Storm footage from the central Kentucky area as well as videos of other interests of mine as in Crystal collection, Mines, Ham Radio anything really LOL Enjoy... If your expecting extreme weather videos you will be dissapointed as this is Kentucky.. we do get some but its normally typical severe kinda stuff...
Veridian Apt Fire 7/1/24
07/01/2024 Lexington Fire Dept responded to the Veridian Apartments on Armstrong mill road for a structure fire. during the battle the order to evacuate was given which is where this video starts.
Somehow an aluminum ladder against the bravo side balcony fell away from the structure and fell into powerlines running along man o war Blvd causing the base of the ladder to start arcing violently the ladder was hung up in the powerlines for some time before power was cut... master streams went into play and eventually knocked down the bulk of the fire.. 3rd floor of the complex was fairly well destroyed. lower units taking smoke and water damage. no one was injured thankfully.

On the evening of Friday May 10 an extreme geomagnetic storm took place just after 10 pm edt. this triggered northern lights seen well beyond Florida. was a G5 storm that gave us an amazing display here in lexington ky.

@gillesrenaud6926 not many angles to choose from. Can't see from all sides. Only other side that could see from was under the electric wires with a ladder hanging off them . Also large trees blocking veiw from further away and further left.
Wow what a blaze! Entering the fray as the trucks sounded get out! Power lines coming down! Fighting the fire outside the building is tough but safer for the FD. I never second guess the Captains orders.
Doubt anyone commenting here was at this fire or knew what the IC’s plan was. If there were FFs doing an internal attack then using an elevated stream could subject those members to being steam scalded - no thanks. We only got to see two sides of the bldg so without knowing the variables it’s conjecture at best. I know three things for certain, the roof needs replacing, Lexington Fire has nice equipment & last, the ladder involved with the power line isn’t going to pass inspection. Hope those residents had renters insurance, it’s cheap comparatively speaking and will protect you from someone else’s bad day.
@mikehoysler4322 there are 2 buildings in a square patern entry splits east west with small courtyard in between. Side facing man o war was involved. They had 2 ladder trucks on my side a 3rd ladder on the opposite side with engines feeding them. They were fighting it internal until I got there then they pulled crews out. Shortly thereafter the ff dropped the ladder on powerlines can't really say anything else I'm not a firefighter. Can't hear what they are discussing via scanner so I your alls guesses are as good as mine. I just filmed it so for those that want to criticize the vid just move along lol

This fire appears to have started on the upper floor and spread into the attic/roof or started in the roof. It's not really a deal seated fire in this case. I'd say yes if the fire started in the basement or main level, tore through the main and upper levels before taking g out the roof. So a more broader stream and less of a water laser type spray pattern? Yes?
Can someone explain to me the rationale in have a straight stream blasting everything it touches to kingdom come? Would a flare spray pattern be more effective in this case?
Very early in fire maybe but the stream is much better on a deep seated fire. Saves a lot of manual labor too.

It took an awful long time for the ladder truck to start putting water on the fire.

Miss my wise nan she was a gem traditional old school lady who always made wonderful cakes and was a great mum and nan! Rest in heaven nan Harris u are now with god.xxxx

Yes it was.. There were 2 waiting on the other line wanting to head southbound. the spot in at is single track to double in the dir its heading as you can see by the NS waiting up there at the end
@@K4SWXthere’s a lot of railroad tracks where I grew up in Chicago. They are all mostly elevated above and run along the back of factories. You pass under the tracks in viaducts all over Chicago. I never understood how trains never hit each other. Must be a crazy system to keep it from happening.
@@reekz1568 yeahI think theres 7 feet between rail sets most railcars extend about 3 feet beyond the actual rail leaving about a foot of clearance between trains going in different directions LOL Seems a bit close to me LOL wouldnt want to get caught between them for sure

Oh cool... Glad to be 600. LOL ... Been my passion since i could read.. But yeah this storm was the second of the day. wasnt much of a tornado threat with this one as it was more linear. that one section of the shelf did show a little bit of rotation and lowering as seen in the vid .. Awesome shelf cloud on its approach but being out with the fam i wasnt in a great spot to catch that till we stopped to grad some food then i went out and started filming. It did get a severe warning due to hail nearby missed us by about a mile or so.

Most of the winds were 55 to 65. Some gusts topped 80 those did the roof damage the sustained just made it worse. My area didn't take alot of tree damage. There was so.e most was a few streets over and also out on the open horse farm fields.. the park behind me had about 10 to 15 decent sized trees uprooted
In Oklahoma 3-31-23 had entire afternoon of sunny skies but horrible Fires & winds gusting 60-70mph trees down million dollar homes burned a week later same area had 80mph Nonthunderstorm winds breaking trees at night for an hour 49-50+ sustained. This here looked to be gusting to at least 60mph easy. The stuff we get in Oklahoma really tears up. 2021 a 100mph Windstorm ripped thru KS & Oklahoma with Derecho Windstorm thunderstorms & 80-100mph Nonthunderstorm winds tornadoes too

Right, I feel like we had a decent amount this year for us. Especially June 25th, and July 2nd. You catch the early morning system on this day? I watched it from the horizon until it over took me on a hill out on Grimes Mill. It was a beautiful structure.
