When I first started watching this series I was worried that this would be a horror planet full of spiders, but even a spider planet can be compellingly beautiful, love this series.

Do people have trouble to differentiate between anthostomes and polypods? Their eye disposition, body structure and mouthparts are so different... Also, the polypods don't have "way too many eyes", they have the same amount of eyes the anthostomes have lol

yeah, considering the spatial complexity of rainforests, and the various grasping bits of the tanybrachidae, I can see this species eventually (with the evolution of social behaviours to augment intelligence) becoming some of the smartest species on the planet, paralleling primates, and eventually developing human level intelligence.

He could keep doing something like that. Developing two or three new clades per episode, showing how such small organisms might adapt to the various environments he covers. There are a lot of interesting things that are done by arthropods here on Earth, like how ants, wasps and bees form colonies. To keep this arthropod analogy going, he could have a clade like ants develop colonies, and then leave it there, without having to detail the thousands of clades of ants. Basically, I would like him to talk about malacoformes a little more, but that doesn’t mean he has to talk about them constantly, there is an area in-between

Well there’s never been a point where I could just for sure say “yup, they’re gonna do that” and that’s exactly how a species changes. I like it because it keeps an open mind and he always mentions that the species we see presented are just a fraction of those that would actually exist if a planet like this was real
Not really two species - he's specified from the start that all of the creatures he's detailing are clades, and so are at the very least a genus or family of creatures, but the two clades detailed at the very start he specifically refers to as "body plans", which means they're most likely Phyla (ie the taxonomic level directly below Kingdom)

I picture them still looking like pseudo-spiders and having what is basically a car with the petals behind them (because they don't need to see them to use them) and having steering in the front. Man, Netflix's "Alien Worlds" has nothing on this series. Visually nice, yes, but not even a tenth of the content offered here.
That series was such a huge letdown. The original Alien Worlds was so much better.
My main annoyance with 'Alien World' is that they spend too much time discussing Earth's life rather than focusing more on the aliens.

Not really likely. The tanybrachids have a really specialized form of movement that requires the walking limbs to become smaller, limiting their effectiveness in waking.

My main annoyance with 'Alien World' is that they spend too much time discussing Earth's life rather than focusing more on the aliens.

Well there’s never been a point where I could just for sure say “yup, they’re gonna do that” and that’s exactly how a species changes. I like it because it keeps an open mind and he always mentions that the species we see presented are just a fraction of those that would actually exist if a planet like this was real

Not really two species - he's specified from the start that all of the creatures he's detailing are clades, and so are at the very least a genus or family of creatures, but the two clades detailed at the very start he specifically refers to as "body plans", which means they're most likely Phyla (ie the taxonomic level directly below Kingdom)

God I hope. It'd be cool to see him continue after some species develops sapience and design a culture based on this biology
@@karnewarrior Oh I would *love* to see what kind of technology they use and how they fit it to their biology! I picture them still looking like pseudo-spiders and having what is basically a car with the petals behind them (because they don't need to see them to use them) and having steering in the front. And a little stool in the middle to rest their body weight on. And that's assuming the body plan stays the same. Etc. Etc. So fun to think about.

There is something so inherently unnerving about some of those plants and animals here. The fuzz on the tree hugging plants... just sets off alarm bells in my monkey brain.

The monkey things would be terrifying, predatory gibbons with like 8 legs no thank you, I'm not scared of spiders or stuff but that's just a nope
Idk if this is possible, but imagine the gibbons evolving to walk on land and use their big arms as weapons for hunting.

@@y.cuevas9933 if they did they their arms would most likely shrink because actual gibbons can walk but they have to hold their arms up in the air cause they're too long so they would probably evolve to look more humanoid instead of like gorillas or something if they end up become ape like but idk

A moment, when you realize that Biblaridion's series about possible design of an alien life are much more detailed and scientific than Netflix's Alien Worlds series. Maybe there is no fancy CGI, but every picture or rendered model is accurately described with following narrative.
