    Though your humility may not allow you to think of yourself as AMAZING, Randy Pausch, you truly are a man of great passion, and you & your lovely family have touched the hearts of many people! Your outreach has indeed raised awareness. Please know that your brevity in this arena will have the kind of percussion that it needs to make a difference; YOU will make a difference! Thank you so much for using your talents to do so. Shari Olson

    God bless you Randy and your family. You are an angel in heaven. My father is battling pancreatic cancer and he fights everyday. I pray there is more research and a cure in the future. Its a terrible agressive disease.

    We all strive for purpose in our lives. To become an advocate for others while on your own deathbed demonstrates a level of personal character most will never know. Randy has forever impacted my life. Thank you Randy for making a difference in this world. May God bless your soul and your family.

    My father died of pancreatic cancer 4 months after his diagnosis. I am thankful for Dr. Pausch and the efforts he made to increase awareness of this disease. Research for this disease is significantly underfunded.

    The only difference between Randy and other "people" that just talk, comment...
    Is that he is doing something, now if that something works or not is different, but he is making a difference by doing "something"
    Randy you are so brave, and God bless your three babies and wife.

    His recurrence was September 07, and they gave him 3-6 months of health before a decline, and is now about 7 months... He is both fighting and living with the situation. What a lesson in bravery and humor.

  • @artliquide

    I agree that this kind of research is bigger than money, but the researchers need to feed their families as well. As a first world society, it should be a no-brainer that we fund such research. To ignore the problem would be uncivilized.

    He was hospitalized right before this video, and once since. They are treating congestive heart and liver problems with diuretics and blood pressure medicine put he's hanging in there (as of 4/27).
    This is from his website, which you can find by Googling "Randy Pausch".

    by the way I'm not Mexican , I am Colombian and I think some harsh comments were made about immigrates that should be apologized. Just think of Randys original lecture ;)
    The US is not the only country in the world, and you can see you need to pick up a couple of books (your firs two) to realize that.
    I really hope he gets the funding :s

  • @sewall74
    @sewall74 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you want to give to the pancreatic action network - where he has a fundraising page set up (for research, all of it) you can go to firstgiving dot calm forward slash randypausch
    I hope to see that fund grow and grow in honor of this man's memory and in hopes of helping others who don't even know they have pancreatic cancer yet!

    Chris79, although the content of the arguments presented by Hunkola and Danzigthe1 are ignorant and lack of content, I believe that politics are tightly related to this issue because it is politicians(unfortunately) who decide how our taxes get spent. I much rather cut the funding for the war(s) (Drug War, Terrorism War, Poverty War) and give it to researchers to cure cancer.

    If you guys didn't know, pancreatic cancer is the same cancer Patrick Swayze has been recently diagnosed with and its also the same cancer which killed Michael Landon less than 3 months after he was diagnosed back in the 80's.

    Wow talk about the wrong place for a political debate.
    Anyways, it'd be nice to think this video might inspire bright young minds to look beyond where the research dollars are and hit this disease head on.

    Reminiscent of Carl Sagan warning of global warming, human extinction, paid attention to, then put on a shelf to gather dust. I wear a ring crafted by a vet exposed to agent orange who died of pancreatic cancer

    Well for one think it masks the problems, were back-slapping our children's futures into the grave. America needs to face some issues and fix them, after we fix them we can congratulate ourselves.

    Randy Pausch died from chemotherapy and medical treatments related thereto. The medical institutes ignorance towards what cancer truly 'is' perpetuates this ruthless cycle. Take a look at the thousands of individuals who have reversed pancreatic cancer and continued on in wonderful health through understanding the natural and innate processes of the human organism. The current approaches to cancer will be scoffed at in future generations. There is just too much profit involved at this time.

  • @artliquide
    @artliquide 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    All of you need to take your political propaganda elsewhere. You are attempting to belittle a serious human condition. This is bigger than politics.

  • @williamdau
    @williamdau 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ummm, there really isn't a lot to digest.
    He's got pancreatic cancer and is using his new found "celeb status" as a platform for panc Ca.
    He definitely played the political card, which made his original lecture kind of false.
    But he's playing the game he needs to play to get the funding. The worst part is he's right, its a matter of lack of funds.
