I remember the dragon going down while flying high in the sky but somehow NOBODY noticed the fleet bearing down on them, just so they could surprise the AUDIENCE, was another big controversial moment that had everyone going "wth was that?" Style over substance.
Getting "ambushed" on the open sea isnt really a thing that happens like that, certainly not in broad daylight and really not at all. If there's no visibility that means neither side can see. Ships could be blockaded, or get set upon by a bigger, faster or better armed fleet, but they ARE going to see them coming long before they're in range to fire, let alone board. This show has had TWO ambushes on the sea that miraculously nobody ever saw coming, just to shock the audience. The first time a fleet of experienced sailors somehow didnt notice the much larger fleet until they were being boarded, which is completely nonsensical. The second time two dragons in the sky AND a fleet didnt see another fleet coming until they were being fired upon.
Really it's just insulting the audience's intelligence to pull stuff like that, going for the big shock when it doesnt make sense and they didnt really need to. A larger and better armed fleet would not be less lethal bc you can see them coming.
According to the writers, Dany "kinda forgot" (their words, I swear) about the Iron Fleet. Granted, two episodes before that, they were on the map she was examining, but she "kinda forgot".
Yeah, I noticed that too and was wtfckd by it. LOL
How couldn't they see the ships from that high? They made it as if the fleet was obscured by rock formations but as you said, if it was the case, the guys on the ship shouldn't see the dragons too.

I came back to watch these last eps for the comedy of them genuinely how could they mess up a show soooo bad they nail 3 shots on rhaegal like they were throwing trash in the bin from a foot away. They ambushed a whole fleet and 2 dragons in the open sea and don’t miss a shot even though they physically CAN’T practise shooting an aerial target in game of thrones. “They forgot about the iron fleet” even though they are the ONLY thing Cersei has the advantage with. Quite frankly this final season felt like a marvel what if? Also the entire show it was stated “the real war isn’t about who sits on the iron throne the real war is between the living and the dead”, the book series is called a song of ice and fire for this exact reason. You can clearly see in the final 2 seasons this wasn’t an adaptation of the books at all just a cash grab on the books writer and to show “a game of thrones” why in gods name would the finale of a song of ice and fire be about a game of thrones and not “the song of ice and fire” the entire book series is because the Targaryen’s saw a vision of the long night and had to save the dragon species specifically for this war yet it ends in kings landing and the dead never get further than the north. 😂😂😂
watching the reaction isn't fun anymore (in this season). Not Nikki and Steven's fault at all. The show pissed me off so bad with all this bs. now watching the reaction I'm reliving all the anger and disappointment when I was watching😭
I would read some comments on past seasons saying how bad S8 was and stuff and I was thinking "aw was it that bad? the battle against the night king was kinda cool, besides being too dark", but yep, it's what happened after that that is extremely unbearable... to the point that I'd rather watch the night king win that battle and march to king's landing. that would probably be more satisfying to watch tbh
Missandei’s last words was basically telling Danrys to “light them up” “burn it all to the ground”. Remember Missandei was able to see how ungrateful people are even though Dany was helping with her Dragon and army (Sansa comment in the crypt).
Missandei also was most likely privilege to Cersei's plans because she knew she'd never return to Dany alive. If I knew my enemy was going to use their own people as a human shield, and that the people hated both queens, I'd wonder why I'm sacrificing so much for them... I'd probably do what she did in her final moment.
Tyrion just played a smart move...If eurons smart he will realise that there was no way for Tyrion to know about the baby if it was his... And that will lead him to betray Cersei.
That's what I thought the moment he said it. I was just doubting that Euron is that smart. If he does figure it out though and if the Golden Company find out that Jon is the true heir, maybe both of them will turn on Cersei.
@@keonalee-rimpel2933 The Golden Company are Mercs, they don't care who the "true heir" is, I put that in quotation because Gendry is the true King as the legitimized son of Robert Baratheon. The Golden Company will only switch sides if the other side can pay them better (Unlikely) or it seems certain Cersei will lose, while we know Cersei will die in the show it certainly doesn't seem like it to the characters as they now have several anti-dragon weapons.

Jamie's breaking point was at the end of season 7, if they somehow really sent him back just to fuck Cersei one more time then i will be disappointed beyond belief, but i don't think that's the case.
I SOOOOO agree with that!!! I in NO way believe that Jamie is going back to being a loyal little puppy who does everything Cersei wants, I believe he is going there to stop her because he might just be the only one who truly can. I will defnitely have to SEE him completely go back on any and all character development he has had thoughout the show before I write him off at least, because at this point I don't buy it AT ALL.

Default Name - Not the same. Rickon and Missendei were innocents that were taken hostage and then murdered in front of their loved ones by the shows two most hated characters. Daenerys came there for a parley with Cercei to talks of terms per her damn advisors (again)... and she’s welcomed with a surprise attack-her dragon killed and her close advisor beheaded. And people are still nervous that Daenerys is going to do something impulsive? Wtf!? Her dragon just died and her best friend. Cercei demanded war and she’s about to get it!!!
So if two people YOU loved was murdered in front of you this way, would you just go “oh, yah... I should’ve waited longer. Dang. That’s my bad. I’ll turn around now and drink my tears. And then I’ll wait it out until my enemies can grow stronger and who knows, maybe they’ll even quietly murder me in my sleep.” Might as well pull a Tommen and voluntarily jump out of a window. Daenerys been patient AF since season 6 and she’s still trying to be patient while her so called allies/advisors are literally conspiring against her already now that she’s lost a majority of her army + 2 dragons.

Like I was saying into my own comment, Jaime already knew before that Cersei was most likely in a lot of danger with Dany going after her and the throne, and he still chose to stay with Brienne in Winterfell. If he was going back to save Cersei - why didn't he just leave before, when Dany and the army left, instead of staying with Brienne? He *only* changed his mind after he found out everything that Cersei and Euron had done, and realized that Dany wasn't going to win anymore. People keep thinking he only heard the part about Cersei being executed, but you could already see his face and body language change when Brienne was telling him everything Cersei had done.

I am predicting Euron will kill Jamie in front of Cercei after Jamie attempts to plead with her to step away and after he is beginning to make progress with her and Arya will kill Cercei. Remember last episode and the wording in her prophecy about her killing Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes and Green Eyes. Brown Eyes equalled Welder Frey, Blue Eyes equalled The Night King and Green Eyes equals Cercei. With how fortified and heavily guarded Kingslanding is, Arya is the only character with the skills and training to bypass all that undetected
@@brandoman79 that would make Arya the true hero and the show creators have pointed out there really can't be one true hero, which makes sense, and technically in the books Litttlefinger had grey-green eyes, but it is not out of the realm, but the prophecy is the 'valonqar=litttle brother' but arya could take the face of one but that would mean she would kill one of them.

Also! Dany has lost so much! She lost her first child and lover, 2 of her dragons (which are essentially her children too) and her best friend! I would worry for her state of mind as well
Danny did everything to support a war that wasn't even hers, she could have completely stayed in Dragonstone the way Cersei stayed in Kingslanding. She helps Jons multiple times and gets no real appreciation for her efforts or the amount of loss she suffers. She lost her Dothraki, her unsullied, her trusted advisor Ser Jorah, her dragon Rhaegal, her relationship with Jon is coming into question, she's lost her title as the final Targaryen, she lost Missandei but despite everything she's done no one in the North really appreciated shit for all her hard work. WHATEVER MAN... BURN THEM ALL. Zero fucks given anymore!!
If you think about it though, it’s really her fault and Tyrion’s fault that the Wall came down. Without Tyrion’s brilliant “prove it to Cersei” plan, she’d have never gone up to save Jon. Thus, Viserion wouldn’t have died & become the Ice dragon to bring down the Wall. She could have stayed at Dragonstone and attacked Cersei first, with the full army, then worried about the white walkers at a later time.
But the white walker attack would eventually have become Dany’s war if she was on the iron throne, not just “jon’s“ war. Unless she became a bride of the night king or some other fanfic.

I was seeing Cersei in Sansa for a while now, but for the first time I think we actually saw Littlefinger in this ep. That move was very "Chaos is a ladder" to me.

I've defended the writing choices a lot so far, but it really has taken a massive dip.
She loved Jon more than anyone, now she's found it he's not a stark, not her brother. Jon was the ONLY reason she went off mission & came back to winterfell, and now "Jon" is gone.
So she's gone back to what she was before she heard about the king in the north. Writing is solid

This argument about Danny turning out like her father. Well she is not mad in the same way. How can you compare them? He was sitting on his throne, the enemies at the gate, wanting to kill all the people he rules over, to win over his enemies, to win at any costs, hurting the people he was ment to protect more than the ones threatening him.
Dannys people are the ones who sacrificed their life fighting the battle in the north, fighting Cersei and so forth. She would attack innocent people by burning the city, sure. But it's not the same way her father did it.
Every one in this show killed innocent people by "trying" to win over one another. It's the rule of war, the most to loose, the most suffering are always the innocent.
Doesn't mean they have it any better with Cersei on the throne. I mean she is the one killing her people by burning up wildfire for pure revenge reasons. She is the one killing off babys, cause they might be bastards sons of her late husband (even if it might be Geoffreys order, Cersei wouldn't have stopped him and would have done the same). So I think she already is the image of a "mad Queen", so we don't need another one. And I hate how everyone is hating on Danny, as an opposite of Jon or whatever. Just because he is Aegon now doesn't mean you have to hate Danny. I have the feeling a lot of people misread her actions and words a lot. Like I said many times before: The moment Jon told her who he was, she lost everything in a way. The "right to rule", the man "she admitted to love". Man you were okay for Arya killing House Fray entirely!! Not only Walter and his sons. I mean the soldiers also did what they had to, didn't they? She killed them anyway and at a time where you not know if the people in the hall were the same ones, that were at the red wedding. Could have been new soldiers, different ones and so on. Regarding Jamie: I'm 100% sure he did it to protect Brienne and that he will have his show off with Cersei. It's the only story arc for him that has not come to an end. We will see how they choose to end it. I still hope for him to return to Brienne at the end as the changed man he is, free to live a new life. Maybe find some peace. But thats possibly only wishful thinking and he will die. But still I believe he has changed at that point and he would not fall back into Cersei's puppet. I'm sure of it.

Something I just considered: think about the scene where Dany is trying to convince Jon not to tell anyone and to make Sam and Bran swear a secret. That pretty much mirrors the happenings of Ned and Lyanna and Howland Reed and potentially Benjen. (It's hypothesized that Benjen knew which is why he ultimately took the black) Ned and company all kept the secret. Jon survives because they do. Now, Jon, who is a reflection of Ned has the same opportunity to keep the secret, which Ned did his whole life. Jon makes a different decision. What then might be the outcome of not keeping the secret? It's also interesting to note that the younger characters are turning into the older characters, in a way. Jon-Ned, Sansa-Little Finger, Arya-The Hound, Bran-Three eyed raven, Dany-The Mad King, Cercie-Tywin. Varys and Tyrion are sort of the logic and chaos that make these characters interaction comedic or tragic.
Ghost not getting so much as a "good boy" from the man he saved and stayed loyal to was the real tragedy of this episode

Upon rewatch, I really like some of the foreshadowing regarding Missandei’s death. When they reveal Missandei in the red keep, it plays Zombie Mountain’s theme and shows him in the background. Later, when Tyrion walks up to negotiate with Cersei (and Missandei’s life was on the line), it played Zombie Mountain’s theme again

When Tormund mentioned Jon being a madman for getting on a dragon, all I could think about when looking at Daenerys's reactions is the word "Mad".
You can see her going mad throughout the episode. Jon's claim to the throne and the deaths of loved ones have pushed her further over the edge, but now she has resolve.

Dany, on the other hand has a decent soul, we saw that in Meereen (yes, she had trouble with stupid Harpies, but she tried everything to prevent them from killing people), she has experience leading a city and plays the game better than Jon. I don't hate Jon at all, but I still think that after all the facts, Daenerys would be a better ruler than him. Lastly, she is the only one that Dornish accept as their ruler (because of the Martell and Targaryen history - they went to battle and fought together ...). The north should stay an independent country but still "communicate" with Kings Landing.

for Sansa's play and where her character arc is going, I always think of the two quotes of Sansa saying "If I was queen, I'd make them love me" which she's proven with the North's trust in her and her in them and then also Cersei's prophecy of "You'll be queen, for a time. Then comes another, younger, more beautiful, to cast you down and take all you hold dear" I've always thought that it would be really clever for the writers if they played it so everyone thought it was Margaery in the prophecy but it was actually Sansa idk just something brought to mind

About Jaime.. All the things he hates about himself, he did because of Cercei. And he also knows that she sent Bronn to kill him. When he says "Shes hateful, and so am I" I think he is admitting that he hates her, and he is going back to kill her.
Questions for the podcast: I’m a big book fan and have loved the show for the most part, but this season has disappointed me. For this episode, I have two main questions.
1. Arya is a shapeshifting assassin who just single-handedly killed the unstoppable force that has been haunting mandkind for thousands of years. Dany calls her the hero of winterfell. When planning for the war with Cersei, Arya is in the room, standing by the table and they don’t even acknowledge her. She is their most powerful weapon and they don’t ask her to do anything. Than she leaves with the hound and let’s them flounder. That to me is bad writing.
2. Dany, Tyrion, grey worm and the dragon are all sitting outside Kings Landing unprotected. Cersei knows they are coming for the throne, and so do her people. Not only would it be smart for her to take them out right there, but it is exactly what Cersei’s character would do. I don’t see any explanation as to why she would let them live.
I think a bittersweet ending iş coming... everybody was/is expecting Arya to kill Cersei, but it will probably be Dany.
Both Cersei and Dany are goners... no spoilers just speculation.

In this episode, you can see the breaking of Dany's spirit, she's tired, she's lonely and she feels like an outsider.
She feels her losses and feels people dont trust her, and the cherry on top is knowing Jon is a Targaryan, which means she feels she is losing his love too because Jon is struggling with the whole situation of them being related (eventho Jon loves her a great deal)
And then, losing Jorah had a very deep impact on her too, she feels guilty over not being able to return the love he had for her, in the way he deserved, and still he gave his life protecting her at all cost, this pains her a great deal.
She lsot a Dragon, her child, to the Night King, so only has two left (for now.... RIP Raegal)
She feels that her advisers are not giving good advice and she's losing trust in them, so by now, the only friends she has left are Missandei (for a short wile longer... rip Missandei, you never deserved this) and Greyworm who she feels, are still 100% loyal to her cause
She doesnt trust Tyryon anymore, and ever since that episode where she promised Varys that she'd execute him if he betrays her, she also has less trust in Varys.
All she was clinging to was... love, if you look at it, all she wants is to be loved, and to love.
She truly loves Jon, and he isnt able to return that love anymore, a kind of reversed Jorah situation i guess, and this hurts her so much, that she feels isolated, unloved, unwanted.
That she doesnt get the recognition she deserves in the battle we just had, also proves to her that the North still doesnt love her and still doesnt trust her.
That all together, is causing her breakdown, and she only needs a few more pushes in the wrong direction, to become a tyrant herself.
By the end of this episode it comes down to, "If love wont help me to rule, then fear will".
Its such a great show....
One thing I was thinking about the whole time Dany was begging Jon not to tell anybody and betray her is in Season 1 when Aemon was telling him - "If the day should ever come when your Lord Father was to choose between those honor on the one hand and those he loves on the other, what would he do?..."
Have Bran go back and figure out how to make Valerian steel, then have Gendry armor Drogon with it.
That's actually a very good point. Valyrian steel is supposed to be very light and strong.
