    All demo videos throughout the world should be forced to be done like this. I love the close up detail socket size and the fact that none of the steps are left out and are time lapsed. You win the internet.

    Hands down the best video for changing brake pads on a Nissan on the internet. I used this procedure on my 2012 Nissan Maxima and was done with both sides in under 20 minutes. Thanks for posting the video!

    Not only does this video teach you how to replace rear brakes, it also teaches people how to make a damn good youtube video.
    No obnoxious dubstep opening music. No dude yelling "HEEEEEEEY GUUUUUUUYS!!! IT'S YOUR BOY DIY-TIME BRINGING YOU A VIDEO ABOUT HOW TO CHANGE BRAKES. BUT BEFORE WE GET TO THAT I WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT SOME MERCHANDISE I HAVE FOR SALE!" No begging for likes and asking you to smash that subscribe button 15 seconds into the video before literally anything has happened.
    It's just a really good video showing you exactly how to do what you came here wanting to learn how to do.
    10/10 on clarity and execution. I liked and subbed b/c this is EXACTLY the kind of content I want.

    Thank you for this great video. I like the fact that you just showed us the process, without going into this history of auto making. I have to do the rear brakes on my DIL's car later today, and have not done rear brakes before. Someone said the rear are more complicated, but this video makes it look pretty easy. Thank you!

    4 things I want to add.
    1. Cap of Brake reservoir should be opened and some fluid removed so it won't spill out when you push in the piston.
    2. Use brake cleaner fluid to remove brake dust.
    3. Change the brackets which hold the pads, not necessarily but most kits come with new ones.
    4. Apply brake grease obviously the sides of pads that come in contact with the pistons or they might squeal, more so if you use long life or hard pads.

    • @louofm1
      @louofm1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take a few extra minutes to remove your caliper guide pins, clean and regrease them. It is important that they move easily, so the pads wear evenly. Also, when you torque down you caliper bolts and wheel lug nuts, use a torque wrench with the correct specs

    Hey guys, I am planning to buy used 2012 Nissan Altima. In the inspection report, the width of the rear brake pads came out to be 6mm. I just wanted to know do I have to get them replaced soon? Also, how much would it cost me (parts+labor work)? I am yet to learn driving in that car. Never driven before.
    Any sort of help will be appreciated. I don't know much about cars.

    • @DIYtime
      @DIYtime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brake pads should be changed around 3-4mm. Usually there are also brake pads wear indicators or sensors on modern cars that will warn you when its time to change the pads.

    The fact that you say this video is a acceptable form of education for DIYers is upsetting and majority disappointing. He did not even spray with brakekleen or mention mask is REQUIRED OR FATAL TO HEALTH IF BREATH IN ANY OF THE FUMES. Also that is not a service jack let alone are you ever supposed to use it to lift on side of vehicle or to hold vehicle weight WITH NOTHING TO STOP IT FROM ROLLING AND EXPECTING ONE JACK STAND WILL SAVE YOU IF IT EVEN WILL. Also no lubricant on metal siding of brake pads this video should be deleted period.
