Okay this is exactly what i needed! I just got my first bearded dragon from someone who was giving him and everything away free. It was a friend of a friend kind of thing (she was being evicted). Gonna go get a 100 watt and hopefully that will do the trick

We got my 9 year old daughter her first gecko. A Leo. One part of the enclosure is about 75 degrees. The basking spot is at 85 degrees. @rastareptilerescue I was thinking about that. Good to know it actually works. I'm probably gonna get some desert plants to put in the enclosures as well. Mostly succulents
This is really helpful! what do you suggest for my bearded dragon (it’s a juvenile) in a 50 Gal, Also I have a Zoo-Med 10.0 T5 HO 24In 24 Watt and yes it is replaced with a 10.0, and for the heating I have a Flukers lamp holder but I am unsure of what heat lamp I should put in it . Yeah you could use a heat panel lots of people do. Now I will say halogen is good but even incandescents are almost just as good it’s not that big a difference. Deep heat projectors are honestly overrated I only use them for night heat for my ball pythons during winter when it’s extremely cold. To keep it above 60s during the night
Are halogen bulbs safe for tortoises? I looked it up on Google and this tortoise forum came up and someone said that they are bad because the IR-A levels are too high. Causing carapace desiccation and pyramiding.
@ChiefSweetsUniverse I should have elaborated more. Is a 75 gallon tank. I cover the cool side with foil. Because the AC gets cold at night, I added a heat pad on the side of the tank (not the bottom). Any advice or changes needed? Thanks!

I would take out the ceramic heat emitted and just use the 100 watt basking light during the day. Make sure the uvb is a 10.0 and other than that you are doing great! I have a question since it's the weekend and i can't get into a vet until monday if needed, my bearded dragon has red poop but not bloody, is that bad? could a red bell pepper be making him poop red or is he bleeding internally? I haven't gave him more peppers so i can see if anything changes but for a few days now i have seen a light red color and i'm hoping it's just from good 😢
Oh yeah if you gave him red peppers they don’t digest the skin very good and that will result in red poop. Usually blood in poop looks exactly like blood. Like the dark red color. Sounds like maybe it is the red pepper though but a quick vet visit isn’t too bad.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Thank you so much! That makes me feel more hopeful and better! I think your right, it doesn't look like blood at all, it was just all red and when i searched it said red=blood mostly, but i believe it's the peppers but i will definitely check to make sure! How can I get my 4x2x2 to hold heat better the cage all around is about 76 and the basking spot is about 107 is that good? I just feel he needs more ambient temps
Hi! I got a 5x2x2 tank for my bearded dragon recently, and I'm unsure about the lighting, I have a 100 watt basking bulb, a 10.0 reptisun uvb (this one is inside the tank, in the center) and a ceramic heat bulb. I think I'm getting the right temperature, but the tank is black and it doesn't look too bright inside, and I don't know where to place the lighting either, all in the middle? Just one side? If I move it to one of the sides, the other side would be super dark.. do you have any tips so the tank looks brighter without making the lighting set up ineffective? Thank you!
I have a 50 gal tank until he's a yr old( will be buying a bigger tank of course) I plan on getting a leopard gecko or two and having the 50 gallon be their enclosure. But my temp was reading 110 in the tank yesterday but I honestly don't feel like that was accurate. I had the thermometer directly under the heat lamp about 7 inches or so so where would be the best spot to put it to get an accurate reading of the climate
I’m having a hard time getting the correct temps in my tank and maintaining them. I have an adult beardie I recently got from someone and I have to replace everything in his tank. I got a 100 watt bulb and an Arcadia Pro-T5 12% both set up on his warm side. Right now I only have one digital thermometer on his basking spot but I’m not sure if I have it placed in the correct spot. It’s directly under the light but it keeps fluctuating between 85-91° and I don’t know if he’s getting too hot or too cold until I get another thermometer and a IR temp gun. Also, the UVB and heat lamp are on top of the mesh lid and basking spot is about 10.5 inches from the light. Can you help me?
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse well let's just say I've left food out overnight and it didn't spoil. But on a serious note I am actually watching some of your videos on how to make a bioactive terrarium. I'm taking notes in exactly what I need to get. I went to a reptile show in my city earlier today to ask questions and get familiar with what I'm gonna need. I have literally nothing but the research as of now. I'm gonna visit my local pet stores (trying to avoid Petco and PetSmart) to get what I can locally. Since I'm going the bioactive route, and going to keep it in the living room with natural light do I still need more light on too of that? I'm getting a created gecko so I shouldn't need too much heat except right now if course, since the temperature inside is only about 10 degrees warmer than outside which right now is about 50. Can you keep reptiles in a house that is almost allways in the 70s to low 80s? I'm scared that someday my reptile won't be able to cool down.
78 is ideal, cooling down under 65 can kill most dem Suh hotter always better, cooling down for them is 75-80 , they run cool naturally so heat is best, yuh are doing perfect
@rastareptilerescue thank you so so much😅
I have a question since it's the weekend and i can't get into a vet until monday if needed, my bearded dragon has red poop but not bloody, is that bad? could a red bell pepper be making him poop red or is he bleeding internally? I haven't gave him more peppers so i can see if anything changes but for a few days now i have seen a light red color and i'm hoping it's just from good 😢
food*
Oh yeah if you gave him red peppers they don’t digest the skin very good and that will result in red poop. Usually blood in poop looks exactly like blood. Like the dark red color. Sounds like maybe it is the red pepper though but a quick vet visit isn’t too bad.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Thank you so much! That makes me feel more hopeful and better! I think your right, it doesn't look like blood at all, it was just all red and when i searched it said red=blood mostly, but i believe it's the peppers but i will definitely check to make sure! I appreciate all your help!
What watt/uvb should I use for newly bought baby albino leopard gecko? Only been using ceramic heat emitter with regular sunlight for right now…
Depends on tank size. If 20 gallon I use a 50 watt heat and Arcadia shadedweller
Is 150 watt to hot in Canada
No that’s fine
I have A sulcata tortoise. My house get cold at night, she is still pretty small. Trying to figure out what to use at night for heat? Any suggestions

What bulb you suggest for a basking area aprox 9in height.
For what lizard
I have a 20 gallon long tank until my 120 gallon tank comes in do you think a 50 watt basking bulb is good for a bearded dragon?
For the 20 gallon yeah that’ll work
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thanks so much
Worst thing I did was visit petco. They sold me expensive heating stuff i didnt need and turns out it was all wrong.
Straight up pet store ppl a idiots dem
How can I get my 4x2x2 to hold heat better the cage all around is about 76 and the basking spot is about 107 is that good? I just feel he needs more ambient temps
Cud do reptile cable behind a false wall or run anudda dome wid a day bulb pon other end too
Thank you!
What kind a bulb yuh use?
What should the air temperature be for a bearded dragon? I heard the air should be in the 90's
Yeah 90s is good. Above 99f I would say try and lower it.
3:15 yeah, what a bunch of weirdos huh........? I definitely need some heaters for my crested.
Haha don’t tell me you live in a refrigerator! 😂
Lack of ac and proper insulation.
@@richardsanchez5444 haha oh man so you live in the cold cold. So really if you only need the extra led if your plants start to die and not grow. If you notice that then get the led light for the plants health. Other than that you can go uvb and heat alone. Bioactive is pretty easy to be honest seems hard but it is easier than you think
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse yeah it felt a little daunting but watching your videos and others it seems the hardest part is just the gathering materials and putting it together. Thanks for the help, appreciate it. I subscribed, you got some real good info.
Why? Do you do all Bearded dragon info lol
I’m just hammering out questions from viewers this actually is a video for all reptiles.
Hii, do you have an email where i can ask for advice? I really need advice with heating!
I have a Instagram where you can send pictures and message easier
Is 75 watt bulb got enough for a 20 gallon, for a baby breaded dragon?
Can i use 2 ft. 100-Watt White Full Spectrum LED Linkable Plant Grow Light Daylight
Yes you can
I just switched to a 4x2x2 from a 6x2 I had her lamp inside it’s a 75 watt but the basking point was to hot reaching 113 I put it on top and it’s now at 90 but wattage bulb can I use for inside to get the basking point good? The light has a distance inside of 8 inches. Is that to close. What should the cool end be at? I’m stressing over this now since I set it up 2 days ago I need her temps correct. Please help with advice I’m going crazy trying to figure out it out.
Their back should be 10 inches from the light-DO NOT put a light INSIDE the cage! He could easily get burned! Basking should be 95-103, cool side 65-70 only. Hope this helps!
I use a 150 watt uva bulb and a Zoomed Reptisun 10.0 uvb T5 ho 24 watt (with hood). Available on chewy (cheapest).
@@onelostlove1cool side shud be 77-87 for adults but otherwise correct
Your electric bill must be outrageous! Lol
It’s actually not bad at all. Summer when I use my ac unit that’s when it’s insane 😂 but winter it’s around $160 a month
You are a good character. I also love God's beings / creations. Lets do a collab? Have faith
Thank you I love them as well
I have a question! I live in Pa and during the winter my room gets cold af (we have shitty radiators) what should I get for my hermanns tortoise for night time? Thanks
