Incidents like #86 where the car pulls out in the cammer, shows that steering around someone is usually a lot safer than slamming on the brakes. Too many drivers simply slam on the brakes when a problem is unfolding often causing more collisions behind them.
One video I saw had a car crossing the hard shoulder after a crash. A driver confronted by the car spun his car round and gunned his engine. This brought him to a halt quicker than just using his brakes.
@@megazw7740 Yep. You should always allow room for an emergency stop. Rule 126 of the Highway Code: "Stopping distances. The safe rule is never to get closer than the overall stopping distance allow at least a two-second gap between you and the vehicle in front on high-speed roads and in tunnels where visibility is reduced. The gap should be at least doubled on wet roads and up to ten times greater on icy roads remember, large vehicles and motorcycles need a greater distance to stop. If driving a large vehicle in a tunnel, you should allow a four-second gap between you and the vehicle in front" There are very rarely any excuses for going into the back of a car in front. This video does not show such an excuse.
In most cases you would be correct, however if someone entered your lane, effectively reducing your stopping distance then they are at fault although the onus would be on you to prove it, hence the need for a dash cam
@RT-ii8hb before I retired I was a transport manager and spent many hours talking to insurers regarding incidents. They all practically said the same thing, the driver who can see what's going on in front of him...is to blame. I queried scenarios like you suggested about somebody entering your lane and they said the onus is on you to slow down and recreate a safe gap. If somebody stops in front of you you have to manage a safe distance to completely stop as well I'm not suggesting no blame would be put on the other driver. Anyhow that's what I was told, and if that's wrong bollox to it, I've retired. I agree dashcams will play a bigger role in sorting claims out. I expect dashcams will be factory fitted in the future. Yeh but the pedestrian looked like they were ready to step out into the road… the Mini was quite right to stop.. the driver behind was driving to fast and too close to take evasive action
#8 3:49 for once Stobart not at fault as they were stationary during the impact, in the wise words of Ashley Neal 'You can't hit anything if you're stationary'
1:44 - poor observation by the car pulling out of the side road, but the golf driver was driving far too fast for the conditions and the emerging vehicle wouldn't have been expecting him to be going at that speed or overtaking the cammer.
2:47 There can be no doubt that the Mini should not have stopped there, because there is no stop line there. The stop line for that red light was crossed prior to the yellow box.
Still, majority of the blame goes to the cammer. The mini might have stopped for the wrong reason, but it's always up to the person behind to also stop *whatever* the reason the car in front stopped.
@@Larwood.: Agreed, you have to be travelling at a speed that allows you to stop within the distance you can see to be clear, and at a separation that allows you to stop if the person in front of you stops (even if it's for no apparent reason). That said, it's always "amusing" when people don't understand repeating lights and stop where they're not supposed to, and on a separate note, there are some locations where there is a box junction and a set of traffic lights where there's a stop line (and so you must stop at them) where it's virtually impossible to stop outside of the box for except for possibly the smallest of bikes (if even them) In one case, there's even a level crossing which has a junction before it, and a box junction was added in retrospectively for the junction with very little space between the crossing stop line and the box junction, leaving enough space for a single car, guess lorries and buses don't matter much then hey

For example: approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road where the road narrows when approaching a school crossing patrol between a kerb and a bus or tram when it is at a stop where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works when you would force another road user to swerve or slow down at a level crossing when a road user is indicating right, even if you believe the signal should have been cancelled - do not take a risk; wait for the signal to be cancelled stay behind if you are following a cyclist approaching a roundabout or junction, and you intend to turn left when a tram is standing at a kerbside tram stop and there is no clearly marked passing lane for other traffic It’s simple DO NOT overtake at junctions
#7 looks like they've mistaken the repeater light. The clip starts part way through the junction so it's difficult to tell it's the repeater light but I can't see a solid white stop line in front of it which means that light doesn't apply to those vehicle now and they should've continued through. This is why the cammer wouldn't have easily anticipated the mini stopping because it wasn't supposed to.
2:45 The Mini was already in the Junction. Those light did not have a stop line and the mini was clearly at fault for stopping when they should not have. Thoses are far lights and not stop lights.
As a retired professional driver, from artics to vans to jcb to chauffeuring my boss. I am appalled by the poor even dangerous standard of driving in this video.
30.10 When you see a guy with his elbow hanging out the window you just know he is thinking more about himself than anyone else. Probably the best motor he,s ever driven and feeling good about it. Most likely the bosses motor too.
2:46 - the mini driver should not have stopped at all. Those lights are the repeater lights at the far side of the junction and do not have a stop line. They are only there to allow drivers stopped close to the stop line, at the entrance to the junction, to see when the lights change, when they are too close to the lights on their side to see them. We have a similar junction at the exit from a shopping centre and drivers regularly turn left on a green light and then stop at the red light, which is not meant for them and is always red when their light is green.
The lack of spacial and situational awareness plus deluded embodiment by many dashcam users is ironically why we have so many avoidable accidents on our roads. Its not hard to slow down and let others drivers get on with their day.
The clip at 2:45 - Mini stopped for no reason, probably confused that the lights went red, and was wrong to do so, however the cammer had plenty of time to react.
@@chrisfifield-smith Indeed, cammer had plenty of time to react but chose not to, would be curious to know who the insurance companies are blaming and at what split, if any.

@@batvetone LOL, what? The mini was in the junction and should have cleared it. The red light it stopped at was for cars not yet in the junction. There is no stop line where the mini stopped.
@@batvetone As much as I agree majority blame, if not all, is with the cammer, you are wrong on how the mini handled it. They were in a junction and should have cleared it, its a double set of lights that signal the cars before the box, not in the box..... Really the faults here are the mini driver getting confused by the lights and stopping when they shouldn't have (otherwise are you telling me they should stop in a box junction?) and the cammer for gunning through an amber and having the reactions of a sloth.
I'm amazed at the amount of people who pull over after being hit. What you want to do is stay exactly where you are and take photos of how and where the impact happened in relation to the road. The amount of people who can lose because the third party offers an alternative truth and without concrede photographs, easily get away with it.
For context at 19:00 the cammer got knocked out by the impact and the female range rover driver actually blamed the cammer to the police for this crash. I watched the original years ago.
Wouldn't say the incident is the cammer's "fault", but still it's always worth being careful if you can't see in front of you (for all you know, it could be a broken down car there or something!)
If you see someone pulling out from a side road and it is your right of way it seems you are supposed to speed up, make a fuss and sound your horn for 5 seconds. Must remember that for next time.

experience taught me as a passenger, if the driver overcorrects into a tankslapper, shout " let Go" the castor effect will straighten the wheels then you can pull it straight, only had it happen once but it deffo worked
#4 I disagree. The Golf overtook by going on hashing and was a distance away from the junction when the car arrived. The driver probably made the right decision for a car travelling at the speed limit. The only problem was he was slow to pull away and the golf was speeding. Both at fault, but it dies matter how fast the Golf was travelling.
But the Golf was doing well above the speed limit, if a driver has no ability to judge the speed of approaching traffic they shouldn't be driving (neither should the Golf driver tbf).
@@ferrumignisIMO, the emerging driver has judged (and rightly so) that he has right of way based on the amount of clear road he can see on his right. He then has to look left before he can start the manoeuvre. He doesn't have to judge the Golf's speed, but possibly he has assessed the speed of the camcar and not seen the Golf ( it wasn't in the correct road position) and anyway speeding doesn't give you right of way! Assuming the cam car was close to the speed limit, you can see his right turn was safe based on how close the cam car was to the incident. I believe the Golf is doing 20mph over the camcar so that is 50 in a 30. Way too fast! The Golf has also overtaken in the short distance between two bollards that is hashed. The authorities really don't want people to overtake there! So it's not just speeding, it's excessive speeding and reckless driving. Finally the emerging driver has seen the Golf and stopped, so he made the continuous observation. I do apportion some blame to the emerging driver, but that portion of the blame depends on how much faster than the speed limit the Golf was doing, which I can't honestly judge.
4:50 but at least he had the sense to immediately pull over, presumably to check his wheels for damage. Too many people imagine that striking the kerb at speed is not an issue because it's sideways and doesn't "feel" serious and will drive on casually until they have a blowout or their knuckle fails or the tracking goes out the window and they chew up their tyres...
2:46 .. the Mini stopped in the junction thinking the second set of lights (beyond the box junction markings) were a different lights when in fact they are connected to the ones they'd already gone though. I wish I had a quid for the number of times people do that on larger junctions.
Yep. At 2:52 the Mini drove over the solid white line when the lights were not red. There is no solid white line in front of the Mini when it stopped. So it shouldn’t have stopped there.

@2:56 #7 the mini had no reason to stop where it did. The red light was a repeater for the lights before the yellow box. With no light king to stop at. Bad driving by both. The cam car wasn’t expecting the mini to stop in the middle of the road for no reason
Yep. At 2:52 the Mini drove over the solid white line, (that cars must stay behind when the lights are red) before the lights were red.
@@CyborgGerbilThat was not a problem as there was no stop line at the lights the mini stopped at.
1:55 the car pulling out had space for the car that was being overtaken, but the speeder caused that hazzard completely. The emerging car had started their manuver at the time when the speeder started theirs...
Exactly, the road racer 30mph breaker overtook on hatched markings and was coming from behind a centre island lamppost, which he swerved to avoid; the car pulling out couldnt have anticipated the overtake..... and the Highway Code warns abt overtaking nr T junctions
54:45 To be fair to the Police officers it's clear that despite the hundreds of thousands of Pounds we pay in VEL (Road Tax) the local Authority could not be bothered to repaint the worn out white markings
Poor road markings is a massive pet peeve, including places where there are no stop lines visible at all
Incidents like #86 where the car pulls out in the cammer, shows that steering around someone is usually a lot safer than slamming on the brakes.
You rear end somebody....your to blame. If they stop for no reason its irrelevant, you should leave enough space to able to stop.
Nope.
@@megazw7740 Yep. You should always allow room for an emergency stop.
Rule 126 of the Highway Code:
"Stopping distances. Drive at a speed that will allow you to stop well within the distance you can see to be clear.
You should
leave enough space between you and the vehicle in front so that you can pull up safely if it suddenly slows down or stops. The safe rule is never to get closer than the overall stopping distance
allow at least a two-second gap between you and the vehicle in front on high-speed roads and in tunnels where visibility is reduced. The gap should be at least doubled on wet roads and up to ten times greater on icy roads
remember, large vehicles and motorcycles need a greater distance to stop. If driving a large vehicle in a tunnel, you should allow a four-second gap between you and the vehicle in front"
There are very rarely any excuses for going into the back of a car in front.
Stay safe.
for the mini clip. thats not even his light. the stop line is further back.
Yep at 2:52 where the Mini drives over the solid white line before the light was red.
Note cammer's close pass on the cyclist at 46:25 on #94.
#7, that red light doesn't pertain to that pelican crossing, there is no solid line there to stop at. The stopping point is before the yellow box junction, it's a big open controlled T junction. Mini shouldn't have stopped, cam car shouldn't have rear ended. I've had exactly that situation at exactly that light.
Yeh but the pedestrian looked like they were ready to step out into the road… the Mini was quite right to stop.. the driver behind was driving to fast and too close to take evasive action
Driving down an empty lane past a queue of more than 6 vehicles, it's evens that one of them will pull out.
28:35 that road by Aston / M6 is an absolute nightmare - a lot of drivers don’t know where they want to go and often times people stop
#8 3:49 for once Stobart not at fault as they were stationary during the impact, in the wise words of Ashley Neal 'You can't hit anything if you're stationary'
Yep
Well done that lorry driver at 20:04. Funniest thing I have seen in ages.
22:56 Notice that the Range Rover has an illegal registration number. It should read KA51 MBB
No shit
1:44 - poor observation by the car pulling out of the side road, but the golf driver was driving far too fast for the conditions and the emerging vehicle wouldn't have been expecting him to be going at that speed or overtaking the cammer.
119 had a clear view of the traffic coming up the ramp and had all the room in the world to move over a lane to allow easy merging.
2:47 There can be no doubt that the Mini should not have stopped there, because there is no stop line there.
The stop line for that red light was crossed prior to the yellow box.
Yes. The red light is a repeater and there is no stop line. So it should have continued.
That said, it's always "amusing" when people don't understand repeating lights and stop where they're not supposed to, and on a separate note, there are some locations where there is a box junction and a set of traffic lights where there's a stop line (and so you must stop at them) where it's virtually impossible to stop outside of the box for except for possibly the smallest of bikes (if even them)
In one case, there's even a level crossing which has a junction before it, and a box junction was added in retrospectively for the junction with very little space between the crossing stop line and the box junction, leaving enough space for a single car, guess lorries and buses don't matter much then hey
@@fetchstixRHD You're supposed to look more than 6 feet in front of your car when driving. Meaning you'd see there's not enough room and stop early.
Case in point. The mini driver is just as bad, they pull over on double yellows when they could have pulled into that petrol station about 100m up the road.
@@fetchstixRHD just to humour this scenario you would have to stop before the box then and at no point are you to stop in the box if you cannot clear it. It makes your example moot to explain the repeating light situation.

2:45 where the mini stopped was not a traffic light for them, it was the second light at that junction, so it should not have stopped as there is no stop line, just the line at the end of the yellow box junction
its a pedestrian crossing, a pedestrian is waiting to use who is not looking to be young and spry, I would have stopped here without a doubt and I would have been breaking earlier as well to manage a potential risk, though another point to make the mini is not hammering on and the guy behind is really not paying enough attention.
@@sirbollocks609
You need to take another look, there is no pedestrian crossing, yes there is a drop kerb, a pedestrian refuge and a button to set the traffic lights for the pedestrian cycle, but the absence of zebra crossing type painted road surface markings simply indicates a safer place to cross not a proper crossing.
The mini driver was wrongly reacting to the downstream traffic light by mistake, and had already crossed the stop line before the amber light came on, (which can just be seen in front of the cammer right at the start of the clip and more clearly on the repeat @2:53) that mini should not be stopping inside the yellow box and therefore is totally at fault.
Nice user name though 😂😂

The Mini @2.45 should not have stopped at all. That red light isnt for them. They passed the line where you would stop ages ago.
Although as they stop the light is red. If they had stopped and that light was amber then maybe. But that's deffo red.
@@nick_7869 Doesn't apply as this is a repeater light and there is no stop line.
@@nick_7869 That wasn’t a red light for the Mini driver. Those lights are for the cars that hadn’t crossed the solid white line, at the first set of traffic lights 2:52,a few car lengths behind the Mini.
Sometimes when you pull up to traffic lights, just behind the solid white line on the road, you can’t see the traffic lights. Because they are above you/above your wing mirrors. So you can’t see the colour change unless you lean forwards a lot and look up, or look out of the side window. Or if you’re driving a buss or lorry, you can’t always see the first set of lights at the solid white line. So they placed secondary/repeater lights a little bit in front, so you’ll be able to see the lights.
The Mini driver had past the first lights where you pull up to the white line on the road, meaning; you can’t go beyond it if the lights are red.
To prove this, there isn’t a solid white line at those lights, in front of the Mini (2:48), like there are on the opposite side of the road just before the lights.

The driver enters the junction on a changing light at amber, then on the other side of the junction stops when the light goes to red: IT'S STILL THE SAME SET OF LIGHTS!! The Mini should not have stopped: they've crossed the stop line so they need to complete their transition through the junction. It's not even as if it was a big junction
This! Yet so many people (certainly from these comments) cannot comprehend that! However, this doesnt excuse the poor reaction times of the cammer.
@@BlackCelica the camper shouldn’t have entered the junction. And he drove like a spacker

Do not overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users. For example:
approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road
where the road narrows
when approaching a school crossing patrol
between a kerb and a bus or tram when it is at a stop
where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works
when you would force another road user to swerve or slow down
at a level crossing
when a road user is indicating right, even if you believe the signal should have been cancelled - do not take a risk; wait for the signal to be cancelled
stay behind if you are following a cyclist approaching a roundabout or junction, and you intend to turn left
when a tram is standing at a kerbside tram stop and there is no clearly marked passing lane for other traffic
It’s simple DO NOT overtake at junctions
#7 looks like they've mistaken the repeater light. The clip starts part way through the junction so it's difficult to tell it's the repeater light but I can't see a solid white stop line in front of it which means that light doesn't apply to those vehicle now and they should've continued through. This is why the cammer wouldn't have easily anticipated the mini stopping because it wasn't supposed to.

Probably the best motor he,s ever driven and feeling good about it. Most likely the bosses motor too.
#7 Lucky the Mini wasn’t pushed into the pedestrian.
Yep. Mini was a muppet, but the crash was the cammer's fault.

24, I'll believe the kids will call that one a "2 idiots, 1 road."
I'm just glad the moderator isn't a traffic court judge. So many ridiculous claims being made about who is at fault.
9:07 You can overtake on the left in slow moving queues of traffic. Is it me or does the queue on the left seem a bit short and moving quite fast?
If you see someone pulling out from a side road and it is your right of way it seems you are supposed to speed up, make a fuss and sound your horn for 5 seconds. Must remember that for next time.
The Lady in Asda Car Park - Why did you say sorry to the other driver when there were CLEARLY Give Way markings for the other car? To the Third Party involved - please remove yourself from the UK's roads and make driving safer for EVERYONE!
experience taught me as a passenger, if the driver overcorrects into a tankslapper, shout " let Go" the castor effect will straighten the wheels then you can pull it straight, only had it happen once but it deffo worked
#31 - the overtake was poor due to the junction, but the car emerging from the side road was probably at fault here for poor observation
Absolutely, he didn’t check for oncoming cars on the left before he made the turn. The cammer was 100% at fault
2:46 .. the Mini stopped in the junction thinking the second set of lights (beyond the box junction markings) were a different lights when in fact they are connected to the ones they'd already gone though. I wish I had a quid for the number of times people do that on larger junctions.
Yep. At 2:52 the Mini drove over the solid white line when the lights were not red. There is no solid white line in front of the Mini when it stopped. So it shouldn’t have stopped there.
Fabulous selection of foul ups. Britain's roads are fast becoming very dangerous and the police seem not interested.
Take care out there Folks and get wherever you are gong safely.
Most of the drivers with cameras are breaking the law, this country states that it is required for you to stay at the scene of an RTC at all times necessary, also there is no such thing as a accident
Eventhough I am driving for many years, it still shocks me to see the arrogance of Audi, BMW and Mercedes drivers who seem to think that they own the road and are superior to others. These videos also show that lack of attention and excessive speed are responsible for most accidents and fatalities.
So glad #70 told us they were off to play a bit of tennis

#7 was completely the fault of the car with the dashcam.
You should always have enough distance to the car in front so you can stop in case of an emergency (driver needs to check the Highway Code)
