Visite chez Pierre COCHEREAU, organiste titulaire à Notre-Dame de Paris. Il raconte à Claude ROSTAND ses débuts à l'orgue et sa formation d'organiste. Il a construit lui-même un petit orgue personnel sur lequel il exécute quelques morceaux, montrant toutes les possibilités et tous les effets de l'instrument.Puis dans la cathédrale, Pierre COCHEREAU présente l'orgue de Notre Dame de Paris, datant de 1868. Il improvise un morceau sur le thème de Noël.

I have always been fascinated by the "house organs" of the masters. Other than Dupre's organ in Meudon (which based on recordings is not the most special of instruments) I wonder what happened to Cochereau's (and his travelling unit organ). Leave a comment if anybody knows.
His house organ has been, since 1996, the base of the Rocquevaire church (Midi, South of France) rebuilt ! (keeping its 5 manual console he had built as seen in this video, and quite all of its stops)

Le grand Pierre Cochereau, à l’image de ses successeur, ne sait pas que Leonin (Magiseter Leoninus) ne jouait pas l’orgue. Il n’y avait probablement aucun orgue stable à Notre-Dame à la fin du XIIème siècle. Tout au plus, utilisait-on un instrument portatif pour enseigner les mélodies ou soutenir le chant des chanoines - et même là...
