I just considered “Cheez-its” the plural of “Cheez-it”. When asking for just one I would ask for a Cheez-it and when buying a full box of them I would buy a box of Cheez-its. If you told me one way or the other that it was Cheez-its or Cheez-it, I would believe you either way
I remember when I saw Cheese "itz" with a z and I would always be really mad because that period of time people used a Z instead of an S has ALWAYS pissed me off. I vividly remember telling the manager of the fucking Safeway when I was like 4, "a Z is not an S. Figure it out." And there is a video of me saying that and it is a story in my hometown of that happening, so what the fuck? WHY would a whole TOWN make that up and why would I say something about it as a toddler? I’ve only seen 5-6 old Charlie videos in 2020 when I first saw him. One of them was Shamwow. I remember because I didn’t really care for him…he was fun but didn’t care much…except I knew Shamwow so I was more interested in that video. I didn’t end up actually watching him until a year later so I’m not going off decade old memories or sifting through hundreds of videos in my mind.
One of the most confusing is the "Luke, I am your father" but only because there are several version of that movie. In each of them, Darth Vader says something slightly different.
I think people started the, "Luke, I am your father", line to clarify it's a Star Wars reference. It's not necessary anymore but it just stuck even though he says, "No, *I* am your father"

I remembered a really traumatising scene in a movie when I was a young child extremely vividly, yet when I watched it as a pre-teen nothing like the scene remotely existed in it. Sadly, somehow I've forgotten the movie and what the scene was about; after learning it didn't exist.
Perhaps it was a deleted scene or maybe the one you saw when you were little was the director's cut with all the scenes included whereas the one you rewatched was the theatrical cut with some scenes deleted?
That kind of reminds me of the Robin Williams movie Final Cut. His character mentions several times seeing a friend hit their head and bleeding profusely. And because it's a trippy science fiction film he actually gets to see the actual events in a recording. It was just a puddle of red paint.

To build off of false memories, I always had one about Half-Life 2. During the Black Mesa East chapter, there's a mini anti-mass spectrometer in the room where you first meet Eli in person. It's the thing with the orange gem behind the glass. You can interact with it and rotate the gem using two switches. One switch controls the horizontal rotation of the gem, while the other controls it's vertical tilt. But here's where my false memory comes in. I could've sworn there was a specific combination to these two switches. And that if you get this gem in the correct position, the gem would either explode or teleport itself out of there.
I think the reason people call it “Cheez-Its” over “Cheez-It” is because Cheez-Its sounds better when speaking. You don’t walk into a store and go like “Man I really want some Cheez-It right now.” You say “Cheez-Its” because it just makes more sense for it to be plural, and eventually people kind of just heard it for so long they assumed that’s what the name was and never looked closely at the brand name.

I always chalked it up to the same reason languages change over time, someone somewhere made the same mistake as thousands others and it just became that verses the original. Over time they become indistinguishable because it isn't a point of contention until some one corrects or remembers it being different.

I think the Mandela effect happens because when you remember something, you remember the last time you remembered it, not the original instance. You're basically playing the Telephone Game with yourself. But similar to how text is handled in dreams, text we read in our memories gets replaced with the concept of what was written. Like a pointer referencing a string in programming. You 'remember' the pointer, not the string itself. We don't read each letter after all, we only read the vague, pattern-recognized word sizes and shapes as a single unit. (Unless you have some types of dyslexia.) So when we remember that word written down, we know the concept that was there, pick what it most accurately represents (filtered through bias and other similar recollections), and then visualize what we're now thinking about in its place. This lets us, essentially, complete change the words/titles on things to match our expectations rather than our observations. People remember seeing your Twitch username and URL, and just think that's what they saw on your TH-cam URL, since they DON'T remember penguinz0 anywhere near as well. When they remember looking at your TH-cam URL, they replace it with the memory of looking at your Twitch URL. Penguin is tied to lots of other competing memories. "moistcr1tikal" isn't.

I watched a documentary one time that proved people can start to forget facts about a situation in as little as 30 minutes. Colors of things, people who were there, what happened, what time is day it was. It's very easy to forget shit.
There was a different study type thing where people where shown a very light car crash, like only a tap, but because the questions where like “how far did the glass go when it shattered” the people started to alter their memories and started to remember the car crash being very bad despite it not
My favorite is when a lot of people (including me) remember a movie called Shazam with Sinbad the actor. It was supposed to be a kids movie and Sinbad was a genie, there's even specific details in one scene that everyone around it remembers. People could detail the cover image too. Another is Candle Cove, people try to act like it was just a creepy pasta story first but I remember parts of an episode and even talking to some people that remember it long before that pasta story came out. If reality glitched or universes could merge together like soap bubbles who's to say that there aren't at least a few people that remember details from before each time? And as every thing merged and situations settled the merged or replaced people just don't remember like some others do.
Yeah, I might sound insane but I even remember that everything that i did or said when I was 6 years old, happened all over again, like I restarted time, I remember vividly climbing the walls and saying to one of my grandma's friends "oh yeah, I remember you" and then doing and saying the exact same thing when I ig to say "restarted being 6".

We'd sooner conclude timelines are literally collapsing than admit we forgot or misremembered something. I remember hearing there were interviews done asking people if theyd ever met the mascot bugs bunny at Disney land, after being asked about numerous other Disney characters to prep them, and a lot of people claimed they did. What's crazy, is after asking for details about where or when, they gave answers, and the more they think about the new memory, the more real it feels to them. I still remember seeing Santa in my home when I was a kid.
The Bugs Bunny - they probably are misremembering where they met Bugs Bunny. He was a mascot at a Six Flags, as well as other Loony Tunes characters. I mean, I just learned the other day that a memory I had of a vacation in Mexico was actually a vacation in Arizona. I was too young to remember and the memories jumbled as I aged. I knew they are called Cheez-It as a brand, but I assumed they were named after a single Cheez-it, so I continued to say Cheez-its as I'm always eating multiple. Looking it up now, the company claims that the plural for Cheez-It is "Cheez-It crackers". I will probably use both interchangeably both because I don't care and it never comes up in my life lol

On the topic of The Berenstain Bears, I vividly remember the old PBS Kids site that had a wheel that moved if you hovored your cursor over the left or right arrow. But when you hover your cursor over the show to browse through the game page, it vocally pronounces the name. I am dyslexic so I never knew how to pronounce "Berenstain" until I finally thought of looking through the games on the site and it said "bear-an-steen", not "bear-an-stain". And I remeber it embedded in my mind like that because I started going on the game site of The Berenstine Bears more often and the pronounciation never changed.
The TV adaptations used the name Berenstein pronunciation wise but still spelled it Berenstain. Many people probably remember the word they heard not a difference in one letter in the text so I don't really think that counts as Mandala Effect.
I have experienced a more localized Mandela Effect. Several of my high school classmates share the same memory as me of one of our teachers coming back to class after her pregnancy, talking to us a bit and making a specific joke to one of our friends implying that he is still a "troublemaker". We all have that memory, down to the minute detail but turns out that the teacher never returned after the pregnancy to our class, we all had already graduated by the time she returned teaching

The berenstein vs stain has a pretty simple explanation. It’s written in cursive so your brain may skip over a letter easier than if it was in print. Most would assume it is the typical ending to a name stein and fill in the “a” spot with an e in their mind. And once you say stein once you’re going to skip of the letter a in it forever.
Don't know how real they are, but there are also multiple pictures of merchandise, books and video tapes that actually have the misspelt "Berenstein" version on the label rather than the actual "Berenstain" spelling which would only further add to the misconception.
When it comes to mandela effect relating to movie quotes, those can easily be explained by people just saying the quote "wrong" for added context on the reference. Like people say "Luke, I am your father" to clarify they are referencing Star Wars, there for some people think that is the actual quote.

My favorite Mandela Effect to this day is "The Evil Farming Game". A bunch of people on Reddit swore that they remembered playing a farming sim similar to Stardew Valley, but with a twist: You killed your wife and had to keep her body hidden while taking care of your farming responsibilities. It got to a point where a separate subreddit was created to help track it down and some people even started making fan games. Years later, the source of The Evil Farming Game was discovered: Vinesauce Joel made a joke about a game like Harvest Moon, but you have to hide a body, and that joke went on to accidentally have a life of its own. Gotta love the internet.
i mean Stardew Valley by itself is already pretty weird by itself, one scene you're having fun with the homies then you're trying to talk a poor guy out of suicide in the next, then the spirits of the your own children that you magically yeeted out of existence come back to haunt you in the form of haunted dolls
The critikal thing for me was the first time I heard Charlie in a speedosausage (I think) flash animation that had critikal in the title and voiced by him. Even today I still refer to Charlie as critikal in the back of my head sometimes cuz of that.

I remembered playing outlast with my cousin a couple of years back in which we got all the files and unlocked the secret ending in which the main character would stop the bullets at the end and kill the military men. So recently I replayed it and I got all the files, to my surprise I didn’t get the ending, I thought I did something wrong so I looked it up, I couldn’t find this ending anywhere, So I asked about it on the outlast subreddit, they said there was no secret ending. I was literally dumbfounded, such a vivid memory that I clearly can picture to this day and it’s not real. The universe really needs to stop changing this stuff every update and patch it has.

What's most interesting about this is, it's not just isolated to people from one country, so this isn't mass hysteria. The Shazaam one still haunts me, cuz as an Egyptian i clearly saw the movie while i was a kid in Egypt and so it just couldn't have come from any US influence. i still don't understand how it just doesn't exist. There are people from all over the world (including me) that have this *same* false memory, without any interaction with each other, nor external coercion. We just all collectively knew things to be a certain way and it.. just wasn't.

That's the same one that gets me. When I first heard about the Mandela effect I could've sworn this was real until my brother told me it wasn't. Realized that it's exactly what charlie is describing, your brain just fills in the blanks when it doesn't have full memories. That explains away all of them (with the Cheezit example, you remember seeing a Z so you think it could be at the end when asked). With Shazam, only thing I can think of is Sinbad is like a real life genie, hoop earring and all. He should've been cast for that movie lol it's still a super interesting concept

I remembered a really traumatising scene in a movie when I was a young child extremely vividly, yet when I watched it as a pre-teen nothing like the scene remotely existed in it. Sadly, somehow I've forgotten the movie and what the scene was about; after learning it didn't exist.
Perhaps it was a deleted scene or maybe the one you saw when you were little was the director's cut with all the scenes included whereas the one you rewatched was the theatrical cut with some scenes deleted?
That kind of reminds me of the Robin Williams movie Final Cut. His character mentions several times seeing a friend hit their head and bleeding profusely.
And because it's a trippy science fiction film he actually gets to see the actual events in a recording.

To build off of false memories, I always had one about Half-Life 2. During the Black Mesa East chapter, there's a mini anti-mass spectrometer in the room where you first meet Eli in person. It's the thing with the orange gem behind the glass. You can interact with it and rotate the gem using two switches. One switch controls the horizontal rotation of the gem, while the other controls it's vertical tilt. But here's where my false memory comes in. I could've sworn there was a specific combination to these two switches. And that if you get this gem in the correct position, the gem would either explode or teleport itself out of there.

I think the reason people call it “Cheez-Its” over “Cheez-It” is because Cheez-Its sounds better when speaking. You don’t walk into a store and go like “Man I really want some Cheez-It right now.” You say “Cheez-Its” because it just makes more sense for it to be plural, and eventually people kind of just heard it for so long they assumed that’s what the name was and never looked closely at the brand name.

I always chalked it up to the same reason languages change over time, someone somewhere made the same mistake as thousands others and it just became that verses the original. Over time they become indistinguishable because it isn't a point of contention until some one corrects or remembers it being different.

I think the Mandela effect happens because when you remember something, you remember the last time you remembered it, not the original instance. You're basically playing the Telephone Game with yourself. But similar to how text is handled in dreams, text we read in our memories gets replaced with the concept of what was written. Like a pointer referencing a string in programming. You 'remember' the pointer, not the string itself. We don't read each letter after all, we only read the vague, pattern-recognized word sizes and shapes as a single unit. (Unless you have some types of dyslexia.) So when we remember that word written down, we know the concept that was there, pick what it most accurately represents (filtered through bias and other similar recollections), and then visualize what we're now thinking about in its place. This lets us, essentially, complete change the words/titles on things to match our expectations rather than our observations.
People remember seeing your Twitch username and URL, and just think that's what they saw on your TH-cam URL, since they DON'T remember penguinz0 anywhere near as well. When they remember looking at your TH-cam URL, they replace it with the memory of looking at your Twitch URL. Penguin is tied to lots of other competing memories. "moistcr1tikal" isn't.

Bernstein bears is a trippy one. There was actually an incorrect print for a group of the books, so there were books printed both ways.
My favorite is when a lot of people (including me) remember a movie called Shazam with Sinbad the actor.
It was supposed to be a kids movie and Sinbad was a genie, there's even specific details in one scene that everyone around it remembers. People could detail the cover image too.
Another is Candle Cove, people try to act like it was just a creepy pasta story first but I remember parts of an episode and even talking to some people that remember it long before that pasta story came out.
If reality glitched or universes could merge together like soap bubbles who's to say that there aren't at least a few people that remember details from before each time?

We'd sooner conclude timelines are literally collapsing than admit we forgot or misremembered something. I remember hearing there were interviews done asking people if theyd ever met the mascot bugs bunny at Disney land, after being asked about numerous other Disney characters to prep them, and a lot of people claimed they did. What's crazy, is after asking for details about where or when, they gave answers, and the more they think about the new memory, the more real it feels to them. I watched a whole EmpLemon video on this and also swore it had a cornucopia. Wild.
This is the reason I knew what a cornucopia is. I was staring at the logo while taking a dump because I had nothing else to entertain myself while seated on the porcelain throne. I asked my parents about it and they said it's a cornucopia.
That is the one I'm the most passionate about, since I also vividly remember looking at that logo with the cornucopia several times and I have a specific memory years before I knew about the mendella effect where I told my mother they removed the cornucopia from the logo and she said that there was never a cornucopia.

I knew they are called Cheez-It as a brand, but I assumed they were named after a single Cheez-it, so I continued to say Cheez-its as I'm always eating multiple. On the topic of The Berenstain Bears, I vividly remember the old PBS Kids site that had a wheel that moved if you hovored your cursor over the left or right arrow. But when you hover your cursor over the show to browse through the game page, it vocally pronounces the name. I am dyslexic so I never knew how to pronounce "Berenstain" until I finally thought of looking through the games on the site and it said "bear-an-steen", not "bear-an-stain". And I remeber it embedded in my mind like that because I started going on the game site of The Berenstine Bears more often and the pronounciation never changed.
The TV adaptations used the name Berenstein pronunciation wise but still spelled it Berenstain. Many people probably remember the word they heard not a difference in one letter in the text so I don't really think that counts as Mandala Effect.
I have experienced a more localized Mandela Effect. Several of my high school classmates share the same memory as me of one of our teachers coming back to class after her pregnancy, talking to us a bit and making a specific joke to one of our friends implying that he is still a "troublemaker". We all have that memory, down to the minute detail but turns out that the teacher never returned after the pregnancy to our class, we all had already graduated by the time she returned teaching

The berenstein vs stain has a pretty simple explanation. It’s written in cursive so your brain may skip over a letter easier than if it was in print. Most would assume it is the typical ending to a name stein and fill in the “a” spot with an e in their mind. And once you say stein once you’re going to skip of the letter a in it forever.
Most of the false memories I didn’t have, but that berenstein one got me good.
Don't know how real they are, but there are also multiple pictures of merchandise, books and video tapes that actually have the misspelt "Berenstein" version on the label rather than the actual "Berenstain" spelling which would only further add to the misconception.

A decade from now people will think "It's morbin' time" is a real quote from Morbius
A more recent one is from Invincible when Ommi-Mam says "Think, Mark, Think" even though it's just "Think, Mark".

@@wildfire9280 That's a common thing that happens to quotes too. The Disney version of Snow White says "Magic mirror on the wall" while the original story says "Mirror, mirror" which confuses people as to which one is right.

My favorite Mandela Effect to this day is "The Evil Farming Game".
A bunch of people on Reddit swore that they remembered playing a farming sim similar to Stardew Valley, but with a twist: You killed your wife and had to keep her body hidden while taking care of your farming responsibilities.
It got to a point where a separate subreddit was created to help track it down and some people even started making fan games.
Years later, the source of The Evil Farming Game was discovered: Vinesauce Joel made a joke about a game like Harvest Moon, but you have to hide a body, and that joke went on to accidentally have a life of its own.
Gotta love the internet.
What's amazing about this is I had friends in school who used to say "stardew valley is that one that secretly turns into a horror"

i mean Stardew Valley by itself is already pretty weird by itself, one scene you're having fun with the homies then you're trying to talk a poor guy out of suicide in the next, then the spirits of the your own children that you magically yeeted out of existence come back to haunt you in the form of haunted dolls
The critikal thing for me was the first time I heard Charlie in a speedosausage (I think) flash animation that had critikal in the title and voiced by him. Even today I still refer to Charlie as critikal in the back of my head sometimes cuz of that.
Before I started watching you my roommate watched you and introduced you as critical, and so it confused me when I found you on my own years later and your name was different than what I thought it was. your explanation makes perfect sense.
I remembered playing outlast with my cousin a couple of years back in which we got all the files and unlocked the secret ending in which the main character would stop the bullets at the end and kill the military men. So recently I replayed it and I got all the files, to my surprise I didn’t get the ending, I thought I did something wrong so I looked it up, I couldn’t find this ending anywhere, So I asked about it on the outlast subreddit, they said there was no secret ending. I was literally dumbfounded, such a vivid memory that I clearly can picture to this day and it’s not real. The universe really needs to stop changing this stuff every update and patch it has.

A madman would tell you that the teacher was wrong and young Charlie was right. But nay, as we all know, teachers are always right. What's most interesting about this is, it's not just isolated to people from one country, so this isn't mass hysteria. The Shazaam one still haunts me, cuz as an Egyptian i clearly saw the movie while i was a kid in Egypt and so it just couldn't have come from any US influence. i still don't understand how it just doesn't exist. There are people from all over the world (including me) that have this *same* false memory, without any interaction with each other, nor external coercion. We just all collectively knew things to be a certain way and it.. just wasn't.

That's the same one that gets me. When I first heard about the Mandela effect I could've sworn this was real until my brother told me it wasn't. Realized that it's exactly what charlie is describing, your brain just fills in the blanks when it doesn't have full memories. That explains away all of them (with the Cheezit example, you remember seeing a Z so you think it could be at the end when asked). With Shazam, only thing I can think of is Sinbad is like a real life genie, hoop earring and all. He should've been cast for that movie lol it's still a super interesting concept
