In some ways, I'm glad WALTER hasn't gone to the main roster. NXT UK is the fine wine of WWE- it feels well aged, fermented in old traditions, yet it will always give you something you've never quite tasted before, and will probably never taste again. Every WALTER match is an instant classic. Why would I want him to go anywhere else? He could go to NXT, but then, he'd be in the IPA of WWE- tastes alright, probably well crafted, and, 5 years ago, when I was 18, it was the greatest thing in the world, but now it gives me a headache. Or he could go to the Bud Lite Main Roster, and we'd be throwing WALTER matches back by the dozen, just trying to get a fix of that once great magic, but never quite seeing it again. Leave him where he is. Take him out of the cellar every few months to give us a masterpiece. And don't bring any of that cotton candy vodka the other guys are selling anywhere near him.
5:36 Abadon is the one who got injured. She took a stiff blow to the throat and couldn't breathe. I'm actually thankful they did this for both her actual character but more so for her sake. Going off on my earlier comment about All Japan, I think Stan Hansen would have loved to work with Walter. I could also see in 1972 Bruno Sammartino sell out the Boston Garden for sure, versus Walter.
I seriously hope that they are now going to build towards a Walter Vs Rampage Brown match now that he's signed. Rampage is someone who can actually put Walter in jeopardy and is every bit as much of a Ring General as Walter is.
It's things like this that continue to draw me to Jim Cornette. Were it not for him tweeting about this match, there's a very good chance I would never have seen it. And wow, what a FIGHT. Thank you, Jim, for sharing this masterpiece.
Walter is what Wrestling needed. He let it look real. The Problem is..Wrestling in the USA ia more a Ego Sport and not a Combat Sport I am from germany and watch Wrestling since the late 80's and i NEVER heard about a backstage fight cause someone hit his Opponent to hard. if you would cry about it they would look at you and ask if you are a little Pu..y. In the USA you hear about a mass of backstage fights cause someone hit to hard...wtf.Its a damn Combat not a Circus. Someone dont like to get hit? Wrong Sport! I saw USA Matchen wehn they hit the Ait and the opponent still sell...BULLSHIT. Never saw that in europe or japan. Get the damn Politics and Ego's out from USA Wrestling and you will have amazing Matches again.
But this is actually Wrestling to Walter. he hit hard and can take hard hits. But Lesnar cant cause of his Ego. And thats the Problem US Wrestling is to dominated by Wrestler Ego's . Just listen to all the backstage fights cause someone hit his Opponent to hard. They are Girls or what? I never heard something like that here in Germany/Europe. If you would cry cause your Opponent hit you to hard then they would ask you if you are in the right Sport.
Walter is a small wrestler, he knows what's best for his career. He might travel to do one-off matches here in the States but he has said before he has no plans on relocating to USA and competing full-time in Main NXT or the main roster brands. He's content with his European dominance.
I have been thinking about Walter working njpw or even ajpw(I want him njpw tho). I am sort of familiar with his Indy work and i am pretty sure he has worked in Japan. But this man could be iwgp heavyweight champ and just have great matches with everybody there.
I love Meltzer's Star ratings only because it makes so many people angry. But to Cornette's credit. Greg Valentine & Tito Santana's feud over the IC Title were stiff as heel. Both have done interviews that they would encourage real punches & kicks in their matches. If one felt one was holding back. They would hit each other harder to wake them up.
I've watched the match. Damn it was good. Yeah I kinda like the high flying flips and flops that Mcfingerbang and friends do, the stunt spots they do, BUT if think about , it's like what Jim said, spot stunts. This one feels like a fucking fight. Fucking believable. If I was Tony Khan, I would get wrestlers like these, like Finn Balor, and Walter, and Cody, people that could make you feel it's a fight.
The Steiner Brothers Stan Hansen and the Nasty Boys didn't respect you if didn't wrestle stiff with them. Stan Hansen broke Bruno's neck with a power slam because Stan is damn near legally blind.
My only disagreement with what Brian said "Stan Hansen never put anybody out." Brian, the late great Bruno Sammartino would like to talk to you about the broken neck he came back from after a time. In other words Bruno was put out due to a botch, he was just tough enough to come back!
I've never seen a "journalist" get exposed as a stooge the way Meltzer has shown his ass over AEW. That company is just embarrassing and Jim can tell you exactly what doesn't work about it. Meltzer just doesn't care because the company is run by his friends.
Not a phrase I use almost ever because it makes me feel like Reverand Lovejoy from the Simpsons' wife screeching "Won't someone please think of the children?!" but I'll make an exception here. How dare Dave Meltzer, unfaltering proponent of gymnastics joke wrestling, even suggest Walter couldn't make it in the territories? As far as actual ability to be what a wrestler should be, Walter is leagues and leagues and leagues ahead of Dave's favourite gymnasts and low card comedy job guys. If you prefer Omega over WALTER, you aren't a wrestling fan, you are a gymnastics fan.
In real fight walter would destroy Omega we need more wrestlers like walter seriously
What if I enjoy both equally?
@@stephensmith5724 in a real sanctioned fight a 300 pound man would not fight a 180 pound man
@@dawavve you like both wrestling and gymnastics then :)
@@Mister_Phafanapolis Who says it has to be sanctioned?
Wouldn't take it? I'd rather have a guy who knows how to hit me and not hurt me badly hit me then have a 180 to 220lb guy come flipping from 10 feet up and not know if I'm going to catch a knee or elbow or shin or forehead to the face when I try and catch him.
Poor Ridge Holland. That cross body catch is as safe as it can get if you're big enough to do it and his knee blew out.
they're better at plugging their products during their podcast than jericho

The transitions are what I look forward to. Jim is such a Master talker.
@@1stylishdevil Last weeks plug in for the Green Juice made me go to the website to check it out. I might try it, i want to get back in shape and eat better.
Not when its Cornette! Just take my money!
@@1stylishdevil He is also a great Master debater....Lol
Look at the size of WALTER's hand. :)
Bobby "The Brain Heenan": "Johnny, I can't hit you any harder, my hands are bleeding!"
WALTER's chops make Flair's chops look like butter knife.
"Stan Hansen never put anyone out"
Dude I love Brian Last but Stan broke Bruno's freaking nexk
It was a botched bodyslam, when he was still green as a pro wrestler. The whole lariat story was just that, a kayfabe story.
I’m watching NXT because of Walter, but he has went through everyone. I would love to see him be a top heel on nxt or the main roster. If UK goes on shutdown bring him into the states and utilize his talent here in the State’s! Walter is must see!
Walter has said many times and I think it's because he is very close to his family, that is the main reason, he isn't in New Japan or WWE.
yep. he has no desire to leave his family in germany. it's a shame for the rest of us, but i can respect a guy who is willing to do business his way without blaming anyone else.
It's for the best, he wouldn't get anywhere on Raw or Smackdown. He'd be a 50/50 comedy jobber. New Japan is the only realistic option for success.
@@theghostofthomasjenkins9643 Being a Child of Neglect and Abuse, I respect anyone who puts Family ahead of their Career.
@@WSK9002 it's certainly not an easy decision to make. to make it and stand by it takes a lot.
@@joeclay8987 Vince would push Walter to the moon, he checks all his boxes and then some.
Anything that works counter to Meltzer’s narrative that the Omega/Bucks style is the best wrestling has ever been he will always find some way to try and undercut it.
I remember seeing Flair vs. Garvin. I was a kid at the time and just watched WWF but their match made me start watching NWA as well.
Three years later, he was the longest Intercontinental Champion of all time and newly crowned King of the Ring in a version of the tournament that HHH is trying to make relevant again. Keep going, WALTER!
Walter vs Stan Hansen would have been money back in the day.
I could honestly see one of those great 80s babyfaces like Ricky Morton, Magnum T.A or Dusty Rhodes really having a field day working with WALTER.
Imagine the money that could have been made, with the all American babyface, Dusty Rhodes, vs the cold, brutality, of fucking Walter; Dusty would have taken one look at him, and dollar signs would have shot out of his eyes.
It’s a shame that no current babyfaces, are as over today; you could still do some good shit with a number of current guys, but it’s easy to imagine what could have been done, with some top stars from the 80’s, or even the 90’s, like the Rock, Austin, Bret Hart, etc.
@@ThisCharmingMan1984 Especially in the 80s where an anti American gimmick goes a long way. Big Austrian Walter in his black robe and trunks, coming out to Symphony no. 9 would have gotten some serious heat on him. Pair him with one of those classic sinister heel managers like a Gary Hart and he for sure would’ve been one of the hottest heels of that time period.
I know Jim would never but I would love his opinion on Taichi Vs Ibushi at the G1 this year.
He already wrote Ibushi off forever because he's a jackass. Ibushi is at his peak now and Taichi is severely underrated.
@@JohnnyInJapan why did he write off ibushi?
@@HEAVYDIAPER he wrestled a blow up doll in DDT before he became famous. Jim couldn't just chalk it up to Japan being Japan and took that as a personal attack and never gave Ibushi a fair shake. I don't believe he's ever seen an actual Ibushi match. I bet he doesn't even know what Ibushi looks like. Ironically I'm sure Ibushi doesn't know who Jim Cornette is either so that is kind of funny. He would probably be very polite to Jim.
I always thought that the high-flying was fine when it wasn't everyone and it was sprinkled in, not the whole match.
Id love to see WALTER in modern day AJPW, think he'd fit in there great
Walter vs Marufuji
I've been saying for a while that Walter is the best thing going in all of WWE.
If we are dream match up VS Walter, I woulda loved to see prime 80s Dusty vs Walter...the selling and story telling woulda been insane!!!
Walter vs Ilja was fantastic....if you don’t tense up watching that, you weren’t paying attention!!
Just watched him against Pete Dunne and JEEEZUS he’s good
Meltzer is a joke.
Walter is most talented and the longest reigning WWE UNITED KINGDOM CHAMPION ever he is incredibly brutal but talented
Walters finisher is the last move he happens to hit you with . I can't stress enough how fucking great he is
Underrated comment
I got to see WALTER from ringside over the winter, I felt like I was seeing Dick Hutton or Gene Kiniski, a big crew cut straight ahead tough guy. No knee pads, no wrist tape, just black boots and black trunks. As my late friend Gordon Solie would say, "He's all man and a yard wide!"
Stiff matches, one might miss one to two weeks of work, High Flying matches one can be out for months, perhaps longer.
Dave and little Bryan Alvarez and all the rest of the aew jock sniffers, especially the British ones is they make money off of bashing WWE and wish AEW had half the roster WWE has. That's why every thumbnail is, this guy is buried, this guy or girl is unhappy, its just no pun intended real corny
Alvarez called Walter's match a masterpiece.
If Walter was on the main roster he would have an oktoberfest dancing gimmick within a year.
Funny thing is Walter never wanted to go to the wwe they had to pay Triple his pay, pay his promotion, and he hated working the survivor series which is why he he got eliminated show.
@G Robinson its sad how far that channel has fallen.
Rather than changing walter style he wud stay u in uk,thing is walter does not need to come to main roster of wwe or nxt they need walter
A lot of those guys Dave's talking about willingly stepped in the ring with fucking Vader. Like fuck.
I would've love to have seen Walter vs. Stan Hansen, Walter vs. Vader, and Walter vs. Samoa Joe.

Abadon is the one who got injured. She took a stiff blow to the throat and couldn't breathe. I'm actually thankful they did this for both her actual character but more so for her sake. It's pretty rare to find a wrestler who is supernatural based, who won't break character if someone else is taller than they are or more of a threat, and with AEW her comedic bits keep her in character while also being subtle...or well as subtle as a wrestling zombie lover can be
Going off on my earlier comment about All Japan, I think Stan Hansen would have loved to work with Walter.
I'd highly suggest checking out WALTER's matches against Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne as well if you haven't already seen them.
Imagine Prime Haku vs Walter...
Walter's match vs Ilja was better than all the Omega v Okada matches combined.
I’d love to know what Uncle Dave would have thought if it was on AEW...
The Starrcade 87 Flair/Garvin match is the stiffest match I've ever seen.
Killer match
Walter is what Wrestling needed. He let it look real.
The Problem is..Wrestling in the USA ia more a Ego Sport and not a Combat Sport
I am from germany and watch Wrestling since the late 80's and i NEVER heard about a backstage fight cause someone hit his Opponent to hard.
if you would cry about it they would look at you and ask if you are a little Pu..y.
Get the damn Politics and Ego's out from USA Wrestling and you will have amazing Matches again.
one of my favorite chop fests is garvin vs valentine i believe at the rumble - they were siiiick -laying it in
Meltzer doesn't like stuff unless it's from NJPW.
They will have to edit this to Gunther, formally known as Walter....I just hope WWE don't change anything else!
500 + days as ic champ❤ he is special
When he talks about the "prick face" I was dying
Walter vs Vader
Walter vs Stan Hansen
Walter vs Flair
Walter vs Steamboat
The list is endless.
Walter vs Tribal Chief Reigns sounds money.
I'd love to see Walter vs. Brock Lesnar in a shoot fight, this man is VERY legit.
But this is actually Wrestling to Walter. he hit hard and can take hard hits. But Lesnar cant cause of his Ego. And thats the Problem
US Wrestling is to dominated by Wrestler Ego's . Just listen to all the backstage fights cause someone hit his Opponent to hard.
They are Girls or what? I never heard something like that here in Germany/Europe.
If you would cry cause your Opponent hit you to hard then they would ask you if you are in the right Sport.
Saw the Omax Cryo freeze ad coming a mile away lol
Could you imagine WALTER vs Brody?
He's old school asf
Walter is a small wrestler, he knows what's best for his career. He might travel to do one-off matches here in the States but he has said before he has no plans on relocating to USA and competing full-time in Main NXT or the main roster brands. He's content with his European dominance.
"They don't need Brock with this fucking guy"
And now you know why Jim Cornette's is banned from the Thunder Dome.
Just think how long Ember Moon was out for for chasing the 24/7 Title. The dumbest reason to be put out.
I have been thinking about Walter working njpw or even ajpw(I want him njpw tho). I am sort of familiar with his Indy work and i am pretty sure he has worked in Japan. But this man could be iwgp heavyweight champ and just have great matches with everybody there.
Walter vs McBain from the simpsons on top of the Hollywood sign with Arnold Schwarzenegger as referee Lol!!!!
I legitimately fear Walter. I think he wants to hurt me.
We have very little Wrestling Promotions in Austria and they are all next to no high flying and pretty physical
Im even entertained by Cornette plugging products. Hell, he's even convinced me to buy some (manscaped).
Im just saying id rather take a chop before I ever took a super flip piledriver on the back of my head, on the apron
Walter style is the perfect style and should be emulated
The Steiner Brothers Stan Hansen and the Nasty Boys didn't respect you if didn't wrestle stiff with them. Stan Hansen broke Bruno's neck with a power slam because Stan is damn near legally blind.
I'm waiting on Jim to say something about how Shawn Michaels woulda liked working with Walter
My only disagreement with what Brian said "Stan Hansen never put anybody out." Brian, the late great Bruno Sammartino would like to talk to you about the broken neck he came back from after a time. In other words Bruno was put out due to a botch, he was just tough enough to come back!
Walter vs regal or vader can you imagine
Walter is the most territories caliber talent wrestling has seen in a long time and he'd be a damn blessing to any roster of any era.
Jim needs a animated series it would be fun
Walter vs Johnny Valentine......who you got.
Flair
Murdoch
Gordy
Brody
Hansen
Dr. Death
Either of the Road Warriors
Barbarian or Warlord
Any of the Andersons
I just named a handful of wrestlers that could have went to battle with WALTER
That god dammit at the beginning of this video sounded like it hurt jim lol
