    👀Make sure you also update the DJI Go 4 app to 4.3.5 or you may not be able to update the remote controller.👀

    Nice test GI ... thanks. Next time it would be great to tilt the camera straight down when ur precision landing so we can see the drone making live adjustments toward the pad. And I have NO PROBLEM with the incremental feature releases from DJI. I would much rather than the core drone released earlier so I can play with it and learn the fundamentals. Every great 'connected' gadget manufacturer does the same these days (Tesla, Apple, Sony ...) and these new/updated features are much appreciated over time.

      All great points and I wish I talked to you before I did the video. That camera view would have made for a good visual representation of what the drone was doing. I'll keep it in mind if I do another video like this.

    Nice video! I updated yesterday and all was fine. The RTH worked fine, the Mavic 2 Pro landed within inches of take off. Being able to save the way points in the task library and the obstacle avoidance laterally in point of interest mode is a big plus. Voice alert I still have yet to hear in active track when subject is lost and the other added functions I have yet to try.
    Keep those videos coming!!!

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of really useful features were added this update. You're right, the task library will come in handy for doing repeat hyperlapses and more importantly for me, for doing repeat waypoint flights once waypoints are added. I'm going out in a few minutes to film some footage for a video I'm doing on auto-focus, so stay on the lookout for that.

      Hey thanks, I appreciate it. They still have at least one more feature to add....hopefully it won't take 3 more months for waypoints.

  • @GadgetInspector
    @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For me, I don't look at this feature as something I'll use every time I fly...hardly. For such an expensive drone however, any and all safety features are very important to me. Here's just one scenario where this would prove useful. Let's say you're flying and the battery in your controller dies and maybe there's something near the home point you don't want the drone to land in. RTH kicks in and the drone flies back but you can't guide it in if you need to. I say the more precise the machine can be when out of your control the better.

      The zoom is a good one but I prefer the pro. 1/2 inch sensor vs. 1 inch sensor, but if you don't want to pay the extra cost, you can't go wrong with the zoom.

    I have a question does anyone know when you return home does precision Landing pop up on your screen or not I saw one video it did but mine doesn't I know mine's working because I'm using a landing pad and it lands right on the X very impressed thank you DJI

    @davidhuett3579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video.
    I have the Mavic 2 Pro and have updated to the latest firmware (Sept 2022) and still find the landings are not precision enough. The drone tends to land 1.5m to 2m away from the pad.
    I've re-calibrated the IMU following a firmware upgrade as suggested by DJI and the Compass ... but still the landings are off.
    Somewhat annoying .. when you see others constantly making precision landings.

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that's weird. I wonder if it has something to do with the region you're in.

    • @davidhuett3579
      @davidhuett3579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GadgetInspector OK .. problem sorted!
      After take-off, you need to rise straight up for about 7m for the Mavic to take the required photos that it uses to achieve its 'precision' landing.
      It uses position information in these pics to help make adjustments for the landing.

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidhuett3579 Yes that’s right! Actually really good best practice to let the drone rise and hover for at least 30 seconds before touching the sticks.

I send the CS back to DJI and now I'm using my iPad Mini 4 with it...Thing is that now Precision Landing isn't working and can't find a way to fix it...🤦‍♂️ Not even using the DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic 2, there's no way to downgrade it to the Precision landing firmware update 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I'm stock with a drone that doesn't know where its precise home point is...

    Good review GI! As you know I have a Spark and it lands also very precise. Only... I never used it. Never. And return to home? No also no return to home. So why? Well... what shall I say.. for me flying is freedom. Having control, let the Spark fly as I want it to fly. I feel uncomfortable when the drone flies on itself. Why uncomfortable? I don’t really know..
    But now your Mavic2Pro lands like it should. And thats good.

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's ok Carel, fly the way that is most comfortable for you. Most fail-safes are much like insurance IMHO; you're glad to have it when you need it. It's great that folks of varying skill levels can fly pretty much however they want and/or need to with these advanced machines. You may want to at least know how to use RTH just in case you need it; it's probably one of the most important safety features on GPS drones. If you're only flying at very low altitudes and short distances you may never need it, but you never know.

    • @cvheugten

    Do you have to use the app to launch the Mavic in order to get precision landing? Or does it work when I manually launch (using the sticks)?

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't paid enough attention to when I app launch or manually launch, but I can't see why it would make a difference. I didn't have to do anything special to initiate Precision Landing. It kicked in automatically.

    • @LesGainous
      @LesGainous 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Inspector Well, if you manually take-off at, say a 45° angle, I would think that the precision landing system would be unable to record the needed detail of the launch point. I've never used auto-take-off nor PL in my other aircraft-I enjoy launching and landing it myself.

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure I would feel comfortable launching from such an uneven surface, I always search for the flattest area I can find, but with that said, if I did I certainly wouldn't want the drone to land automatically. Precision landing and RTH are fail-safes in my opinion, not something to use every time you fly. I guess I take for granted things that I think should be obvious, so I don't always spell everything out; that would make for extremely long videos. Can't remember the last time I even used RTH outside of a product demonstration for TH-cam anyways. Again, it is a great failsafe.

    • @LesGainous
      @LesGainous 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Inspector Oops! Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant from on a flat surface, but taking off and moving forward at 45°, not straight up at 90°. I launch like that fairly often and I don't think PL would work in those cases. I fly a lot, but unfortunately not for pleasure, so I don't have a lot of time to test all these features.

    How does one check to see if the DJI Go 4 app is 3.5 or whatever?
    How does one upgrade the app?

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you open the app, click on "Me" in the lower right hand corner. Then click the gear icon in the upper right hand corner. The version number will be at the very bottom. To update the app, you just have to go to your apps in the App Store if you have an iPhone and find the DJI Go 4 app and it should indicate whether an update is available; they same should be true for Android.

    You running a filter on the drone? The colors look much better on the birds video then your gopro. Great video!!

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't have a filter on for this flight since I was just testing the one function, but the camera on this bird is the star of the show for sure. If you liked the way this looked, stay tuned because I have some amazing footage I'll be sharing soon from the Summer and Fall. My action cam is more like a "NoPro" but it's pretty good quality, but you're right, when you see the M2Pro camera there is a huge difference.
