Thank you for your enthusiasm everyone, I look forward to Friday! Quick note: Pirate is alive and well and camped out in my sock drawer at home (or at least he was when I left for work) so please, no "RIP" comments, they make me sad! Also, some people don't seem to like the premier feature. Please leave a reply to this comment to tell me what you think of premier and why you don't like it (if you don't like it). Thank you!
I'm not a huge fan of the premier feature as they usually start way late due to timezones (european), and I miss out on the interactive aspect :( however, it is very nice for people that do get to participate :)
I have no idea if they think we are cute, but they do certainly love us and appreciate us. When they climb on my lap and press their head against my chest while purring, I am sure they at least don't find us repulsive.
He definitely is such a kind person, I love this channel. I think if he was the vet I am taking my cat to, I would have the biggest crush on him. And Mr Pirate, don't even get me started on this cutie...
I know the feeling, my old boy is 14 and he's been with me through it all. So whenever I think about losing him, I strengthen my resolve to give him the best life because he's the best boy :)
You have an Aussie cat. Does he say g’day to you. G’day mate from Melbourne Australia. He is so gorgeous and cuddly cat 🐈. Give him a big hug from us Aussie’s. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I have often said my cats are **the best cats in the whole world** however I think that is a common belief among catparents. In my grief over losing an extremely beloved cat to cancer, I told a cat vet tech "but she was not an "average" cat!! she was so special !!" but really that was unfair to other cats, each one is so unique and special and when we pour love and care into them, their personality **blossoms** and they respond with loving us back and letting us see their uniquely special full personality. (I think most cats do not reveal their full personality to strangers !!)
I just watched The Little Prince and he meets a fox and the fox says "to you I am nothing more than fox like a hundred thousand other foxes in the world. But if you tame me, then we shall need eachother. to me you shall be unique in the world and to you I shall be unique in all the world." .... That's just the most beautiful sentiment on pets I've heard. I bawled immediately thinking of my pets that are unique in all the world.
Ah... what a beautiful story. And one can tell Mr Pirate is so attached to you. No wonder, you are his mum and dad, you've been his parent all his life. What a beautiful friendship. You are so gentle with him... very, very special. Bless you both ❤
I miss my cat, she died in the summer, she was 19. Watching this reminds me of when she was a small kitten and makes me smile. I'm so thankful for the years we had together and all the memories.
What a great kitty relationship! It makes me miss my Figaro who passed a few years ago at 21 years old. Our vets helped her through some hard times over the years including a stroke like event when she was 5 and diabetes for her last 7 years.
Thank you for sharing! Love to hear people's stories of caring for animals with health challenges. Diabetic cats can have a normal and happy life if they have the right human.
Dr. Uri, I must say this is SO heartwarming to watch! You have such a sweet, loving and beautiful bond with Mr. Pirate 😁😁😁 Thank you so much for all of your videos, it helps a lot and my cat also loves watching them. It's somehow very soothing 😁
This story would make such an amazing book :D I might be a bit jealous of Mr. Pirate for travelling all across the world, but it's so sad to hear they have to be in the luggage section. I understand why, but I can't even imagine how scary it was for him, he's an awesome cat for handling it well. Wishing you many more happy years together.
You'll be pleased to know that my father is writing a children's book loosely based on Lancelot! I'll announce it on here once it is closer to publication. Maybe Mr. Pirate is next :-)
I didn't realise he was an Australian kitty. Maybe that's why I love him so much, we're both Aussies. I'm so glad you took him back with you and he's been able to spend his life with you.
I appreciate how you "get" cats. Your love and understanding of these (barely!:) domesticated creatures is refreshing, fun, and informative. Thank you🐈❤
Mr. Pirate is clearly one of the most loved cats ever. No matter how many kitties you share your life and practice with, he’ll always be your ❤️ kitty.
You do look at Mr. Pirate like he's your son, though! Reminded me of my mom 😂 I have 5 siblings and when we all moved out she started to call our cat 'son'; and it's hilarious to see them talk to each other or interact in general. And he does indeed act like a human at times 😂
I love Dr. Uri and Mr. Pirate is a celebrity! I so enjoyed this video. I love to squish my cats, too! My daughter lives in Vancouver, so they are extra special!
Icing on the cake...I've watched quite a few of your videos & have really liked them all, had also thought all along that you were an exceptionally nice person. As one viewer commented, you're like the Mr. Rogers for cats. This video about your friendship with Mr. Pirate topped it off...you're definitely one of the nicest people around. Canadians have a reputation for being nice (confirmed by every friend I've met from Canada), but you're unusually nice even for a Canadian. Your loving relationship with Mr. Pirate proves how nice you are...how many people would go on air acting that gushy & sweet? Maybe you should start another channel giving lessons on how to be so nice!
This actually made me tear up at how much I miss my own cat since I moved out of my parents' house. My cat was born a little over 7 years ago. The next day dad had to put his mom down, as she was too small and suffered too much while giving birth.. My mom and I looked up all the information we could find on how to raise a kitten, we got everything we needed as soon as possible, and after that I got up several times each night, for weeks, to feed him and see that he was warm enough. He was the first and the last thing on my mind every night
We adopted an elderly cat with a bunch of health problems as like a ‘palliative’ thing with the expectation she would pass away within 6 months. It’s getting close to 2 years now and her last blood tests came back that she’s doing really well!
I recently rescued a 14 yr. old Siamese male. I was working for a young man whos mother had given the cat to him. He had it quite some time and then got a big dog which attacked him and badly injured his left eye. The owner did not want him and was going to take him to the pound but I wanted him and he is mine now. I named him Simon and took him to the vet. for a check up. The blood work found Simon has feline HIV and Feline T.B. ,Simon also had a lung infection which I got a prescription of antibiotics for. He is doing very well now and we are both very happy. Simon does have a little stiffness in his joints but that comes with age as I know being a senior citizen myself. I could say much more but to keep it short I will jus t say I have a new best friend again as my best buddy Bopper passed on about a year ago. Life is good! For us both.
Our human-reared kitten Emily also ended up with some weird and adorable quirks from not having a cat mother around for some of her early kittenhood, the best of which was that she simply had no idea that she was supposed to open her mouth to meow for her first year! Sadly, once she went into heat for the first time she figured out how to make her meow louder by opening her mouth. 11 years later she's the best behaved cat we've ever had, a real delight to have sharing our home.
It’s crazy how those teeny little kittens grow into great big cats. I lost one my oldest boys not too long ago. When I got him, he’d been rescued by my partner who was in a wheelchair and managed to grab this tiny little black and white scrap that had been thrown out of the house next door into the rain, because he’d “scratched” one of the kids., and stuffed him, struggling and scratching down his shirt, to get him inside. He got well scratched up for his pains lol .When we got him he was tiny enough to sit on my palm, and when he finally passed away he was over 3 kilos of cat.....who still thought he was hand sized. My partner has since passed away, and now so has ‘Dumo. His name was Umdumo (Zulu for thunder storm), aka “thundercat” and I still miss him so much.
I know these videos get a ton of comments, but I just needed to say, thank you so much for your videos! You're the biggest inspiration in my life now, just from your youtube channel. I'm a, now, university student on Vancouver Island, but a year ago I was completely lost when I graduated highschool. I had wanted to get into the veterinary field all my life, but everyone around me, friends, teachers, family, hated the idea to the point I started to hate it too, but could never figure out anything else I could ever want to do. Your videos inspired me with how kind hearted and pure you are as a person and how invested you are with sharing information and knowledge about animals and care, enough that I finally got myself to apply for veterinary courses. And by some miracle, I was accepted to the first university I applied to. I'm now 3 months into the course, and it's definitely proving difficult, but you're always in the back of my mind rooting me on. If that doesn't sound creepy. Thank you for being you!
This is a wonderful video! I have a tabby that I rescued when he was 1-1/2 years old. From the back Mr. Pirate has the same markings as Tigger. Tigger's flash of white on his face is off centre and so cute! He and I have the same relationship as you and Mr. Pirate. 🐾🐾
One day in a ridiculously hot summer, we had to replace the air conditioner. The old one had given its all for the family and we had to send it off to air conditioner heaven, where it could chase cans of Freon all day and sleep all night in a comfy window...(sorry, my parents scarred me with stories of cat heaven.) Well, a piece of lumber was needed, to brace the new air conditioner in the window, so my partner went down the the basement to cut a chunk off an old 2x4. But she didn't come upstairs with a piece of wood, but this little ball of something in her hand. It was a kitten, of course, probably from a place under a woodpile next door where a feral cat liked to have her kittens. We figured that he smelled me making fried chicken a day or so earlier, and he came through a disused dryer vent hole in a window in the basement, trying to get that chicken. My partner said that the first indication that things had taken a bit of a turn were that the HUGEST mouse in the world was walking up to her, and it was YELLING at her. He was scrawny, he was filthy, he was maybe four weeks old, but he was so adorable and cute that we felt he'd earned his new home by his efforts to get that chicken. It was truly a miracle he survived the day or so in the basement, because there was no water accessible to him down there, and it was baking hot. But he had the will to keep on, and as soon as a hoomin came down, he demanded to be taken proper care of, as was his catly due. He didn't get chicken, unfortunately, not that day, because we ate it. But he did get his own tuna steak, from a pouch in the pantry, that we rinsed off for him and put on a paper plate. He was clearly starving, and after he had some tuna he had some water, and he curled up in a little sleeping ball. We got him a litter pan and some other stuff, including a small carrier, and we took him to the vet, a wonderful man who has a practice only for cats in our neighborhood. He got checked over, and washed, and treated for fleas and mites, and eventually got a little operation for a hiatal hernia and all his shots, and we had him fixed as soon as he was old enough because there's a great plenty of kittens in the world, too many to love all at once. The vet said that he had "just tons of character", and he was totally right. We've called him our miracle cat since then. He's 12 years old now, and a bit of a handful at times, but from time to time he descends from his great dignity and becomes a big kitten for a few minutes, to play and frisk like he did when he was just this little scrap of fluff and buzzes. We named him Nelirikk Explorer, in honor of a great warrior hero from a science-fiction series we loved. Nelirikk's people tattooed their faces with the record of their deeds, their _Vingtai,_ and if any creature had _Vingtai_ on his face, it was this little guy, and even that small, we could see that he had down his spine a perfectly-symmetrical broadsword, the hilt at the back of his head, the guard across his shoulders, and the blade down his back, the tip at his tail. With his sword on his back he HAD to be a warrior cat of some great renown, and thus Nelirikk Explorer the Sword Cat was named.
It’s amazing how much you both enjoy each other’s company. The way he grooms you, nose kisses you and flicks the tip of his tail, so content-it’s so obvious he loves you so much!
He's like Mr Rogers with Cats. This is the best thing I've found in a very long time. As a studying Vet Assistant, I am so excited to find this channel!
The way this man is beaming with so much love for this cat as he tells this story and gives him cuddles is absolutely melting my heart. Godamnit I love this channel.
He has a photo album of his memories with cats, my heart is melting
"Squish that subscribe button" already started on a good note
It's the number-one rule to know when handling TH-cam channels
This channel is too pure for this dark world.
Never noticed Mr. Pirate's australian accent.

Nothing is more attractive than a man who adores his cat
Every time the good doctor pauses his story to coo at Mr. Pirate, an angel gets its wings.
I didn’t know Mr. Pirate was Australian ❤️

He's so chilled, it does figure!
Hes not from australia, he just studied there

I see no problems with it, it's quite alright for me.
As long as I don't see any of those pesky dogs. Meow!!
I just set a reminder, but in Europe too, so probably have to watch later.
I love the feautre! I don't like notification bells, and this feature allows me to put the video into my 'watch later' list and not miss it
Mr. Pirate needs to be a UNESCO World Heritage treasure.
Possibly the best cat? Mr. Pirate IS the best cat
Every cat-owner thinks the same about his own little slave-master.
But not everyone is right :p
Bromance of the year.
Of the decade!
00:00 - 12:09 best part
Do you ever wonder if cats think we're cute like how we think they're cute? I hope so.
I call mine demon spawn. Still trying to find what's cute about this Satan clone.
Brain scans have shown that Elephants think of us like we think of dogs. The cat question remains unanswered, as is only proper when it comes to cats.
Chibz I do to
I have no idea if they think we are cute, but they do certainly love us and appreciate us. When they climb on my lap and press their head against my chest while purring, I am sure they at least don't find us repulsive.
I read a study that said cats think humans are cute but dummy not ad graceful as them they also think they're the dominant humans are just help
The only premier I have been truly invested in
Same here!
This is a real IPO
"Intense Purring Object"!
athæneum same lol
Hello from Turkey. I feeding 35 stray cats and kittens

You're a good person. Thank you, from someone who loves animals, especially cats 😍
+Adorable Cats Well done, lovely human being!
Make sure they are fixed too! It will help them
After this story you want to squish that vet 🤣
+
Yep, sure do.
🤣
Omg yes
🤣🤣🤣
Who tf disliked this video?? I'm ready to fight you.
His face lights up with so much joy talking about his cat. I'm glad he's a veterinarian. His clients can know he truly cares for their pets.
Your like the bob Ross of cats 😭♥️
You are such a good cat daddy
3:35 “telling your story mr P, kiss”. Omgosh I love you!
This was so wonderful. The bond you two have is so clear and special.
9:20 and they were *roommates!*
He is paying his share of the rent with his TH-cam channel ;-)
I had to subscribe! This dude is so friendly and kind and omg he has a cat on his shoulder!
Welcome to the PUREST channel on TH-cam
yes, they are both so calm and sweet!
He definitely is such a kind person, I love this channel. I think if he was the vet I am taking my cat to, I would have the biggest crush on him. And Mr Pirate, don't even get me started on this cutie...
did i cry through the whole thing? i cryed through the whole thing
Now, this is a compliment, just to be clear. You remind me of Mr. Rogers. There. I had to write this.
He has been a shoulder cat from the beginning! ❤️
Why do I feel like I want to cry. I have my cat of 8 years. He's been with me through my journey. I can't imagine how it'll be losing him.
Cats are like non judgemental friends
The good news is that many cats live up to 20; so don't panic!!!!
I know the feeling, my old boy is 14 and he's been with me through it all. So whenever I think about losing him, I strengthen my resolve to give him the best life because he's the best boy :)
Healthy indoor cats can live 15-30 years. No need to say goodbye yet!
I literally started crying when he pulled out the photo album
Uri and Mr. Pirate = relationship goals.
You have an Aussie cat. Does he say g’day to you. G’day mate from Melbourne Australia. He is so gorgeous and cuddly cat 🐈. Give him a big hug from us Aussie’s. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
He say's G'day every morning with a lick on the nose.
Mr Pirate also throws shrimp on the barbie and bowls underarm.
The joy and love for your cat is so sweet, and how everybody should talk about and feel for their pet.
That is a beautiful quote from a beautiful book.
That kiss for Mr Pirate brought a tear to my eye, it's beautiful seeing your love for eachother
the best shoulder squishing cat EVAR! Mr. Pirate Ahoy!
The Squishening shall commence!
SQUISH THAT CAT!
"Squish the subscribe button" "Pet the bell" When did D.r Uri get so adorable
How long did it take for Mr. Pirate to acquire a Canadian accent? What a well traveled boy.
this is the greatest vet of all time
Does he meow with an Aussie accent?
He's a very good boy and hardly ever meows, but when he does, he always ads "mate" at the end :-). He mostly chirps though.
Ah... what a beautiful story. And one can tell Mr Pirate is so attached to you. No wonder, you are his mum and dad, you've been his parent all his life. What a beautiful friendship. You are so gentle with him... very, very special. Bless you both ❤
Sometimes, destiny makes brilliant choices. These guys are made for each other.
This man just touched me so. What a lovely and loving soul.
The purity here is so foreign to my tainted rotting heart 🥺🥺 I haven't felt this emo since 2008.
I miss my cat, she died in the summer, she was 19. Watching this reminds me of when she was a small kitten and makes me smile. I'm so thankful for the years we had together and all the memories.
Mr. Pirate picked a good one.
The most wholesome relationships I’ve seen in my life😭
3:07 "Oh excuse me. I am feeling some feline motion."
OMG I've always loved Mr. Pirate! He is so loving and sweet, makes me think of my late kitty. Really heartwarming!
Mr. Pirate and you are wonderful. It's so plain to see the love you have for each other. Thank you for sharing that love with us
I am in love with this cat and his man.
This must be the most heartwarming story I've heard in years.
Dr. Uri, I must say this is SO heartwarming to watch! You have such a sweet, loving and beautiful bond with Mr. Pirate 😁😁😁

@@HelpfulVancouverVet Yay! Can't wait for it. :)
Helpful Vancouver Vet I want to buy that book. I would definitely get a Mr. Pirate book
My 4 rescue Arabian Mau cats came back to the UK from Dubai as cargo. They were fine.

Found this channel with squish that cat, have been casually watching nearly every video the last few weeks. Not only informative but so genuine
Awww, I love how much you love him. I have a 20 year old cat that I've had since the time he fit in my hand.
Your videos make me warm inside. They are so wholesome AND educational and I couldn’t ask for more.
I was utterly charmed by your story. Lucky kitten to be so loved.
Mr. Pirate is so adorable, I also want a shoulder cat
Oh I've been waiting for this after the story of Lancelot
For I am a Pirate King!
And it is, it is a glorious thing
To be a Pirate King!
Hurrah for our Pirate King!
Such a fine blob, aye

I underestimated how much I would enjoy the story. I was aww-ing most of the video 💞
I'm more excited for this than I was for Endgame!
