One person overlooked is that is in the episode Night on Haunted Mountain, while it does not directly show this, there are some hints that the woman on the mountain, Boron, might be the ghost of one of the members of the Mystery Gang (the cowgirls). The freckled member, Carley. She had is the same color hair, just shorter, and she is a middle-age woman, show she put on a little weight. Boron appears and disappears while the gang is not looking. Her explanation is clearly a lie. She might have actually found the ship, only to not survive the traps inside. Given another ghost was shown at the end of the episode, it is possible.
I honestly forgot how in-depth this show was, all the layers falling into place as you near the end of the show, love it. Definitely going to go re-watch it when I get the time. I look forward to part two!
Not only did Mystery Inc enrich the already amazing Scooby Doo universe by fleshing out the characters, making them more realistic and with their own personalities, goals and agendas, but it also added a superb layer of mystery and lovecraftian horror to the mix. Every episode felt like a piece to a grand puzzle, a puzzle you unlocked together with the characters, a crew that not only dealt with the mysteries but their own teenage years and the confusion/insecurities that entailed but also family drama and love lives. It reminded me a lot of Stranger Things/Pennywise. This is how you make a passion project, a labor of love, this is truly a show written by someone who loves and understands the Scooby Doo universe, unlike Velma. Velma failed even in its own and only goal, trying to make white people look bad, because they made everyone unlikable. Mystery Inc schooled once again the media on how you make a strong and awesome black character with Angel Dynamite, a character with a mysterious yet incredible backstory that was another piece of the puzzle.
You lost me at saying Velma's goal was to make white people look bad. Are you triggered or something? Also, I like Angel myself but at the beginning she was one step away from being a black caricature.
Angel dying is one of the saddest things I've ever saw. She risked it all for those kids and had no regrets. I think she knew those kids actually cared for each other and was willing to die to prove it.
@John Smith There wasn't a cliff hanger- the Crystal Cove story was the main story, the story ended and Scooby and the gang just continues what they do best, solving other mysteries. Which wrapped up nicely for an ending
It's funny that when you really stop and think about it...this means that all the mysteries that the Scooby gang solved throughout various series were all manipulated by the evil entity this whole time and that all the monsters they've unmasked were in some way under it's influence 😅🤯 12:47
No, because Mystery Inc serves as prequel to all series featuring random mysteries. Granted, all the villains in Mystery Inc were likely manipulated by the Evil Entity
@@Spido68_the_spectator Exactly. At the very end of Mystery Incorporated they end up creating a new timeline that is implied to be the original "Where Are You?" show. (The laugh track even kicks in.)
@@K4rm4ttackThen Charlie the Funland Robot, Space Kook and The Creeper would be in that alternative timeline too? They were in the first season after they were caught.
I just realized that since Fred's real parents were evil I just assumed they actually abandoned him and that Fred Jones Sr kidnapping him was a lie? Like I just convinced myself of that for years😭
@maxx!! Well the story was initially when Jones kicked them out as the Creeper, Brad and Judy returned to Crystal Cove as a married couple. So Jones had to force them to leave again, this time he takes their son away from them.
They really went all in with this incarnation of the mystery gang. The idea of how there were previous mystery solvers, consisting of four humans and one talking animal, was excellent. Plus with how it was a curse that brought them together, which leads to question if any of them would've been friends or was it from the curse of crystal cove?
this is easily the best scooby doo series, its not only got darker themes but its so well thought of. It goes so deep into lore but in a way that makes sense, it never loses itself and the story telling is just perfect.
Such a shame this series didn't get a spin off or continuation, I mean it did hint at that at the end. With a professor who somehow RETAINED their memories from the previous timeline inviting the gang to the university he worked at. Could have been an interesting show, instead of the dungheap series known as Velma. Seriously if you told me that show was written by Scrappy Doo to discredit the original gang.. I would... BELIEVE that 100%
Honestly out of the entire scooby doo franchise, this particular series was probably one of the most well-written and is one of the very rare few shows that perfectly balanced the show appeal to both the youth (through goofy interactions and character designs) and the older audience (mysteries and references along with a LOT of dark moments that children could easily overlook).
Such a fun series. I like to think this show REALLY added some weight to the Scooby Doo mythos, and it did things that stuck, like making Fred more airheaded and passionate about traps. This was all super concise and informative. Nice work!
For the longest time, I thought the Mystery Fellowship didn't have an animal sidekick like the others. Looks like they have a cat, but it never gets mentioned or plays a role in the family's disappearance.
Unlike the other Scooby doo series, which had random people running around in monster costumes just scaring people, this one has more plot, and the villains were actually hurting people giving the mystery gang reasons to stop the villains.
I like to think that there souls have been bound to the curse of Crystal cove and they are destined to come there every life to try to destroy what they could not destroy in there first life !!!
Mystery Inc. Was an actual mature rated Scooby Doo series. Emotions and choices felt real Had its times when it got real People legit DIED in the show. (R.I.P. Hotdog Water.) Then there was the fact the four dealt with real problems outside of solving mysteries such as college, romance, and even emotional baggage. To say it's the perfect scooby doo show is a bit much. But it's really close.
The darkest scooby show I mean fred being kidnapped and his birth parents having his life held over there heads if they returned a curse that's has killed an entire Spanish conquistador ship and many different groups of mystery solver's and the concept of the different backstorys most of them being led to crystal cove for the treasure is honestly such an amazing bit of story telling and the fact that the whole gang could only be friends because the curse drives 4 teens and an animal together to help release it amazing need another show like this one
There is a Mystery Incorporated fanfiction called Disk Mania. It is a really good story where it explains the full details about what really happened to every mystery solving group that came before.

This show scared the crap out of me as a kid, and still scares me as an adult. When that Melody started playing at the beginning of the video of the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. This show has thoroughly changed my political, theological and economical views for the rest of my life.
I have always loved scooby doo but mystery inc was my favorite and I watched it so often
I loved that it had an actual reason and plot to why Crystal Cove is the way it is.
@@SalinaMoonfall that's right. they solve mysteries
About time wished season 3 of mystery incorporated happened
Samee this show is so slept on ppl think it’s just another “kid” show but this can appeal to literally anyone
It might happen they have been asked alot to make s3 by warner bros and they r thinking wbt it they might when they have time as their schedule is filled for now
I always season 3 was all the other Scooby Doo episodes. He asks them to travel to him and they are but keep getting into bother with other things
@@amaan7193 when did they say that? Omg
@@taitasitoomalatai6287 i would argue it can actually be too scary for some kids
He framed a bird for murder and then the police arrested the bird?
Fun fact: a similar event happened in real life, causing the bird, parrot in the specific event I’m thinking of, to go into witness protection.
@@vincentlucario5450 Are you talking about the parrot that was mimicking the owners death?
@@CG-sf1uw no, there was another case where a parrot was used in some kind of weapons transport I think? I don’t remember the specifics but I know murder, a parrot, a gun or something was involved.
Pericles had human level intelligence and could communicate with others, and to be fair the people in there must be paranoid as hell because of the curse, so they just blamed the bird and called it a day
@@ivanalves8506 And technically, Pericles was a co conspirator of what happened and can be argued that it was his plan.
Boron was the only thing not looked at again and I also caught that! Nice
Hatecraftian Horror*.
Hope there's another season coming bc I loved this show so much when I was young
I don’t think so
Nah, the show has a full ending and the Curse of Crystal Cove arc story has ended and everything wrapped up nicely
@@one-upfilmz6649 season two was after they solved crystal cove and was left with a cliff hanger
@@orderflowarchives Theres no cliff hanger
@John Smith There wasn't a cliff hanger- the Crystal Cove story was the main story, the story ended and Scooby and the gang just continues what they do best, solving other mysteries. Which wrapped up nicely for an ending
Remember, we went from this to Velma. Never forgive, never forget
@@Spido68_the_spectator that'd make sense considering the fact some of the costumed people were able to do some superhuman shit
I just realized that since Fred's real parents were evil I just assumed they actually abandoned him and that Fred Jones Sr kidnapping him was a lie? Like I just convinced myself of that for years😭
Not really evil...
Remember that their good sides had been prison by that entity...
@@paradisegameplay...2840 yea I could've worded it better lol, but you get what I meant😭
@maxx!! Well the story was initially when Jones kicked them out as the Creeper, Brad and Judy returned to Crystal Cove as a married couple. So Jones had to force them to leave again, this time he takes their son away from them.
@@paradisegameplay...2840 they was still evil
@@memecliparchives2254 Freak, not Creeper. Carswell was the Creeper.
They really went all in with this incarnation of the mystery gang. The idea of how there were previous mystery solvers, consisting of four humans and one talking animal, was excellent. Plus with how it was a curse that brought them together, which leads to question if any of them would've been friends or was it from the curse of crystal cove?
The REAL mystery is how we got from this to Velma?
this is easily the best scooby doo series, its not only got darker themes but its so well thought of.
I would... BELIEVE that 100%
This show perfectly combined an overarching narrative plot with "villain of the week" style episodes in between.
Mastapeece
Looks like they have a cat, but it never gets mentioned or plays a role in the family's disappearance.
basically this is why i like Mystery incorporated, because it wasn't just episodic it had a plot and a really good one at that
Watching this now in response to the most recent attempt at a Scooby Doo show honestly. Its nice to remember something far, far better.
"You can call me Mr. E. You should never have brought that locket out of the cave. You don't know what you've uncovered."
0:01 Oh my god that ringtone is so nostalgic to me.
Fr best times back then
Unlike the other Scooby doo series, which had random people running around in monster costumes just scaring people, this one has more plot, and the villains were actually hurting people giving the mystery gang reasons to stop the villains.
Actually 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo also did this
I like to think that there souls have been bound to the curse of Crystal cove and they are destined to come there every life to try to destroy what they could not destroy in there first life !!!
Like the reincarnate to finish what they couldn't end...
@@paradisegameplay...2840 exactly !
Mystery Inc. Was an actual mature rated Scooby Doo series.
Emotions and choices felt real
Had its times when it got real
People legit DIED in the show. (R.I.P. Hotdog Water.)
Then there was the fact the four dealt with real problems outside of solving mysteries such as college, romance, and even emotional baggage.
To say it's the perfect scooby doo show is a bit much. But it's really close.
actually the new Velma is*
We truly deserved a final season. This was one of the best renditions of the Scooby Doo franchise!!
Agreed.
Very well made, you can definitely see the care you put into this
There is a Mystery Incorporated fanfiction called Disk Mania. It is a really good story where it explains the full details about what really happened to every mystery solving group that came before.
One of the best dark stories in any children show in my life
it was awesome.
@@Endgame707 Dark, but awesome. You’re right.
@@Yoshino-ml8tt heck yeah I loved this show growing up

The sudden urge to make a spin of version just to make a lot of people happy we need a season 3
Imagine, your a judge in a court and your told that the next person is a bird, and is being labeled guilty of the disappearances of 4 kids, a bird, a damn bird!
There was an entire prison for evil/insane animals in that show. The judge wouldn't be surprised.
A talking sapient bird
well Scooby can talk and is sentient so i guess it makes sense.
Excellently made video, I remember watching this show chronologically as the episodes were aired on TV as a kid but only half understanding what was happening so thanks for this!
By God, this show was incredible. I remembered how hooked I was on every episode, with the overall mystery and the curse being so captivating.
I’ve seen a few episodes of the older Scooby doo shows but the mystery inc show was the best one to be honest such good plot twists and stories and how it was all connected in the end like it wasn’t just small mysteries every day but it was an actual gigantic mystery that ended up having everything connected and sure there was a few throw away mysteries that only lasted one or two episodes but the fact that there was a giant plot the hole time was unbelievable and this show is the best Scooby doo show ever
Its been like four years since the series ended, and with the new Verma show coming out, I think some nostalgia for one of the best Scooby-Doos is nice, so thank you very much for the video
It ended almost 10 years ago
@@harleyquinn8D that’s what I’m saying lol
And Ik you said this eight days ago but Velma sucks…
Literally the best of all scooby-doos and we rocked them all. Literally them all.
Just cancel velma and give this show a Season 3
The fact that the events of this show was an origin for the story we all know and love was awesome
Wow! I remember binging this show in recent years and the story and lore were so fascinating, and now I’m reminded of how amazing and intricately detailed it all was!
TH-cam knows how much I love this series, lol... Has always been my favorite series ever since I was a kid, and I love just how fleshed out the story is compared to the others.
This show felt like a horror series and it was really good change from classic scooby doo and made it more entertaining and ima be honest I used to be scared of this show as a kid
Ironically, the reason why I gravitated towards gravity falls (pun intended) was because it reminded me so much of mystery incorporated (not the other way around) because I loved this show so so so much and I thought I was the only one who did. I think this show was the reason why I love shows that have mysteries, that’s why I immediately fell in love with gravity falls the moment I heard about the show and the more I watched it.
You won’t believe how much times I have rewatched this show and it still holds up even to this day
This was scary as hell at certain point cause it really talks about spirituality and mysticism...😥
Hold it.
Scooby Doo...IS AN ANUNAKI!?!?
This is beyond brilliant.
I didn't watch a lot of Scooby doo as a kid, but this just got me interested in this particular incarnation of the show
it's worth the watch.
Finally there’s a timeline video for mystery incorporated
I love this series because of the scheming and mystery I’m choking rn I’m scared since the music is so terrifying in this series, I dare say it’s the best Scooby-doo spin off
God I loved this show when I was younger 😭 this video makes me want to rewatch it
Im starting to wonder why my parents let me and my siblings watch something so dark. Like I had terrible nightmares about this. I decided to watch this video bc I didn't think I got far enough in the show to get all the lore but when I told my sister about this stuff she was like "ya. We watched the entire show together when we were kids like twice. You didn't know this stuff?" And I'm like 90% sure my brain made me forget bc of ✨trauma✨ lol
This video would make the most AMAZING book ever, with maps and diagrams, being formatted like a textbook that you’d find in school (headings, subheadings, “Did you Know’s?”, etc.) that I’d read un-ironically.
While I was sorry this series ended. they did a great job linking the original show to this one. It created a loop and you could ignore all the bad versions in-between.
The chokehold this show had on me as a kid was insane. Shout out to the people behind Mystery Inc. ❤
Also this melody 11:02 still gives me chills…
Loved the show, watched it over and over every opportunity I could.
But every flippin time, Professor Pericles gives me chills. Like that bird was build different and just gets more and more ingeniously deranged as the show progressed.
This has to be the best scooby-doo series ever made
The best Scooby-Doo to ever exist
This video made it seem like this was a real event irl lmao. I love it! Mystery Inc really was one of the best incarnations of Scooby-doo. It was ahead of its time.
idc if someone pointed out the show's cliche about the disappearance of a group of mystery solving teens and their talking pet, it is still the best scooby-doo retelling that adults could enjoy than whatever Mindy Keling's fan insert retelling abomination.
‘Scooby Doo Where are you?’ is a prequel to ‘Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated’ and ‘What’s New Scooby Doo?’ is a sequel to ‘Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated’.
Just my headcannon to the show
Scooby Doo Camp Scare is almost a direct movie tie in with Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, same VAs and same music composer
That's what I said
Everything about this series was amazing.
This thing was next level back in the day, you don't get shows like these days
Thank you so much. I think I've watched this serie 3 times but there were some things I never understood, like what Gatorville had to do with the mysterie. But then again, i could have watched over some stuff
The way you wrote this makes it sound like a real story
Great vid :D
Loved this show when I was little. And after rewatching, I realized just how amazing this show is.
Mystery Inc. is easily one of my favorite versions of Scooby Doo. Best animation in my opinion too
The beginning Mystery Inc. theme...I have it in my TH-cam music playlist lol. That makes me feel special.
i’ll never shut up about how disappointed i am in this show being canceled. i watched it with my dad as a kid in idk, 2013/2014 and i loved it so much. i’ve rewatched it countless times and i always wish there was more to it. it really deserved at least another season.
Mystery Inc is by far the best iteration of Scooby Doo. It had depth within its story and characters. Not to mention it’s perfect balance between having a darker story while still being able to have more lighthearted and comedic moments. It will be very difficult to top this show.
“And then he hid his ship on top of a mountain, where no one would be able to find it.”
Except for anyone who looked at that mountain, because it’s *right there!*

Imagine if Fred’s dad just curbstomped Pericles, would have saved the new mystery incorporated a whole lotta trouble without bird hitler around
I'm glad Scooby Doo and his gang were able to put an end to the curse. I cannot help but feel sorry about those who were victim to the curse.
This brings comfort. Especially with that new show out.
I love Mr. E’s theme so much
I loved this show growing up and I love the audio glitches it fits really well with the mystery theme
Mystery incorporated was if not the best scooby doo series
This really makes me want a show about the original mystery incorporated,
I wonder how thier dynamic was.
Thanks for sharing this recap of the curse, it was very interesting and it clearly highlights the reason for the curse that is plaguing Crystal Cove. When will you be releasing the second part? I would like to see the next video when it becomes available.
It’s out now :)
I used to watch this version everyday when I was a kid. Each episode left us on a cliffhanger and it made the show more and more interesting.
I didn't really watch this show seriously when I was a kid. But man, Fred's origin is quite dark...
Bro the music in the beginning hits DIFFERENT when your older.
