The 230 is an old United number from NBC times.The Hartlepool Sunderland 230 always said that it was a joint service with Northern but I only ever saw United run on it unlike the X5/231 to Newcastle which was joint.I think that the Hartlepool Sunderland is the 23 now but it's recently been truncated at Peterlee and you have to change, something to do with the drivers hours as it took so long to get to Sunderland.
