I've had the PB6 for 2 years and it has been a constant mind-blow. It just wants to be different from the usual classic sounds, but can do those too; even sounds awesome dry with pan spread or stereo layer. The oscillators are amazing, flexible and always sound naturally vintage, with unison highly useful and configurable. The filters and parameters-exposed for the EFX are maybe the weakest point somehow compared to some other top-tier polys, but certainly get the job done, and the "modular" factor of the matrix saved into the preset where you can easily see the routings is sublime for programming.
I also like the filters. The Steiner-Parker is even more versatile than the OB-6‘s SEM, and the ladder filter has resonance compensation, a rare feature on this type of filter.
@@RayyMusik Great points about the compensation on the ladder, and flexibility (if not always totally pleasing resonance) of the Steiner. Can keep the Steiner reso lower for a pretty good 12 dB slope sparkle, though, and it's nice to have both filter types.
I bet you're buying one too right? How's the Pro 3 going, did you manage to make it sound horrible like John does? Before you ask, I have had mine since release, along side a Pro 2.

Fantastic demo once again! 👍 As for the Murmux Adept, exactly my kind of sound design 🙂 Beautiful and haunting, but also very rich, alive and evolving, perfectly showcasing the synth’s tone(s) and modulation capabilities. 🙌🔥🔥🔥
@ArturiaOfficial Please give this synth to a great keyboarder and let us hear a real Demo. These retailer presentations of the synth are neat but IMHO pressing a few keys doesnt even come close to the spectrum a skilled player might be able to unlock.

@@cp-the-nerdturns out I buy such synths for sonic experiments and sound design. It’s exactly the kind of creative demos I’m looking for (as for the Murmux Adept btw). Classic brass, bass, leads and pads are covered 100 times already on my side… 🙂
Does the new Polybrute 12 have the original patches of the Original Polybrute incorporated. Otherwise..... Nah Arturia are cheap. I don't want 2 beasts in my set up. However, it does sound awesome.
More ....digital-sounding, distant filmscorish pads and such, drenched in effects. Low end is non-existent. Aren't the NI filmscore VST's 1000x better for this?
Software is technically better for everything, and can do everything. But this is a great-sounding analogue synth, with possibly the best keyboard compared to the other analogue synths, so if anyone wants an analogue synth as a toy, why not... It's great for what it is able to do IMO. Has its limitations like any analogue synth, but limited functionality also means limited distractions.
Yeah, suuure.....everyone keeps saying that the demos' sounds aren't that great, and the low end isn't there, but IN-PERSON it's magically awesome". Riiiight.....
I guess how dynamic it reacts to your playing is a big part of the magic, especially if you have little experience in playing accoustic instruments, where this is just normal. Whether that magic is also present for the listener is a different question, and in the case of the synthesizer may require that you not only practice your instrument but practice a specific patch. To me therein lies the problem with all the MPE devices: You actually MUST perform (and so far without the ability to readjust or quantise later on), which might be a lot to ask from people drawn to sequencers and MIDI.
@@bojangprodoktschns5428 Yeah, but you can get a better result cheaper if you have an MPE keyboard like the Linnstrument, Seaboard, Osmose. This poly-AT implementation is great, not the absolute best maybe but great, what's questionable is the synth that's bundled with it. It's definitely not for everybody, and software can definitely do way, way more. I still do like this synth itself though. Maybe not to the point of spending a huge chunk of money on it, but it's nice. I respect the effort Arturia put into it, even as a fan of all things digital.
There are very nice and musical moments in there. For example, the « Lost in the rainforest » evolving pad is like a 21st century version of the Prophet 5 pads Mark Isham used on the score of The Hitcher… And the whole demo gives a great impression of what sounds the synth can produce. Much better than playing a funk tune with bass/brass/lead. Imho 🙂
Thx for the upload, but the more I listen to demos of the PB12, the more I am convinced it does not do deep bass very well. Midrange and treble duties are fine but when you hit the lower octaves, the bass is there, just not very loud. It could be the presets, but still not convinced. I am listening with a pair of planars and they resolve bass pretty well. I am sure when more demos of custom patches are released, we may hear better bottom end, but I feel the Teo5 sounds deeper than this. With how it pans and spreads it's fine, but somehow bass anemic imo. I hope I am proven wrong in the future, as the synth has a lot going for it otherwise.
I have the 6 voices version Polybrute and i can compare it to the OB6, Ms20 and Korg Arp 2600 that i have . There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Polybrute bottom end in fact its really really good since you can boost the bass using the HP filter just like on a MS 20 (add some resonance). But its a poly , sure it can do bass but if you are looking mostly for bass just get a cheap mono (way cheaper :)).
@@jeansebtremblay I just heard this demo and it is devoid of bass, so there is clearly something missing here. It's not the headphones as they resolve bass quite fine. Like I said, the Teo5 sounds better in the lower registers.
@@adognamedshinji we are not discussing mono vs poly, I am speaking of lower bass registers where the PB12 seems to lack character. I know plenty of synths that have bottom end when playing chords.
Here's a top secret method: use another synth for bass and use this for what it is good at. Over my loudspeakers (active studio monitors) the bass sounds totally sufficient.
The sound from this is intense those extra voices and all the parameters are insane!!
