The message of the song Sneakers is for Koreans and ppl who live in Korea. That's why it's their best charting song since dalla dalla, and it was their 1st million seller album. It's their 1st release post covid, the lockdowns in Korea ended and they could fans again after over 2 years of no fan interaction at all. ITZY came out with a summer bob that had a hopeful message for all their fans who were socially isolated, and didn't feel like they were living life the way it should be lived. We lost track of our hopes and dreams and SNEAKERS says, it's time to chase those dreams and get back out and live life. It's okay if you are scared, or don't know how, just put your Sneakers on and follow us. It was the right message, at exactly the right time, by the right group. Which is why we charted this song from July 2022 well into 2023. So yes, western fans didn't get it. Because you didn't get "locked down" you didn't have your life restricted to no social gatherings of more than 4 people. You didn't live for 2 years the way Korea did. So as the guy on the right says "I didn't get the message of the song" because it wasn't meant for you, Americans didn't suffer as much as other nations during covid, you complained about mask mandates and social restrictions and most of you didn't follow them. So it's okay. Sneakers isnt your song, it wasn't meant to be. It's ours.
I am not a sneakers hater haha 😂 - Brandon I can tell that the song wasn't totally made for the US market but I still really enjoy the hooks of this song and it was something I was humming along to all day today haha

Twice had to step up their choreo and stages after ITZY was applyin all that pressure. They’re the original Monster Rookies. Itzy helped usher in the 4th wave of Kpop. Who was hitting choreo like them back then? No one lol
um i love itzy and they’re incredible performers but they never put pressure on twice😭 they put pressure on other 4th gen ggs but twice was the nation girl group way before itzy debuted and nothing can put pressure on them except the other big 3 ggs of 3rd gen: blackpink and red velvet

Boys Like you didn't do what anyone knew it would do because it was released just before their US tour started and they lined up a lot of press and late night and early morning TV and radio to promote the SHIT out of the song. BUT it was all canceled due to the ITAEWON Halloween tragedy and all groups (even those on tour) needing to observe a national period of mourning where they couldn't promote. They could only do the bare minimum of their concert shows. It does sample Taylor's love story. Taylor and ITZY are label mates at Republic Records and samples are easily cleared. Taylor is a huge western pop star and their goal was to promote this in every city on tour and the US GP would eat it up just like they love Taylor's music, however as I said, those plans were canceled, and the song is just a victim of an unfortunate tragedy.
Yeah I feel like if it hit the right markets in America it could definitely pop off more than it did! That would make sense that it does sample love story I'm surprised I caught onto it lol
