"Don't use too many popping colors, it'll be a clown fiesta" "If you overdo it, it can be a little bit gaudy" Me, about to paint some Slaanesh dudes: 👁👅👁
just wanted to let yall know I've been havig a really rough day and this popping up on my notifications really cheered me up, I'm feeling lots a gratitude rn just felt like thanking you guys:}}}
Scott, your 'therapy video' might have been a throw away comment but I think it's a great idea. I would, and I'm sure others would also, enjoy seeing a simple follow along every few videos. Not every video needs to be the height of entertainment or a hobby changing pearl of wisdom. Just paint some stuff on camera. :)
Your podcast is for me a great motivation to do stuff. I had to stop cooking at times, because I was laughing so much, but dinner is ready and the kitchen looks so clean like it hasn't in tens of years. 🤗
Directly or in indirectly the podcast helped resolve this issue. Maybe not because they're not worried about your sphere of influence but because it showed them someone mishandled this situation. But I like the thought that you guys totally put the fear in them. LOL : )
I think the Vince line that we reference the most is "You can't mess this up." It's nice to have his ever-calm reassurance, especially when it looks like something I totally could mess up.
Scott, regarding 19:04 : I would love to watch more videos of you just painting a certain miniature and having fun with it, without the video having an ulterior motive about technical education or anything. Of course, I don't know how well these videos perform and how much work they are to produce.
I definitely think your podcast made a difference. I think a few people went to their website and made complaints of their customer service towards Jon and that they lost some customers because of that.
As with most companies today, social/multi-media influence is more important than individual customers. Glad the situation got resolved and YES it was 100% because they were called out on your podcast.
For decent sized companies that do a lot of business on the internet (like certain camera equipment retailers), there are often people who watch for mentions on various media platforms. There were enough comments about B&H and you get enough views that it wouldn't surprise me if their social media guy ran across the podcast in a search.
If you release your own wood elf models I'll definitely buy them. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a video of potential sculpts you put out and I absolutely loved all of them.
There is this technique in traditional painting of pouring acrylic colours and mediums over IPA (part of the molotow chrome) that creates these crackle effects as IPA evaporates. Probably what caused the crackling with the vampire too.
you start watching to learn new things about the hobby. you stay for all the random references Jon and Scott say. like idk my bff jill haven't heard that outside of my group of friends, ever.
Thank you guys for another awesome Podcast!, related with B&H, what if the CEO is just a kind miniature painting enthusiast having fun in his kitchen table hearing trapped under plastic?. Maybe is my Uncle Steve! who knows hahaha. Take care guys I love your work, I’d watch both of you even if you are making videos abouthighlighting with mayonnaise or ranch sauce.
@ 52:00 I think you mean the 'mind blown' meme from 'Tim & Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job!' when they're pretending to be astrophysicists describing the universe
Ok, it's officially impossible to paint whilst listening to this podcast. Every time i laugh i have to stop or make a huge mistake coz i laugh so hard. biggest one was "Don't dump IN the lake" lololol
RE doing nothing but spoons for testing: I did a few marine sized bases as tests for doing a display base for a local competition. Best of both worlds. Get to practice but in an actual application that I can use for an army and not just on goofy spoons. So maybe an idea for a segment or video could be useful things to practice on. Like trying new techniques on troops to practice for characters, or making test bases that will be used as objective markers.
I made a mistake with my Sisters of Battle army. I wanted to make the bases match some terrain that I already painted a tan color, so I made tiled bases that were painted in the same way, then I painted their armor red and their cloth...tan. At least this wasn't a clown fiesta. For my Salamanders and Thousand Sons armies, their armor is so bright and eye catching that I used more muted colors on the bases.
Scott should put a MAC valve on his airbrush or upgrade to one that has one on it. Since it would allow him to have much finer control of the air pressure being used in the gun. I use H&S airbrushes a infinity and a silverline both have fpc(what H&S call a MAC valve) on them and I would never go back to a airbrush without one. If Scott likes the Iwata experience then they sell plenty of them with MAC valves. Though if you by the Mr.Hobby version of the Custom Micron you can save over 50%.
The Alclad metallics and primers/clears have been the gold standard for metallic in the scale modelling world for a while now - cool to see them shouted out here. One word of advice... if you are going to use any of their range, wear a proper face mask, and open EVERY window in your house. The stuff is STINKY and pretty toxic. I've started using different products now for this reason.
As someone who worked CEO level complaints for many years, I can tell you, it never gets up to the CEO. Someone like me has to deal with it, usually by shoving our fist down the throats of those responsible. Glad to hear it was sorted.
Of course your video fixed things... big companies never act right until they get called out in public. I can tell you, B&H's customer service is wildly random in quality. NYC, in decades past, was full of shady "grey market" electronics shops, and I don't think B&H ever got over that heritage.
This episode needs examples on screen everytime you bring up a point for the lamen of us who still don't get the example! 😇 Waiting is a great film! I've now got a picture of Jon milking Cow Elves for his daily fix of Mountain Dew! 🤮
Watching these in the wrong order and hearing the words "you need to consider them as one piece" and I'm here like, yeah the JENGA TOWER please just say the words :O
Hands up if you got scared half to death when your Google device told you who plays fuckin Deadpool and you thought there was someone behind you for a hot second :D
I think its safe to say that this is the literal only time Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson has been confused for friggin Eric Wareheim. Came for the painting advice, stayed for the personalities LUL
I can't say that one of us did or didn't @ B&H. I will say this: I don't do ANYTHING with camera equipment, and even I was motivated to jump on their balls about that situation
2nd favorite. You gave me a shoutout episode 9 i think. so that's my fav. :D but this one is rifuckingdickulousssss. Scottyboy, watch training day dammit.

Hey Stranger, I hope your days get better.
Hope today is better than the day before. You rock and never forget it!

I second this motion.
This is the best part of my Monday... Hands down! Please make it weekly 😬🤘😬

My favorite Vince line is "You can paint your base rim any color you would like... so long as it's Black!"
What is really ironic is that the first ad before watching this episode was a B&H Photo ad.
I've got your back Scott, I've said "tens of..." before. I'm more inclined to say decades for years, but it's definitely a thing.
Yup. You can and people absolutely do say "tens of" years...
Scott, regarding 19:04 : I would love to watch more videos of you just painting a certain miniature and having fun with it, without the video having an ulterior motive about technical education or anything. Of course, I don't know how well these videos perform and how much work they are to produce.
Jon wears his sunglasses at night.
So he can, so he can
Watch Scott weave and paint his edge highlights
I definitely think your podcast made a difference. I think a few people went to their website and made complaints of their customer service towards Jon and that they lost some customers because of that.
Look forward to every single one of these. Thanks for the great content here and on both of your channels!!!
I work for an online company and.......100% it had an effect on it and yes a patron probably said something to B&H
Scott's next video needs to be giant cork clown fiesta model. To see how well it actually looks.
As with most companies today, social/multi-media influence is more important than individual customers. Glad the situation got resolved and YES it was 100% because they were called out on your podcast.
Love listening to Jon and Scooter Pie drop those knowledge bombs!
Thank you for the Waiting references!

it gives me the warm and fuzzies whenever marco says “sensationsss”
I've watched every episode and this is by far the funniest one. You two Dew Suckers are crazy 😂
If you release your own wood elf models I'll definitely buy them. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a video of potential sculpts you put out and I absolutely loved all of them.
Minnesota has mountains. The Sawtooth mountains on the north shore.

They definitely heard you on the podcast. That’s classic “do nothing until it’s bad PR.”
"I don't have complex thoughts" - Scott
Different oil pigments will also stain the surface they are placed over more strongly and quickly depending on the oil pigment/color used.

Spaz-Stix Ultra Gloss for Mirror Chrome works over Molotow Liquid Chrome. It's literally the only varnish I have found that works with it.
100% had an effect! Your peeps rolled out hard and told them what is what!!
Airplane is a definite comedy fossil. 10/10
Ok, it's officially impossible to paint whilst listening to this podcast. Every time i laugh i have to stop or make a huge mistake coz i laugh so hard. biggest one was "Don't dump IN the lake" lololol
They say decades Scott 🤣🤣
You’re an entertainment machine 🤣🤣
Thanks for representing sanity for us John 😉
"Size matters in an ocean of tiny little dudes"
Oh... I know...
Don't save things for when you're better is great advice. It's not like there's going to be a shortage of cool models in the future.
33:33 Band name: Hot Pink Tuft
Best episode in ages, I'm dying laughing at the dew!

So my takeaway is that I need to do an ICP army in chrome armour at 76mm scale
I definitely think the podcast made it happen. A listener definitely made a move.
I spent some time in Cali in Mendo. My counsins and uncle grew up there. First I heard about it....
I made a mistake with my Sisters of Battle army. I wanted to make the bases match some terrain that I already painted a tan color, so I made tiled bases that were painted in the same way, then I painted their armor red and their cloth...tan. At least this wasn't a clown fiesta.

Well here’s my morning set! Yes.... needed boost.
U changed the world guys🤘
Scott doesn’t dream he just lives in ours.
Wonder if Jon's gonna do Deamon Prince conversion for his Night Lord's from that new bat centaur monster.
*Holds up spork*
'You know what this is, you casual? A KITBASH.'
Well this is super interesting I am from Mendocino!
I just noticed there's a level meter glowing by Miniac's right elbow... and Ninjon's mike seems to be set a lot hotter than Miniac's.
I haven't heard the term "tens of years" in at least two tens of years!
LETS GO!!!
i need to see this color shift spoon collection
56:20 i feel personally attacked 🤣🤣
It's incredibly unlikely that someone at B&H saw the podcast. Which means it's 100% confirmed that that's what happened!
The odds are a million to one, which happens 9 times out of 10
There better be mini painting in Waiting as I am upset that training day lacked it.

N side here.👋🌄You guys always cheer me up.
58:14 Does Scott watch twoset violin? I thought I heard him say, "Ling-ling insurance."

I was with you on the soft cookies....I'm gonna go with Jon with the "tens of years"...just say decades
Dane Cook is also in Waiting

FLUO PINK! That sh*t pops!
Drunk Mini Painting 4: Clown Fiesta Edition! Only neon/bright colors, all colors must end up on the model.
Terracotta: "baked earth", a type of pottery.
"Tens of years" - like, decades?
As someone who worked CEO level complaints for many years, I can tell you, it never gets up to the CEO. Someone like me has to deal with it, usually by shoving our fist down the throats of those responsible. Glad to hear it was sorted.
Jon is all snarky with them sunglasses
We have a pool and a pond. Pond would be good for Scott.
Of course your video fixed things... big companies never act right until they get called out in public.

I've now got a picture of Jon milking Cow Elves for his daily fix of Mountain Dew! 🤮
Where's the terracotta Jon?
Ben Kantor? Inventor of Kantor blue right?
Watching these in the wrong order and hearing the words "you need to consider them as one piece" and I'm here like, yeah the JENGA TOWER please just say the words :O
So since you have put B&H Photo on Blast, I now see their ads in the middle of TH-cam videos. I think you struck a chord with them.
Mountain Dew sales are soaring now, and bathtubs are being filled. Lol.
Would bathing in Mountain Dew give one super powers?
Vallejo Game Color confirmed to nab most of the old Citadel names
Looks like Scott’s got Elvis wonder on the show.
I can't say that one of us did or didn't @ B&H. I will say this: I don't do ANYTHING with camera equipment, and even I was motivated to jump on their balls about that situation
The podcast 100% had something to do with it. Direct or indirect. What I'm wondering is if there will be a note of apology when everything comes in.
Just keep pushing it until Jon's a partner at B&H!!! I don't live over there but it's the land of opportunity! Make it happen!!!😂😂😂
Soda for the Soda Gods!
Dew for the Dew Throne!
This is either your best episode or your worst episode. either way its my favorite episode.
2nd favorite. You gave me a shoutout episode 9 i think. so that's my fav. :D but this one is rifuckingdickulousssss. Scottyboy, watch training day dammit.
