This is what people from my era would call "A Happening". Everything here is so perfectly aligned- not just Jojo's incredible ensemble, but the kind of people who get drawn to them - the bubbles, the girls with hoops at one point, and just the hats and creative looks that so many of the audience have themselves. This was not a crowd, it was a group of *individuals*, ALL in synch with Jojo and his colleagues up there. This was definitely a "happening" !
I have a really weird brain, I think. There are hundreds of songs that I like and have listened to many, many, times, and yet I could probably sing along the lyrics to maybe a dozen of them at most. My brain doesn't retain the lyrics at all, but I can playback every instrument's part from the same songs in my mind. I also like really complex stuff with weird time signatures, too. I love trying to figure out WTF is happening in certain songs. Anyway, instrumental stuff is by far my favorite. I listen to a lot of electronic music and lots and lots of jazz and funk. I'm so happy to have found Jojo Mayer and his Nerve project. It's the perfect hybrid of both of my music worlds. I still can't believe how in the F they can do all of this live, though. My mind has been properly blown.
@@gustafsone lyrics are usually unintelligible anyway. not missingout much, the melody is the most important part of the lyrical part, not the words themselves. at least for the most part. a lot of times the lyrics are just nonsense.
So sad I couldn't go that year. That was the standout artist of that years lineup for me. JoJo had been an inspiration ever since I saw him as a kid at a drum clinic.
there is an interview out there in which he mentions that he is using it less now that he is older because he is worried about arthritis and other potential medical complacations, he uses it only when it is ergonomically feasible. like when he is playing the 2nd snare on the left hand side, but I assume he is avoiding hitting high and far cymbals with traditional if it is not ergonomic

This live clip is unbelievable! So mutch creativity and feeling to reach this level!
Incredibly tight in real time out in the real! 🙏🏻❤️
I'm sure the most talented band at this festival. True masters at their craft. JoJo and company blowing minds!!!
The audio in this video is better than the other video of the same performance
daytime gig automatically takes the ambience away
Thank god for music with no lyrics

Always mind blowing when they’re playing
The pulse connect the songs and the transitions but it would be interesting to know how the songs come up. Melody, bass, key...?
