Just for context I try to reply to y’all’s comments cause I was the kid in the video! But I did love this moment and I will never forget it. The crew were super friendly to me and treated me like I was a very important part to the operation of the whole thing! The conductor was my favorite guy he gave me a tour of the locomotive shop and let me on the front of the locomotive while it was moving and he told me “ I usually don’t let people do it. But you are special your a vip” his exact words very awesome people and I give respect for there volunteering when they don’t have to!
These two are generations apart and have so much in common and respect for each other, it's wonderful to watch. The older engineer is looking at himself decades ago.
I saw myself in that young fellow. Made me remember my first cab ride on the Central Vermont between Palmer and White River Jct, VT and back when I was 16 years old. And then the first time an engineer put me in the seat to run.
I did this when i was 16 at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, CA. Now i do it for a living for BNSF, and 10 years later it's still fun with a full freight train behind me going up and down mountains.
Wow that seems amazing. It’s my dream to become a engineer for Norfolk southern ( if you know who they are ) My grandpa works on trains so he’s a huge inspiration
@Railfan6708 Haha I do know who they are. I say if you have a dream, pursue it. Apply as a conductor trainee, then build your seniority and promote to engineer. It's a great job.

Bad you didn't have mics on so its hard for my to understand what the instructor says. Very nice and interresting video. The Boy ist so lucky . EDIT: The automaticly created subs are working well. Maybe youtubes voice reader can filter out the engine sound and everything. I am happy i understand more now. Please let the boy drive more often with more cams and better sound setup. I love when young kids have interest in technik and specially in old stuff. they all should get a chance to ride one of this. sorry my english is bad.

and this is referring to what?
I’m pretty sure anybody would know that!😂 but I’m gonna be the nicest engineer so that was a bit of practice just driving it!
And i shocked the engineer about everything i knew so im pretty sure i got my train terminology correct?

This is a COOL KID right here!!! I'd like to just ride on an old steam engine before I die. But trains of any type are just cool.
I got a tip.
Go to a like rail museum if you have one in your state or if you like traveling go to a different state to go to a different rail museum
