Glad you stuck to piano through all the hardships! it's a tough instrument, fingers that just don't obey you, so frustrating and don't get me started on sight-reading. As quite an emotional person I struggled with these feelings too, I would get frustrated at myself when learning new things, beat myself up at times, like I should be better than this... perhaps it was a childlike ego
I think going steps further and even admitting that I was a loser, at least in my own perception of myself actually helped me overall even though it kinda sucked to start. It taught me after a while it wasn't such a bad feeling after all, and it was just a perception of myself and not reality. After that I felt I could go after things with more clarity. Life doesn't quite work out the way you wished it in your head sometimes, and that allows you appreciate all good things that has happened.
Besides in learning any skill or even in overcoming constant rejection, persistence can allow you to overcome any bad luck. Sometimes your brain chemicals go left when its supposed to go right, and it's not your fault, just chance. Silly brain.. keep at it and your squishy pink guy will find a way. Same with rejection, bad timings, things not matching, pretty much always not personal, just keep putting yourself out there, even if it stings a bit inside. It gets easier :)
Admire your resilience Joy, keep at it!

You resonate with me so much, but the difference is that I realize I'm not good when there's so many people that's better than me😢

That ending was very wholesome! We really need to prioritize “trying” and celebrate those who try, even if they aren’t at their best yet. So many people celebrate you when it’s convenient! So don’t give up, celebrate yourself in the smallest things and keep going!

so inspiring fr ❤ "trying hard" is the real badge of honour, and so much more commendable than just having things come easy to you in life. great vid, as always 💫

jason i think your comment got blocked by the filter but i can see the beginning of it. no we don't know each other. i remember you from a few years ago after i came across one of your deliberate practice articles (funny how it's kind of related to this video). i specifically remember you being a gymnast because i did boys' gymnastics as a kid but my parents pulled me out at level 5 and i was sad about it (still kind of am🤣), so it was cool seeing other guys like you who were able to compete at a higher level.
